What's your green vision of the future should we enviros get our way? (inspired by vertial gardens post)
Not to beg the question -- but if don't get our way, there *is* no future. Not one we'd want, anyway. - Chris Baskind
No no no, focus on the positive, the aspirational. Give me "green roofs aplenty banish the heat island effect", "rainwater catchment systems for every house". You know, the good news a la http://www.fugue.com/pics... - Cat Laine
The 21st century is about one thing: energy. If we are successful in getting over the hump -- and by this, I mean replacing dwindling fossil fuels before they are exhausted or become unaffordable -- energy will be cheaper than at any time in human history. This opens many new possibilities. Cheaper energy means cheaper food, which we'll need to support a growing population. It means there will be less pressure to urbanize. It means things we haven't yet imagined. - Chris Baskind
@Matrixx333 Nice! Thanks for the Cradle to Cradle vid. - Cat Laine
Yeah Matrixx, just watched that too. Very very good. Particularity the idea of moving beyond sustainability, into an even more proactive design approach. Opened my eyes to my own dogmatic eco-thinking: that using less was the ideal. No, its making it all work even more efficiently; 110%. Redefining "waste" as a concept. Because thinking only in terms of abuse vs. conservation, is very 20th century. What they're talking about here is more like symbiosis instead of sustainability. Brilliant. Gave me hope. - Ňicķ
