I'm a developer and got the 3.0 GM last week. There's not a whole lot of new stuff you can use right now. Actually the only useful things available right now is copy and paste and find my iphone (and thats only if you have mobile me). Other than that it's not even a really big deal.

Everyone is experiencing the hold. This is the kind of details Apple goes to to ensure they control the experience for all. It reminds me of one evening during 2001 WWDC when Apple ordered Domino's pizza for everyone for dinner.

Denied! This happened with Leopard when they shipped it - some people were getting it early and Apple tried to stop UPS by putting a 'do not deliver before' date on them. Nice try though. At least we get 3.0 before Friday.

I ordered mine from AT&T last Tuesday. They claim that it will ship overnight on the 18th, so I'll have it on the 19th. My order status still shows "not shipped" which is consistent.

I'm pretty sure Apple's shipping rate is based on delivery on a certain day, regardless of when the items get to the hub. It allows the UPSs of the world to plan their resources. And all overnight shippers are based on the hub and spoke system, so it can sometimes feel like they are going out of their way. "Why didn't they stop at my house? They had to fly right over it!" Besides, doesn't Apple deserve to have an actual product launch day? When the phones actually ... launch - not dribble in for a few days?

Apple is acting very weird based on years of past behavior. In past this type of shipment would arrive early and the Iphone update would have been released late yesterday (stayed up an extra hour to caught the update on the east coast). - new guys running the ship.

I have had this same problem and I am disappointed too, but the real mistake was not that the phone will show up on the 19th, it's that UPS was showing it would arrive earlier. Apple's website claimed it would deliver on the 19th but UPS had scheduled deliveries for the 17th and 18. This one is on UPS in my opinion. As long as the phones arrive on the 19th, Apple has kept their promise and done their job

What's frustrating is that the date of delivery is unknown. The phones could still be delivered on June 18 and people could receive the phones on Friday. However, it would be frustrating to receive the phones after Friday.

Pathfinder for me as well. I've been forcing myself to use it lately and have finally grown to like it. It took a while though. At first blush it was too much and too confusing to see why I would want to use it. Now I kinda like it for a few of it's minor features like tabs and the drop stack and the coolness of the built in terminal drawer.

A person with the Qik source code can either build/deploy it to your iPhone directly or you could install it if it were built with an ad-hoc profile (allows 100 users for demos, etc.). Otherwise, yea jailbreak. From what I read it will never be on App Store.

Is this show worth persevering with? I've watch the first 3 episodes and I'm not loving it.

I think so, Barak. I had the same difficulty getting into it, but it ended up becoming one of my favorite shows.

Thanks David and Kevin. I think given all the critical acclaim it has been getting i'll give it another couple of episodes. It does have some charm just hasn't pulled me in yet.

The best intro EVER for me is Six Feet Under -- but I agree, Mad Men has a great intro (and it's a great show)

Haunting, simple, stark, unsettling. It's one of the few openings I never FF through. It captures the dark sense of dread that underlies the show. Brilliant touch that the agency is pimping Nixon. (FF = fast forward, not friendfeed)

Yeah, I thought it had the best pilot for a TV show I've seen in years. Been hooked since (thank goodness for downloadable TV). And I still think Carnivale had the best intro ever.
