My Top 3: 1) Bookshelf Staircase - For its amazing practicality 2) Drawer Staircase - again for practicality and 3) Stairs with a slide - just because it keeps you so young! - Michael Beck
I always thought it would be fun to have stairs and a pole (like in a fire station)! :-) - Corie Allison
Some of those are cool. I really went out on a limb there. - RAPatton
Sorry to spoil the bacon fun, but as a veg, I could only let it go on so long. The pork industry is rotten to the core. - Ňicķ
I buy my pork related products from sources that aren't horrible. If you buy your meat from Whole Foods, you'll pay more but get much higher quality meat that's nothing like the company profiled. Yes, much of the pork industry is disgusting. - Tad - just Tad
Nick, THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR POSTING THIS!!!!! - Anna Haro
I'm not a vegetarian now, but when I lived in rural Missouri I was. Whole Foods cannot be found on every street corner, and not everyone can afford it anyway. What's really sad is that if you're poor in the midwest you're probably eating pork and therefore contributing to massive pig-shit lagoons that are extremely dangerous to your own safety. Vegetarianism is a nutritious and affordable habit we could all learn something from. - Jason Wehmhoener
i'm hitting the LIKE button very reluctantly. in this case it should be called "DO NOT FORGET" - sean808080
Luter, the owner of Smithfield, wants to expand in Europe, particularly in Poland and Romania. The bastard! After having killed millions of fish, made countless people sick here in the US, and ruined rivers and watersheds in North Carolina for everybody, now wants to do the same in Europe. And smarmy politicians here in the States have done nothing to stop him -- after getting hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations from him, that is. People like this are the real terrorists. - Raoul Pop
So has Mona read this? Just wondering... ;-) - Ňicķ
Whoa! this entire article is GROOOOOOOOOSSSSSSS!!! wow. this is ungodly farming folks. this Pig Farming CEO dude's is sick in the head from all those fumes! Vegetarianism has for a long time been proven to be good for you and the environment...this should be on the front page news, but it's not. - Susan Beebe
Thanks sincerely for the reminder... - Bill Sodeman
hmmmm... not good for Bacon, but breakfast is still for winners. - Thomas Hawk
It's why I don't eat meat, thanks for this post. Reblogging. - Ryan
My pork does not come from these sorts of places. However, I will never buy Smithfield again even in an emergency pinch situation. Thanks for the link. - The Picture Man
ba-dee ba-dee ba-dee That's yuckie, folks! ... - Mark Elster
Beg Disqus to spend millions to help me track disparate conversations and comments in one place. coComment and co.mments.com only go so far. - Kawika Holbrook
Scoble, ask: is an *audio* commenting system (aka Utterz) going to be incorporated into Disqus? We're all about the video but, gosh, just as with podcasting, many users may comment on blogs with audio before video. I know I'm one... - Barbara K. Baker
How about asking them how they compete with FF in the long term? Doesn't it seem to make sense for them to either merge or just compete directly? IMHO neither offering is really "big enough" in the long run. - Jeremy Toeman
Kawika and Todd, I am not sure if that is really on their roadmap. What features were you looking for that coComment and co.mments.com do not do? - Rob Diana
That would be awesome because I couldn't get the FF wordpress plug in to work - Jason Kaneshiro
Question for Disqus: Where are they on comment importing? - Sean Reiser
Scoble. I think you and the other heavey A list twitters should jump the twitter ship and just use FF for about a month and see what the impact is. Don't be afraid to do this. It might prove a benefit to eveyone. - facefeed
Using Disqus would be great for comments, I have also been playing with Intense Debate to. I wonder if we could have the option to use Disqus or Intense Debate - Kevin Tunis
say hi to everyone for me Robert. that's my day when i am in SF. - Fred Wilson
Hope Twitter visit yields a change in attitude towards you - their best client! Also, hope Disqus integrates as much as possible with FriendFeed (give Daniel Ha at Disqus a big "Hi!" for me - give him some Merlot...keep talking!) - Susan Beebe
Google does have some advantages: it runs in browser, works on Macs/Linux/iPhones. Is permalinkable. - Robert Scoble
Ryo: yeah, but WWT controls telescopes. I disagree, by the way. When I go to star parties I see lots of Windows machines. - Robert Scoble
so how do I get invited to one of these "star parties"??? I really must not choose the right friends. - Tim Wright
Google sky is an excellent 2d gigapixel image browser. WWT is an exploratory model of the entire night sky, across multiple wavelengths/perspectives, coupled with true astronomical tools and a social model (tours, collections, etc). - Chris Hollander
its the first time for a while I agree that MS has totally outdone Google - Mark Ranford
@Ryo if you check out the special on Discovery (I think) about the Phoenix project to Mars you'll see that the teams were using Windows XP - Steven Hodson
WWT looks nice but I'm a mac.... wha wha - Mark Elster
Robert, you seem very confrontational lately :-) - mathew ingram
mathew: maybe it had something do with the time of night? Milan teething? - Brian Sullivan
Is it cruel to want to splice footage from the 'Experience WWT' video (http://tinyurl.com/49gujq) with 2 Girls 1 cup reaction footage? XD - Jake Fudge
I use an old IBM thinkpad to control my telescopes. Maybe its because mac users are afraid of the dark? :) - Jody C
If you actually want to go outside and look up at the sky I reccomend Stellarium it's free, opensource, runs on windows, mac, and linux, and does not require an internet connection. - Jeff
Agreed. They've got to restore Twitter IM. - Morton Fox
What else can we blame Scoble for? How about gas prices? Yeah, that is all Scoble's fault too! - Andy Roth
jaiku is running sweet on google ! - Adrian via twhirl
Except, of course, that no one from Twitter actually blamed Scoble at all. - Ian Betteridge
@ian, maybe not by name, but it did seem that they generically blamed their more popular users who post in rapid succession. At least that's how I read it. - Thomas Hawk
I don't think "blame" is the right word, especially if you look at the comment in context. The original post is chock-full of Alex saying "This isn't working because our architecture wasn't built for it", with no reference to blaming users for that. That single quote has been pulled out of context - and spun into a big story. - Ian Betteridge
I'm with Ian -- as usual, Robert has made it all about him :-) - mathew ingram
Ditto to Ian. All about Scoble. Again. And he turns it into pushing FriendFeed which I love *but* do not find *replaces* Twitter. Not by a long-shot. - Barbara K. Baker
Twitter blamed a list of users of which Robert is #1. He has a ton of followers and follows many people and has the most amount of updates. If Twitter wasn't including Robert in that conversation then I have a bridge to sell you - Bwana McCall
Scoble is *only* following 2000+ here at FriendFeed. He's not following as many here as he is @ Twitter. What does that mean? - Barbara K. Baker
twitter management has not only put their proverbial foot in their mouth, but now they've swallowed it and are choking... no help for that! gees! - Susan Beebe
my2cents on the twit blame bit - Scoble is a content provider, along with others, who make twittr a destination hub for an aggregating tech community. If anything, it is a symbiotic relationship. I trailed into twitter off of Scobles blog.. if anything, twitter should consider paying some of their greater community participants. - sedgewick
Barbara - On scoble's following numbers - 1. the culture hasn't built up here, relative to twitters critical mass. 2. It's actually more difficult to subscribe to people in friendfeed. and 3. It is possible that his strategy has changed after following masses of people in twitter.... the 'noise' he loved maybe a bit different with the multitude of aggregated feeds. - sedgewick
I think this is the origin of story!! March 26 was when I added the bot to my gTalk..!! - Jigar Mehta
I like having each service as an individual contact. Much easier. Can we see the same for Pownce? - Chris Nixon
Well, IMified has taken bot to a next level.. I even created a customized option to check my google calendar appointments for today (a quick schedule for today) by interacting with bot! Not sure, if they have one for Pownce.. - Jigar Mehta via bTT
Oh, this is cool. Now I can post things to FF from Google Talk. - Robert Scoble
Robert: I know you have an iPhone so FF while mobile works well for you but have you tried: http://www.fftogo.com/ yet? I love feedback - Benjamin Golub
Everything is connected now....and I am confused which one to follow :-/ - Joel Thomas
@Joel, FriendFeed is the superset right now.. If you follow FF, everything will be aggregated.. Just wondering will somebody create a service that aggregates FF as well and adds something on top of it!! ?? ;) - Jigar Mehta
@Jigar, you can add FF to MBL now...I think I am doing a full conversion to FF - Joel Thomas
"Sorry, error 403 Forbidden! Looks like the bot is being rate limited, we're trying to fix the problem. Try back in a bit. imified@imified.com" - Lizunlong
Meep. Okay, FriendFeed does have a nice interface :) - Martin Bogomolni
For the last 3-4 days I have been stressed out with twitter as I didn't know why I couldn't get gtalk on my blackberry work with twitter. Well, I found out via twitter help that they have disabled that feature. I wish I knew that 3 days ago. So I have been using twitter SMS on my blackberry and it is definitely a hassle. I will start using FriendFeed alot more now. - Phillip Jeffrey
Twitter is so streamed lined in features it really is hard to believe they are having so much trouyble. - Tony via twhirl
so twitter disabled the gtalk integration?! - acedanger
same here. Now it's reading tweets and tracking that is the gap for me....via feedalizr - Tris Hussey
What does that say about Twitter? Why not drop Twitter for FF? - ChangeForge via twhirl
I agree with a lot of what Alexander is saying. I don't think traditional banner ads will work well in "social" media. I do think "advertising" can work, but it needs to provide a fair 50-50 value trade between community and advertiser: so advertiser provides true value (free content, entertainment, etc in a non-intrusive and non-obnoxious way) in exchange for the community's attention and energy. And this new advertising can't get in the way or slow people down. And the community has to control it. And it has to be grown organically. Hard yes. Impossible, no. Movie companies (Disney) and folks at Deep Focus are doing things like this. And Crispin Porter Bogusky is great at this too. - Ginger Makela
Ginger, an interesting thought. The reason I could see it work is that it could potentially provide everyone with value. But still, the context needs to be right. You can't get in the way of friends interactions for example - Alexander van Elsas
The future of Internet advertising is user made. The key is to make it interesting and/or entertaining. While viral advertising is currently "working" (I believe, I don't have hard numbers), there will be more and more backlash if people feel like it's not genuine. In comes user generated advertising - paying people to make advertisements that other will enjoy. http://tinyurl.com/ydqnf6 is a great example of this. While this is video, I believe it can translate well to other formats as well. - Vince DeGeorge
Vince viral advertisement may be viral, but in most cases the click through rate for any advertisement is really low. User generate advertisement could well work, but there is definitely a trust issue involved too. For example, if you would be paid to produce or to show advertisement, would your friends like that? Difficult to say, but I doubt getting advertisement from a friend is by any better than from an advertiser. - Alexander van Elsas
Working for a marketing agency I can say that while we all know that social advertising means engaging and fun experiences and not boring banner ads, selling this to a client that is still set in the ways of pure product promotion and solid metrics relating to leads is the difficult part. Social networks/media are where peoples' attention is and therefore there is must be an effective way to advertise in this space. But generic banner ads would be the same as running a magazine ad as a TV commercial. - Devlin Dunsmore
I click on ads at my favorite sites just to help keep them alive. - Alex C. Williams
Alexander, I totally agree about the context needing to be right, and that advertising can't get in the way of people interacting with their friends. Seth Godin had a video on his site a few weeks ago that summed this up really well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... Advertisers will have to figure out how to be a player in white. - Ginger Makela
Alex, that 'll be a whole lot of clicking you need to do to keep em alive ;-) - Alexander van Elsas
I'd rather just be matter of fact. Everyone knows that only trolls use three exclamation points. :-) - Robert Scoble
Glad you like it, Robert. I hope Loic doesn't get too mad that I clipped him out of the picture to make it. Yeah I figured you would like having the last word (period). - Lindsay Donaghe
oh, I just realized that Mike posted it! So how did he find out about it if he wasn't watching FriendFeed? That's the only place I had posted it... :) - Lindsay Donaghe
Lindsay: there's a little thing called email. I sent one to Mike. :-) - Robert Scoble
My wife is teh photoshop goddess...All hail Lindsay, mistress of the pixels. - Tad - just Tad
Whatever...Michael Arrington will come to the dark side eventually. - Eric Florenzano
