I tried Uberman and Everyman. I like to sleep polyphasically, but Uberman requires too much discipline for me, I think.

I can actually relate to this guy. And I thought I was the only one with a strange internal clock. I don't think it would be very easy to stick to a schedule of napping like he suggests.

Not easy at all. And actually the first two weeks needed to adapt to the schedule can be very hard. But I found that my sleep is of better quality when I sleep polyphasically. It's also nice to have a few more hours of free time per day. It can even become a problem if you can't think of anything to keep you busy (and thus awake), especially at night.

Yikes, Mathew. Did something similar happen to you?
- Phil Glockner
Unfortunately so. That is why I am an apartment dweller and no longer own my home. At least, I now qualify for some assistance with my medical care. But there are many, many folks much worse off than myself.

I got caught in the trap of the increasingly smaller "middle class" here in the US. I made just enough to not qualify for any assistance and my previous employer kept slashing the level of benefits in the only healthcare insurance that they offered.

See, IMO it is worse to offer insurance that is severely limited than no insurance. I spent 8 months dumping over $400/month into the quasi-coverage insurance I had while I was a contractor, and they manged reject close to 80% of the claims I submitted. I would have been better off just keeping the cash.
