Want to write about tagging now! Are there any new ideas like Microsoft Researchers' Collabio?
"What’s the most powerful, untapped information repository on the Web today? If you said Wikipedia, please go stand in the corner." http://research.microsoft.com/display... - Erhan Erdogan
"Faviki's backend uses DBpedia, a community-maintained database created by extracting structured info from Wikipedia and turning that into a database which you can query. (You can read our previous coverage on DBpedia here). This means that instead of just being words, the tags in this data model become references to objects which are categorized automatically. An example from the Faviki blog cited an example using the tag "Coca-Cola." An item you tagged with this concept would actually reference the unique URL http://dbpedia.org/data... (the tag is the last part of that URL). Under other tagging systems, the same item may have been tagged with cocacola, coca-cola, coca+cola, CocaCola, but in Faviki, it's simply "Coca-Cola." And because the tags structure is already emanating from the largest collection of concepts in the world - Wikipedia - their format is already standardized and agreed upon by the community." http://www.readwriteweb.com/archive... - Erhan Erdogan
"The basic idea of this site is that a brand exists entirely in people's heads. Therefore, whatever it is they say a brand is, is what it is. 1.2 million + tags and counting." http://www.brandtags.net/ - Erhan Erdogan
"save hundreds even thousands of websites and retrieve each one again in seconds see which sites your friends found interesting join or create groups based around interests or projects find the sites you're really looking for e.g. Apple (computers) vs. Apple (fruit) "http://www.zigtag.com/ - Erhan Erdogan
"Social bookmarking is a powerful tool in promoting a website. But going through all of those social bookmarking sites is very time-consuming and downloading all toolbars is madness!" http://www.socialmarker.com/ - Erhan Erdogan
"Photos have iPhoto. Music has iTunes. But when it comes to PDFs, you're on your own. That is, until now. Now there is Yep and there's no looking back. Start Yep for the first time and it automatically shows you all your PDFs tagged based on where they were found on your hard disk. But the real fun begins when you start adding your own tags. You'll never go back to a hierarchical filing system again. " http://yepsoftware.com/index... - Erhan Erdogan
"Notae keeps all of your thoughts together. It lets you tag each item with words that are important to you, not just with predefined labels. Then, when you need that data the most, Notae lets you quickly search your data by content or tag to find what you’re looking for." http://www.codepoetry.net/product... - Erhan Erdogan
I tried ZigTag for several months. There were so few users, then I discovered that it was in development for years so I left. - Russellreno
"Avenir enables you to manage the creative process like never before. You can track, tag and filter characters, scenes, locations, research and more with the unique dynamic outline. It even provides special tools for fiction writers like word frequency counting and a progress meter to help you meet your daily writing goal." http://returnself.com/ - Erhan Erdogan
Russell: I'm only saving ideas by reading and then sharing points that I noted. Ziptag is a good *idea* but not a good project : ) isn't it? - Erhan Erdogan
Yeah I've abandoned Zigtag for now - Shey, Jamaican of FF
"One of my favorite Facebook features is auto-tagging. It happened to me last night by accident and ended up being one of those very rare moments of using a product where I got a big grin on my face. The feature comes into play when the service recognizes that a photo or video upload happened around the same general time of an event you said you were planning to attend through Facebook's party planning tools. If your photo or video upload occurs within these conditions you'll be prompted to have it automatically tagged and dropped into the event's photos and videos section." http://news.cnet.com/8301-17... - Erhan Erdogan
OMG "Bookmark Tags is a Firefox extension that provides a different way of looking at your bookmarks: they're "tagged" by the folders that contain them. Folders in different parts of the bookmarks hierarchy with the same name represent the same tag. Bookmark Tags therefore lets you manage your bookmarks in a non-hierarchical way. When you add a bookmark, instead of choosing the one folder to put it in, you choose the tags you want to give it and Bookmark Tags files the bookmark for you. When you recall a bookmark, instead of hunting for it through folders and subfolders, you browse by tags. " http://cs.stanford.edu/people... - Erhan Erdogan
"VideoTag is a fun one player tagging game. Tag some of the funniest YouTube videos, avoid the pitfalls and progress to the next level. See if you can make the top of the leaderboard and become the ultimate video tagger."http://www.videotag.co.uk/ - Erhan Erdogan
"A Tagging Bookmarklet for WordPress and WordPress.com Users I get a lot of questions about the tags I use at the bottom of most of my posts. I used to feature two sets of tags, one for Technorati tags and the other as navigation tags to search my site. Up until recently, these were created from a text file I kept open all the time with my tag list all laid out. I’d copy and paste the tags I wanted into the bottom of each post. Well, now I don’t have to. The technique I use for putting my Site Search Tags on the bottom of each post uses a bookmarklet. " http://lorelle.wordpress.com/2005... - Erhan Erdogan
One day, Scoble said me "tagging friendfeed" won't be useful any day. But I love my "taggz" idea. http://friendfeed.com/search... - Erhan Erdogan
-THE TIRED END- :-) - Erhan Erdogan
Also other writings about "tagging" are in my delicious now. http://delicious.com/erhaner... - Erhan Erdogan
Tagging could have syntax to define personal personal tags "/Study 101/" and a community moderated (via up or down vote after addition) main set of tags "tech+/-, 2.0+/-, folksonomy+/-, /Study 101/". I also reckon auto tagging should be opt out (all tags are there select which ones to remove) rather than select which ones to add. - Allan Anderson
talking about the visual side: tag clouds get massy easily, we need to find new visual methods to show tags. - Bager Akbay
Bager: This is for you. It's a tag galaxy not only a cloud; there is no atmosphere. : ) --> http://taggalaxy.de/ - Erhan Erdogan
@erhan that's a nice one, but still no more than an experiment ;) - Bager Akbay
