Mine still has not shipped yet.. Ordered on the day it was announced from apple.com :(
- Dominick D'Aniello
I got the same f-ing thing! It went from China to Hong Kong to Anchorage (which is only 200 miles from me), then went all the way to Louisville, KY where it's being HELD! Now it has to come ALL THE WAY BACK to Anchorage!!!
- Michael Halstead
It's happening to eveyone Leo. I was suppose to get mine today. I called UPS and they are indicating that it is a hold for US customs and that it is scheduled for delivery by noon on the 18th. (tomorrow)
- Robb McMahan
Crazy and most still waiting just for the 3.0 Update lol
- Aaron Jones
Wonder if they would give it to you, if you showed up at the depot and asked for it?
- Darren Mak
This has been happening all day, seems they don't want the street date being broken.
- Oli from the-iBlog
I don't get it. It says the receiver requested the hold and not the shipping agent
- Darrell Bell
@Matt Griffin --Stupid it as stupid does. I think Apple does stupid a lot these days!
- Michael Halstead
The same thing happened when I was waiting for my Leopard disk. Fedex held all the packages until the Apple shipdate. I remember the frustration.
- Dave Winer
At least the update is coming today for my iPod Touch! Hang in there Leo! It's funny how they blame LEO for the hold...
- Tony
What's the carbon footprint of these iPhones getting rerouted to Kentucky?
- Tom McCoy
This is just comical to me. Shame on you UPS for doing your job so well.
- Jeff Vreeland
I'm a developer and got the 3.0 GM last week. There's not a whole lot of new stuff you can use right now. Actually the only useful things available right now is copy and paste and find my iphone (and thats only if you have mobile me). Other than that it's not even a really big deal.
- Robb McMahan
Looks like the UK gets 3Gs before the US... YAY
- Tim Evans
Serves you right for broadcasting that you were due to get it early
- Alec Brown
@Tom, Louisville is where customs is for UPS. You would think Alaska, but it's Louisville.
- Robb McMahan
Didn't UPS use to have a estimated delivery date listed? Where did that go?
- Ryan Cates
Seriously, how can it hurt if a few people get it early? Is there really a good reason? Maybe Apple needs to have the iTunes server set up for it or something?
- Jeff Anderson
Everyone is experiencing the hold. This is the kind of details Apple goes to to ensure they control the experience for all. It reminds me of one evening during 2001 WWDC when Apple ordered Domino's pizza for everyone for dinner.
- Vinko
I bet the delivery driver has a pre lol
- davehollis
so if you puts your money down Apple can just stop it?sorry I'm naive.
- gerald miller
Apple website states Apple iPhone 3Gs Available June 19.
- Michael Munnis
Robb, I too had been using 3.0 since last week and I wrote a post to help people decide whether to upgrade to iPhone 3G S or not. http://tr.im/oDB5
- Vinko
that's pretty frustrating, At least you already have an iPhone, it's not like you are going to a whole new device, where you would be super excited.
- Calum
Isn't that amazing! You, the receiver, asked to hold the shipment! Sounds like there is a UPS issue.
- Sean Higgins
It looks like Apple doesn't want Leo to get his iphone until the official release Friday.
- Garmon Estes
I was sad to see this when i woke up this morning :( I'm still on the 1st gen iPhone.
- Erik
Denied! This happened with Leopard when they shipped it - some people were getting it early and Apple tried to stop UPS by putting a 'do not deliver before' date on them. Nice try though. At least we get 3.0 before Friday.
- Mike
I ordered mine from AT&T last Tuesday. They claim that it will ship overnight on the 18th, so I'll have it on the 19th. My order status still shows "not shipped" which is consistent.
- Joey Gibson
@MuscleNerd of iPhone_dev said this: "Those of you tracking your new iPhone 3GS and see "receiver requested a hold" -- don't worry, UPS says it's just a U.S. Customs thing"
- Brian
I'm pretty sure Apple's shipping rate is based on delivery on a certain day, regardless of when the items get to the hub. It allows the UPSs of the world to plan their resources. And all overnight shippers are based on the hub and spoke system, so it can sometimes feel like they are going out of their way. "Why didn't they stop at my house? They had to fly right over it!" Besides, doesn't Apple deserve to have an actual product launch day? When the phones actually ... launch - not dribble in for a few days?
- Ed Hunter
Wonder if someone intercepted the package first? (as in stolen)
- James Hague
Leo it´s Apple, they heard you had bought one of their products and as usual decided to lower the price. But they couldn't do it fast enough so they needed the hold. LOL sorry couldn't resist.
- Ignacio Rodriguez de R,
Appleinsider says that Apple is holding up the phones until it is officially released in stores on Friday.
- gerald miller
Please do not adjust your sets... we are in control of the horizontal and vertical.. your friends at Apple Computers....
- Greg
Yes I think everyone is having the iPhone 3Gs put on hold and will be delivered Friday.
- Michael King
Yup, I have the same thing. THIS close! Ugh. One can hope that the clerical errors that always seem to happen will happen in someone's favor and they will get it early.
- Aaron T. Harvey
wow! leo is tracking his new iphone. NOT SUPRISING AT ALL
- Jonah W. Kemp
Apple is acting very weird based on years of past behavior. In past this type of shipment would arrive early and the Iphone update would have been released late yesterday (stayed up an extra hour to caught the update on the east coast). - new guys running the ship.
- Ed Boutros
I have had this same problem and I am disappointed too, but the real mistake was not that the phone will show up on the 19th, it's that UPS was showing it would arrive earlier. Apple's website claimed it would deliver on the 19th but UPS had scheduled deliveries for the 17th and 18. This one is on UPS in my opinion. As long as the phones arrive on the 19th, Apple has kept their promise and done their job
- Grant
What's frustrating is that the date of delivery is unknown. The phones could still be delivered on June 18 and people could receive the phones on Friday. However, it would be frustrating to receive the phones after Friday.
- Henry
It's get there. Patience shall be rewarded, oh and Wow. Have I truly become a Cross Platform Social Network User? Damn You, Laporte!
- Bill Heald
I would buy the $99.00 with the 3.0 installed!
- earl wallace
Will this all be moot in Snow Leopard?
- Mike Nayyar
I like Pathfinder, but I always end up back in Finder.
- Ryan Cates
from Nambu
I tried Pathfinder but, just end up using Finder for simplicities sake. <dream> I'd like to have the Gnome filemanager.</dream>
- rob friedman
Pathfinder for me as well. I've been forcing myself to use it lately and have finally grown to like it. It took a while though. At first blush it was too much and too confusing to see why I would want to use it. Now I kinda like it for a few of it's minor features like tabs and the drop stack and the coolness of the built in terminal drawer.
- Adam Turetzky
Rob, well, you could use Nautilus if you're either (1) willing to run X or (2) willing to try and build GNOME with native GTK support.
- Victor Ganata
I would say Sarah Lane.... or Justine Ezarik. Both are Tech smart, web 2.0, connected, and appeal to your larger audience.... imho
- walterh
Ryan Block or maybe John Biggs from over @ CrunchGear
- Shawn Farner
I agree that Sarah Lane is a good choice. Smart, but not super-geeky. One to ask intelligent questions. Marty seems unable to hold a normal conversation on mic. As much as I like him, too much of a clown. Why not ask Robert Heron? Geeky, but can hold a straight conversation. They might be good counter-points to one another.
- Krash Coarse
Quite honestly, I know very few people who are as into gadgets as @Mona
- Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins
I don't know Mona's gadget writings, but I'll vote for her just for interestingness, if that's a word - and if it's not, I'll still vote for her :)
- Patrick Jordan
Matthew Miller from ZDNet. (And thanks for the mentions above folks; I'm humbled) :)
- Kevin C. Tofel
Ummm... I'd second the nomination of Mona, Leo.
- l0ckergn0me
James & Kevin of jkontherun, Gottabemobile team, Steve 'Chippy' Paine, jkkmobile, Jenn Lee of Pocketables, Matthew Miller, Jonathan Greene, Michael Connick, Thoughtfix
- Rodfather
Leo, do an audition stunt with Amber and Jason as the other two judges (actually, the thought of my own idea scares me). Chris, Leo bathes in the FF realtime stream, he _may_ see this.
- Micah Wittman
Are you kidding? I have the FF realtime feed open all the time. Thanks for the suggestions.
- Leo Laporte
I'd vote for Cat Schwartz. Not sure if you're able to get her, but it would be great to see you guys do stuff together again. Nudge nudge ;)
- TheMacMommy
from twhirl
I agree with Samuel, it definitely isn't gadgets without the GizWiz, Dick DeBartolo. He's da man!
- Laura Zickus
Unless it causes a rip in the space time continuum, Adam Curry would be a great occasional gear nerd.
- Tom Hofstatter
I think Stephen Fry would be a good one to have on, that guy is a gadget freak.
- Buddy
Yoshi and Robert Heron could cover the spectrum of heavy hardware. You'll need a host to serve as the audience stand-in. Someone who can ask basic questions without looking stupid. Sarah Lane would be good.
- Robert Hafer
Add Chris Pirillo to the show! DO IT!
- Danny Minick
seems the stuff ya plug in would be a natural...phone, camcorders, etc. wierd and wacky perhaps...tho maybe done?. and of course a one hour show on the ipod toilet paper dock.
- Matt Kramer
A gadget show would be great coming from the TWIT studios in downtown Petaluma. I would watch it.
- Stephen Dean
"Groundhog Day" is a perfect analogy for life, how can anyone hate it?
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
I've come across others as well, mostly women. I don't understand it.
- David Knight
I can not get my wife to even watch it. I love it, though.
- Bryan Clark
uh-oh I've got a problem here - Bad: Having the Pennsylvania Polka stuck in your head all day. Worse: It's the version on my 2 y/o's Wiggle CD NOOOOOOooooooo!
- David Knight
+1 David, my wife hates it. I can't understand why !
- Olivier Castets
Phil saw his shadow. Damn - 6 more weeks of winter. Now it won't be Spring until about the 3rd week in March.
- m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
okay, so I now see from previous TWIT Qik video comments by Leo that it does not require a jailbroken iphone. So when will the Qik app officially be released for everyone?
- Johnny
I believe Leo is running a beta version of the AppStore version on his phone.
- Ryan Cates
Don't wait. Qik is only one of the many reasons to jailbreak an iPhone. Check out QuickGold - it's the single biggest reason for me.
- Patrick Pushor
A person with the Qik source code can either build/deploy it to your iPhone directly or you could install it if it were built with an ad-hoc profile (allows 100 users for demos, etc.). Otherwise, yea jailbreak. From what I read it will never be on App Store.
- Ari Braginsky
Amazing the Chargers started 4-8 and made the playoffs
- Bwana ☠
Even better is that Matt Cassel proved that Brady is really a 6th round pick in a decent system. Can I get an "overrated"?!? 11-5 and sat the bench at SC. Simply brilliant!!
- Ryan Cates
Brady went perfect in the regular season and won 3 super bowls. May be a system qb to a certain extent - but really a "6th round pick" is kind of pushing it........
- George Smith
And Brady could be out in 2009 too if he has to go back under the knife, which is a possibility
- Bwana ☠
All is well as the #cowboys are out as well. Only thing that eases the sting of the #skins season.
- Amani
Brady is in a good system, yes, but you still need to be accurate and make good decisions in the Pats offensive schemes -- Brady does do that. This is the only time I'll say anything good about Brady -- it won't happen again anytime soon. :P
- Shey, Jamaican of FF
I haven't been following the season (dangers of being a start up founder), but the pats being out with an 11-5 record is kinda painful.
- mikepk
If it gets more people to wear condoms, I'm all for it.

Lil Wayne... the man, the myth... the linguist.
- rykos
from twhirl
Lil Wayne also sez: "Gangstas and pimps, Love lobsters and shrimps, Kool-Aid and chicken, Flashy things and women. " - These are a few of his favourite things.
- Johnny Worthington
I actually thought you meant to type "weird" cause in my head that made more sense.
- Ryan Cates
He drinks cough syrup all day, babbles incoherently on a mic, and people eat it up like he's the best rapper ever. It's amazing.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
Not gonna lie, the man says some awesome stuff. I hadn't realized 50 was that important as a rapper...HAH. I avoid radio/videos though, so what do I know...
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
Favorite rapper. 2nd best to Jay-Z. He says things that are just...GENIUS! Love him.
- Corvida
So many nuggets of knowledge built into Tha Carter III, Leo. This is one of many, my friend.
- Liz
That's a misquote. It's really: "Safe sex is great sex, better wear a latex / 'cause you don't want that late text, that "I think I'm late" text"
- Hashim Warren
One for true techies: "I got game like EA, but I wanna let you play."
- Sean Quinn
from twhirl
@brian norwood - Leo got the line wrong...Hashim corrected him. It makes plenty of sense and it's promoting safe sex. Not sure why that's worth ignoring?
- Angel Smith
Yeah, I mean. Sometimes I do feel like kicking Wayne in the chest...watch him fall into a bottomless pit...but that's just me :)
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
It's just depressing how much money he'll make from this...
- Brooks Guthrie
from twhirl

damn if yall gonna make fun at least quote the lyrics correctly......
- tae chills
How about using parts of what you were looking forward to before the trip, adding parts of your last thoughts from the trip. You surely have all that in twitter/blog. Then sum that up with some sort of conclusion. Or is the foreword supposed to be about Lightroom the product, not the trip?
- Johan Lindhoff
Is this show worth persevering with? I've watch the first 3 episodes and I'm not loving it.
- Barak B
I think so, Barak. I had the same difficulty getting into it, but it ended up becoming one of my favorite shows.
- Kevin Hessel
Thanks David and Kevin. I think given all the critical acclaim it has been getting i'll give it another couple of episodes. It does have some charm just hasn't pulled me in yet.
- Barak B
David T Cole - can't tell from your comments whether you actually like it.
- Barak B
There is room for Mad Men on FF. Feel free to join and spread the word.
- Paul Denlinger
I think it's a little like Desperate Housewives for smart media people who are good at marketing themselves in the 60s.
- Paul Denlinger
halfway through season 1, great show.
- MG Siegler
Saw the first two episodes of Season 1 last night and I gotta say, Mad Men is an elegant show
- Jorge Escobar
I'm really looking forward to Season 2. One of the best shows on TV.
- David Weiner
Intro-great; Show-amazing. The level of detail they bring to the show is outstanding.
- Ryan Cates
can't wait for the new season of Mad Men this Sunday. Only wish Time Warner had AMC in HD where I live.
- Alan Wages
The best intro EVER for me is Six Feet Under -- but I agree, Mad Men has a great intro (and it's a great show)
- Jorge Escobar
Haunting, simple, stark, unsettling. It's one of the few openings I never FF through. It captures the dark sense of dread that underlies the show. Brilliant touch that the agency is pimping Nixon. (FF = fast forward, not friendfeed)
- Michael Markman
Yeah, I thought it had the best pilot for a TV show I've seen in years. Been hooked since (thank goodness for downloadable TV). And I still think Carnivale had the best intro ever.
- Noah Mittman
Ryan, if you're really looking for best intro ever, I'll say it's a tie between Get Smart and Lavern and Shirley.
- Michael Markman
