There's more strategy in it than it seems. Kinda like baseball is largely a game of math, but you'd never know it.

Yes, the same time that neither PBS nor NPR are running pledge drives. I think it was a Tuesday.

I'm a big fan of using CSS "flags" for metadata. Browser-native search puts it ahead of other techniques, IMO.

It's smooth as a native app for me in Firefox 3.6. Didn't try IE.

It should ask you when you RT. If you've saved the "old" preference accidentally, check the "Twitter" tab in the options.

Depends on its background. If a solid white background, definitely PNG-8.

If the background will be solid *something*, I'd match the matte to background and stay PNG-8 for size/compat. Just keep the .psd.

That's interesting. I didn't realize there was that big a difference in JS speed between 3.5 and 3.6.

Three separate NDAs with the same company today. I'm at the edge of an efficiency black hole. Must not fall in.

The horizontal slider here is slick:

Nice touch with the mouse wheel support. Give me that over Flash/SL any day.

Now that VS Express supports Web Application Projects (for designers, etc), just about always.

I'll often start simple web "sites" as website projects, but the want for build events usually forces migration.

I haven't really found a big need for that. I use configSource to keep specific SMTP/DB settings out of the web.config.

What kills me is when someone uses $(this).val() when this.value is all they needed.

Fax and mailing steps add more friction than they should for me. I'll put off for days what I would've done instantly if it were electronic.

I see commercials about "the cloud", and dread my small business clients wanting to move their local apps to slow WAN links.

The "File" tab in Office 2010 is a great improvement. Very useful.

Elements with display:none don't participate in layout at all. visibility:none still takes up space, but isn't visible.

Exactly. Most ISPs already sell clickstream data on thier users. Anonymity online is an illusion.

Nothing specific. Depending on what you need, you may be able to get away with using ADO.NET Data Services (Astoria).

This misconception about UpdatePanels is *such* a common one:

True. Seems like UpdatePanels bring those looping progress update questions out of the woodwork though.
