Toast that comes out of the toaster was clearly destined to become toast because that is what it has become. We cannot look at a piece of bread and know that it was meant to be toast until it has become toast but once it has become toast we can say, 'Ah, yes, this slice of bread has become toast and thus it clearly has existed in a pre-toasted state up until now.' And thus: toast goes in the toaster.
- Akiva Moskovitz
This flies in the face of Schroedinger's Toast Theory which suggests that bread placed into a toaster exists both in a toasted and untoasted state that can not be determined until the damn thing pops up. It's one of the most delicious smelling theory in all of science.
- Akiva Moskovitz
I have had too much wine to follow this any further
- Brian Sullivan
but then you should have said "Pre-toast goes in the toaster."
- edythe
:-D But Akiva, if I'm following you correctly, you might as well say excrement comes out of the toaster, because the toast "was clearly destined" to be eaten and subsequently excreted. You could go a step farther and say the nitrogen from the excrement goes into the ground, where it is taken up by more wheat, to make more toast, to become more excrement. Thus the universe is excrement in a constant state of becoming itself.
- Karim
Maybe it's not that "shit happens" so much as "shit is happening."
- Karim
The toast is not toast. There is no toast. There is no bread. There are only crumbs. All else is illusion.
- Roger Benningfield
@Brian Actually, I think Loic Le Meur is the supreme bread being (if I dream tonight about Loic teaching me to bake bread, I will have to stay off all social media for a week).
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
Roger, that is very close to being a Crumbist heresy!
- Karim
Edythe:The toast is not toast. There is no toast. There is no bread. There are only crumbs. All else is illusion.
- Roger Benningfield
if (empty $toaster) { $toaster += $bread; while ($bread != $toast) ... }
- Tim Hoeck
from NoiseRiver
roger, i actually meant karim, but i'll take what i can get. :)
- edythe
Edythe: Thank you for confirming that I am, indeed, the Mr. Pibb to everyone else's Dr. Pepper.
- Roger Benningfield
lol awwww Roger, that is not what she meant... :-D Besides, I heard Pibb recently got his doctoral degree...
- Karim
i think they have something called Mr. Pibb Extra now.
- edythe
of course, it goes without saying that the water in the Mr. Pibb, extra or otherwise, was always destined to be Mr. Pibb, and therefore should be more accurately referred to as "water ingredient for Mr. Pibb". And the same goes for water ingredient for Dr. Pepper.
- Trent Olson
Karim, if you place a slice of bread into your toaster and then out pops excrement, I'd contact the manufacturer immediately and lodge a formal complaint. That toaster is a little TOO efficient.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Akiva, i think your comment has a typo...don't you mean to say "and then out *poops* excrement"? makes much more sense...
- Trent Olson
OMG you guys! Y'all have brought tears to my eyes.
- Yolanda
Hey... that rhymes! I wish there was a way to favorite a conversation here.
- Yolanda
Wow. This just kept going after I signed off last night. You guys crack me up. For shizzle.
- Lisa L. Seifert
I cannot believe that despite the name-dropping in this thread, that nobody actually asked me. I would clearly have illustrated how Akiva is wrong - again.
- Louis Gray
This is the one thing that I am definitely not wrong about.
- Akiva Moskovitz
This still cracks me up. Also, I miss Karim.
- Yolanda
I don't have a toaster, yet I can make toast. How is this possible?
- Jim Hearts FF
Yolanda, me, too. He was the best drive-by commenter in his class.
- Akiva Moskovitz
If toast goes in the toaster, then a wife goes down the altar. Since I do not believe a pre-vows bride is a wife, I cannot agree that bread that has yet to be toasted is toast. [edit: also, if a toaster malfunctions and does not do any toasting, you don't have toast]
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
What's not clear: were the videos in question ever on the phone, and second, surely if this was an issue, they would have done due diligence before the deal.
- Duncan Riley
from Bookmarklet
From the news report: "Verizon said the controversial video was never shown on it's vcast service, and was never intended to be made available."
- Ken Sheppardson
The video in question was posted A YEAR AGO! Didn't Verizon see this coming?
- Pat Hawks
Pat, my question exactly. Ken, I heard that bit, but then what were people protesting about? the context doesn't fit, how can you boycott something that wasn't there?
- Duncan Riley
Someone found out about the video, a huge public protest happened, it would become a media circus because someone used a keyword "racism". So Verizon went nuts and said "Ohh we need to make a statement and do something now! Who cares what?"
- Candace
Maybe people are just upset Verizon would do business with Feldman?
- Pat Hawks
Verizon is full of shit. Loren is not a racist... I'm not going to stand for this PC crap!
- Noah David Simon
ok, is it just me or did Channel 4 News spell "activist" wrong? acctivist? just sayin'
- Christine Lu
It doesn't matter when the videos were made - much like it doesn't matter when a scandal arises over someone else's past behavior - like Obama's pastor & McCain's association w/ Gov. Williams. The behavior may be in the past - but the "guilt by association" is always in the present. Verizon clearly decided not to get behind Loren in this. Sometimes, your past does come back to haunt you. Even if it's not 'fair'.
- Lucretia Pruitt
Lucretia, the thing that doesn't make sense is why Verizon didn't think about this BEFORE making the deal, sense the videos didn't just pop up.
- Pat Hawks
Too bad the social media doesn't have the power of the mainstream media yet. Verizon could get a load of us calling "bs" on the whole thing. Though I doubt that will make them panic as much as this story did. ...It's terrible but, I'm laughing. Because this...this is funny.
- Candace
I like the Rev Wright angle. That's double groovy with one and half twists.
- Oldengrey (Jay)
I think video is racist. Verizon and 1938 is a different story but the video is racist.
- Akshay Dodeja
Verizon is just a bunch of dolts wearing suits. If they didn't see it before it's because they didn't look for it. In other words: they didn't do their job. When they awoke from their slumber they were being pushed around by a bunch of hysterical PC ankle-biters.
- William, CPU Media
Media Circus time-Loren gets to follow the elephants and clean up.
- Mark Forman
hahaha this is great. I feel like 'internet people' have a much healthier conception of racism. Taking tech nigga out of context could easily make Loren a racist. But it really started a conversation, which is what I think what Loren originally hoped to do.
- Daniel Morgan
"Hello LA Humanity? This is Dave Winer. Did you know..." Have to say, glad to see feldboy getting nailed. Yep I am.
- jeneane sessum
@daniel morgan . I'm sorry but your comment "internet people" I find degrading to those of us who use the internet. I am afraid I am going to have to begin a public boycott of Friend Feed since they are allowing you to be on Friend Feed spouting such degrading stereotypes of people on the internet. ...I guess the internet is serious business after all.
- Candace
It appears things flared up over the weekend. I would just guess that in the wake of the announcement, the public started browsing Loren's back catalog. The video is linked to and/or embedded on a number of sites over the past few days. The earliest references to the boycott by Najee Ali, Project Islamic Hope, that I can find are from yesterday: http://tinyurl.com/5k4bxq and http://tinyurl.com/6s86yh.
- Ken Sheppardson
While we're at it -- screw YOU for not having some frickin respect.
- Shey, Jamaican of FF
There's a difference between the state quashing free speech and people using free speech to influence the financial dealings of a private actor. Just sayin', 'tain't censorship. Loren owes his success to controversy, but that's a double-edged sword.
- Madsimian
Thanks for sharing this, Duncan, since I wouldn't have seen it otherwise, inasmuch as I'm ignoring Los Angeles local TV news, VCAST, and Najee Ali. Not boycotting, ignoring.
- Ontario Emperor
I saw a comedian once who said he wonders if pigs lick themselves to see what the fuss is about. It would kinda suck to know that everyone loves you as much as people love bacon.
- Trish R
i love the smell of bacon in the morning
- Baard @ Pixum
Baconsalt! And now it's selling in UK from www.crazy4flavour.co.uk with quick delivery and way lower shipping cost than getting it from Seattle!
- Stu Nutt
ah, you deleted the youtube vid? Hah.. weird, thats why I clicked like and nothing happened.. and the comment just hung trying to submit. it's interesting watching how other people use FF... you need the Friends and Groups greasemonkey script, Mona!
- Tim Hoeck
Really? Hold on... the high quality one isn't showing up. Man, this is terrible. Please bear with me while I try to figure it out =( Thank you. As for the greasemonkey script, I know LOL. I need to do that ...soon
- Mona Nomura
You need a sound effect to go with your scrolling action, Mona. I suggest the revving motor of an engine as it races past....nnnnnyyyyyyaaaaaaaooooooo,
- Pete Delucchi
That was fun :) I use FF in pretty much the same way
- Bob Kingsley
I love the video! Thanks for the mention, you rock Mona :)
- Mike Fruchter
@Mike I fully expect a MonaChannel when Streamulo is out of super secret beta. Sign Me UP!
- Carlos Ayala
Predictions come true. First step to Rock Stardom. Moooona ! Hyper-scrolling!
- Charlie Anzman
"My feed is ample" eloquent while frantic. Nice.
- Josh Haley
Believe it or not, there IS method to my madness ;) Thank you Josh, Mike, Carlos, AJ, Charlie! @Bob: Thank goodness, I thought I scared everyone :)
- Mona Nomura
Thank you Mona, trying Jing...and love the hyperscrolling bit. Why did you take down the video?
- nieuwbouw20
nieuwbouw20, ty :) after recording the clip. don't forget to compress the file w/ an online converter (there are free ones!) the clip is still here: http://www.youtube.com/watch...
- Mona Nomura
OMG your voice is uncannily like an ex-girlfriend. Everything about it, your use of language, the tone, your inflections, ... Watching this video was giving me flashbacks LOL Good flashbacks, pleasant memories. You have a nice voice. Also, I friendfeed almost exactly the same.
- ·[▪_▪]·
omg, Ok. I'm super ultra embarrassed now... :|
- Mona Nomura
From what I can receive here in The Netherlands, a praise from Buchanan is a big issue. It's nice to see the way that politics in your country can get personal and touch the people that it's meant for... Respect for that!
- Marco
interesting... no comments allowed on this post - email the author instead
- Steven Hodson
I saw that as well, Steven, otherwise, I would have commented.
- Louis Gray
I think it's hurting by choice, because we simply spending too much time on them (maybe instead of blogging...)
- Orli Yakuel
interesting Louis, you read the post which does not encourage email , yet you post/share on FF .. whihc very well you know will get comments . Why ?
- Peter Dawson
I'm more informed and that helps. But there is a limit...
- Lech
Peter, I don't see any downside to sharing an item that came through RSS. I've been reading Chris for some time, and he's active here, so maybe he'll let us know why comments are closed. This isn't an end-around, per se.
- Louis Gray
Louis, no downside. It will be interesting to see if Chris actually participants here. He is running a very good POC . I hope that he gives us feedback to the email response's he gets. IMHO, he deliberately closed comments to his post.
- Peter Dawson
I've noticed that a few of the bloggers here have set up their blogs so that comments from FriendFeed are pulled directly into their blog post. As a commenter, I was a little surprised to see my own comment on one of these posts, but I think it is a great way to capture the conversation.
- Laura Norvig
Both. I spend more time here than on my blog. And the blog suffers because of this neglect. On the plus side if things, I get more mateial here because of the strong interactivity of the FF audience and greater feedback too.
- Roberto Bonini
@Laura, do you know how that's done? Or would it not work on sites like Blogger etc?
- Deborah Fitchett
the plugin is only for Wordpress.. not available for blogger platform
- Peter Dawson
I'm not a blogger(yet) but I look at any interaction with other people both good and bad as helpful.
- Lindsey is Fierce!
hurting, but that's just because it's moving my passion from what i used to blog about...
- Morgan
Helping a lot, I learn faster and get more feedback from the super people here who never stop asking smart questions and stimulating new ideas/suggestions for more.
- Sally Church
@Justin mucho gracis for da linky to blogger widget.
- Peter Dawson
I've been wondering why we hear so little about Yahoo Pipes, such a cool application / add-on for any website - is there renewed traction there?
- Marko Bon
from fftogo
@Mattb4rd - me too! But I found the Social media firehose was a nice entry to using pipes.
- Erin McMahon
yahoo pipes is perhaps one of the most useful services available. Now if only I could make my own pipes instead of cloning other pipes!
- Rahul Das
I tried to tinker with that Yahoo Pipes. IT'S CONFUSING!!!
-
same here... cool concept which is really easy to understand, but implementing it is super complicated and frustrating...needs way better User Interface... ok smart devs get busy!!
- Susan Beebe
Very good Louis. That's interesting, I was just thinking about that the other day, since we normally don't do that on VB. Though I don't write all that much on PL anymore, I get confused sometimes between the two different formats.
- MG Siegler
did you ever know that you're my hero... your every brightkite update to me... did you ever know that your're my hero... for you, you are my everything
- Allen Stern
Another important question is what happens to that poor toilet roll. It could be used to make school projects and wotnot.
- Stu Andrews
from twhirl
hee. i also cheer myself when i change the roll. :)
- edythe
Oooh, I'm totally an over. WTF people do under?! What's the advantage?!
- Felicia
I get excited cause I can make another pin-hole camera... Sad :(
- Johnny Worthington
Is there a FAN ART depicting this? Also, under is just wrong.
- Kirk
I go by what puts the TP itself closest the wall. If recessed dispenser, over. If protruding dispenser, under. (Yes, I just admitted all of this publicly.)
- The One True b!X
If we put it in Over, the cats will pull all the paper off the roll. Under stymies them, they can't push upwards very well with their paws.
- DGentry
Don't be so flip about this! It is a serious challenge for me to change the toilet paper roll. a) They seal those things in carbonite b) I can never tell which is the right or left side and c) I am inept at spring-loaded wall accessories. I have dents in my wall from unintended dowel launches.
- XDpaul
You CAN do it, and you'll feel so much better and be healthier longer because of it.:-)
- Cathryn Hrudicka
That's awesome! I think 14-days means your done. I agree with Paul. You're a non-smoker now. Congrats!
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
Yay!! Go Mona!! Reward yourself with BACON! :-)
- Lisa L. Seifert
Thank you so much, guys. Your support has done more than any of you can ever imagine... Lisa: That's the problem, I'm replacing cigarettes with food! Can anyone say clothes too tight? LOL!
- Mona Nomura
wow.. thats great.. I relapsed after 10D :(-
- Peter Dawson
Seriuosly, not picking up a cigarette is SO hard. I'm looking into aides. I know studies show after three days, or seven days, or whatever, means you're no longer addicted, but it is SO not. I've been smoking 10+ years and now that I stopped, I realized how much of my daily routine, as well as emotions were tied into nicotine....
- Mona Nomura
keep it up. I quit jan. 1. It gets easier!
- Wes Hoogenboom
I haven't had a ciggie in almost a year and i still get the cravings, but nowhere near as bad. The gum does help a bit, but it's mostly pure stubborness that does it. If you can talk yourself into having a ciggie, you can talk yourself out of it.
- sergiooo
Go, Mona! 14 days means you're over the worst. No. Really- you are!
- Donna Mugavero
Aaron: I've always wanted to say that! I quit smoking for you, 'xxx' @Sergio: That's what I'm trying to do. Announcing it everywhere so I don't go back on my word, and tell myself: I.am.better. @Donna, thank you :)
- Mona Nomura
I'm proud of you Mona. You can do it, just hang in there. :)
- Dennis Jackson
Oh, and I quit smoking I guess it's been over a year ago now. That was right around when I started working out. I've never felt better. Never have cravings or anything.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
hmmm, this is getting uncomfortable. i'm still an outcast smoker :/
- mike
Rah: Ya, I'm looking into gyms lol. Currently, all I do is Yoga, and I go like.. uhhh once a month? HA @mike: Quit when you want to quit ;)
- Mona Nomura
I'm very proud of you. My father never managed to quit. Please keep trying.
- DGentry
Mona, not only can it be done, but with the kind of motivating support structure you've got here, you're bound to keep it up. U keepz us posted, k?
- Pete Delucchi
Denton, thank you so much :) My entire family is / was chain smokers.
- Mona Nomura
Always happy to hear of another person quitting!
- Marci Maleski
I thought getting support was a sign of weakness, but seriously, I don't think I could've done it w/out you guys... All my friends are smokers LOL
- Mona Nomura
Use the weakness as your strength, padawan. The force is strong with you, you can do it.
- Pete Delucchi
がんばれ!I gave up on trying to convince friends to stop smoking just because I knew how hard it was for them... If you're able to quit, major props to ya!
- minceyfresh
Do you drink? I found the urge was strongest when I had a beer. You'll do great. Keep it up!
- Mark Wilson
I'm guessing you have a different Chris Martin in mind. I had the name for 4 years before that bugger came along. ;)
- cjmart
Your computer & gadgets will love you all the more for it! And think of the computers and gadgets you can buy with all the money saved from not smoking... Just be careful with all that good (non frozen) food that suddenly tastes like something again :P
- Michael Leuker
Mona - The only thing I can add is that (I've been there FOUR times) ... It only takes ONE before you're buying a carton. You kinda get that feeling 'I'm havin a bad day ... if I only had one' ... The one doesn't do anything for the bad day ... and you're smokin' again. Keep it up! You can do it!!!!!
- Charlie Anzman
Thank you, Charlie. You don't know how hard it is!!
- Mona Nomura
well done, Mona! my parents were never able to go as much as three days, so i'm seriously impressed. keep it up!
- idnan
Great job Mona!! I just quit few months ago myself, so I know how hard that is. Keep it up!! You're doing great!!

"MILWAUKEE — They're giving two thumbs up to the bronze Fonz in Milwaukee. Dozens of people lining the Milwaukee River downtown cheered as a bronze statue of the Happy Days character was unveiled Tuesday." sharing this because I loved the headline...
- Robert Seidman

It's cool -- but I'm not sure I'd recognize it as the Fonz without a sign.
- Chris Baskind
It's disturbing how much press the bigfoot story has gotten. Come on ppl! really!?
- Percival
Why not? It would not delete things off the internet, just apply a rating system to clients who wanted to partake (firefox extension?). Since it's digg like everyone knows not to take it too seriously, but it's still another indicator of good/horrible content. I'd sign up, and I'm a big one for not censoring content.
- Royce Mathew
the inability to bury things on the internet is why I don't leave digg or FF, if I can help it.
- Bob Blunk
I've not messed with StumbleApon lately, but I'd think that would be a starting point.

Spot on Patricia. She has a lot of heart and that shows.
- Mathew A. Koeneker
Because she is so "likeable" and a cool chick/woman/person!
- Mark Forman
She is herself. If that means exploring seemingly juxtaposition themes from one day to the next, so be it. She takes you on a journey with her posts, makes you think with her comments, gives you reason to smile with both.
- Michael W. May
She exposes me to many more cool things I would not have found otherwise.
- Michelle Martinez
Polly finds great non-tech stuff. She's the first person I ran into on FriendFeed who posted cool non-technology items. Thanks so much Polly for reading so many people's feeds & sharing your interests with us.
- Mitchell Tsai
She's sweetly omnipresent -- kind of like a Friendfeed goddess.
- Ginger Makela Riker
oh, my... aww. is this a meme now? are we telling each other why we like each other? :)
- edythe
oh, you guys... these things you're all saying are so sweet. yikes.
- edythe
She always likes stuff and hardly comments, under that 'like' , there is a wonderful tapestry of content which then finds out about Polly and what she IS. Hard to define what I am saying.. but I tried :)-
- Peter Dawson
Has definitely been instrumental in connecting me with a lot of people due to her ability to Like stuff I like.

I just had the idea pop in my head as I logged on the home pc that I wanted to drop a pebble of positivity in this pool of ours. Not that there isn't one all ready but I have been on a roll today and just wanted to keep the streak alive in the personal life. Often times, I forget or might just be to timid let the folks who have touched my life know that they have done so. As I suspected, she has touched many a life here in her uniquely excellent way!
- Mathew A. Koeneker
Without her "likes", I would have missed out on tons of fun stuff!!
- JA Castillo
too many reasons, so I'll just say her beautiful <3

Have you see her all in gold? Like a queen in days of old...
- Mrsth

'cause she's so cool and she loves the kitties!

This is not very eloquent, but, I just like her. I've yet to see any post of hers that makes me like her less or think "hmmmm, something's not quite right.". gold star for Polly.
- Yolanda
That is just weird. It reminds me of the aliens from Fifth Element.

That's sorta gross but if it's red velvet with cream cheese frosting, I'll tolerate the weirdness. Bring me some milk and napkins and stand aside.
- Anthony Citrano
MONA! I was just thinking about this today. Lately, I would much rather be sitting at the computer in the company of my FF friends than engaging with my "real" friends. :-/
- Anna Haro
I agree, Anna. I find FF to be much more positive than my real life.
- Michelle Martinez
I'm with you, but it's sort of a source of concern -- do you think it's healthy? Are we all screwing up our lives this way.
- Nathan Rein
So what's the magic spell to homogenize the experience?
- ɐ ɯıʞ sıɹɥɔ
I agree - I've had more fun with people here than I have lately IRL. I think I would talk to my real friends more if they used FF too. Then my friends could get with your friends, we could do this every weekend!

FF has become my most enjoyable web experience, it's highly addictive, and still i don't see it replacing Face-to-face interaction with my RL friends. I see no competition between the 2, things come together just fine.
- Majento
so this is what powdering your nose is.
- Geoff Schultz
Mona: the bathroom again? ewwww... and yes, you are antisocial, in the traditional sense. You are metasocial though!
- Louie
Metasocial, I like that, did you make it up? If so TM it IMO.
- Geoff Schultz
This sounds kind of weird but I find it much easier to "maintain friendships" online than off, simply because of the lack of available time to meet with people in meatspace. FF (and other networks) gives me the ability to socialize when it's convenient for me. And the fact that I can participate in a conversation not in real time is also convenient. I am only anti-meatspace-social for lack of free time.
- Lindsay
You know it doesn't hurt at all that there is this constant stream of topics to talk about literally endlessly. In the "Real World", if such distinctions are really required anymore since this is real enough for me, you burn through your topics and your done in no time and then what.
- Geoff Schultz

Walking long distances works just fine for me. Positively a problem with lots of people sitting all day
- Charlie Anzman
hitting up some Bikram in about 15 mins. I agree. Walking, running, lifting is NOT adequate. You must also work the mind to eliminate stress. Yoga is the only thing I have found to effectively focus the mind.
- Ryan
Always wanted to try Yoga... probably should one of these days. I've been biking as a stress reliever recently.
- Pre Priyadarshane
Have to agree that Yoga does the most to help the "hunch" - but to Ryan, I've found that Karate does more to focus the mind. Amazing what the chance to get hit will do to your focus. ;-)

Heh Michael, yeah, FF is a GREAT topic at dinner parties. Attracts all the ladies.
- Eric Rice
@Michael, I feel your pain. I heard someone say they were going to put event pics up on MySpace, and I looked at the rest of my table and said "But he's old enough for FaceBook!". The response I got was 'blink, blink'... =/

My blogging experience reflects that of Lynne, Michael and myself. What's left of my family, however, do read my blog on occasion, and sometimes get quite pissy when they're mentioned. So, I don't.
- Helen Sventitsky
I second Michael. Most of the "local" friends I have aren't interested in web things.
- Dereck
my friends don't because they don't get why i don't just talk about me or they hate blogs in general. a few people i know have told me that don' t like seeing comments from people they don't know and that they'll join once i password protect my blog to just that circle of friends, even though i don't hang with them or blog on anything vacuous enough that they'd be interested in.

None of my family or offline friends read my blog because it seems too remote from their image of me. Plus they think it's a little strange that I impersonate a rodent.
- Sprague D
I guess my blog is pretty specialized so I don't really expect them to. Although my wife does learn about a few things going on in my head
- Steven
every time i ask my wife if she reads my blog she reminds me she has to listen to me say everything i inevitably write. but my mom is an avid reader!
- Jeremy Toeman
Every time I ask my husband if he read my latest blog post, he says, "You have a blog?"
- Joan Schramm
My mom reads my blog. She says it's well-written, but she never gets the really technical stuff.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
according to my stats nobody reads mine except my mom.

I've been reading a number of articles about Solzhenitsyn and thinking what would have happened if he had written a blog? What if he was trying to please the Kremlin, would we have gotten Gulag Archipelago or a Day in the life of Ivan? I think there's some good tips in the article but I would not go with the last one. Write what you believe and what you know. If your friends don't know what you believe by now, don't you think you owe it to them to tell them? (good taste and winsomeness thrown in)

It's interesting how many people actually commented on the change. Right now, I'm toying with the idea of further antics with editing my display name.

He said stable, not usable. He is pointing out a number of buggy software issues.

I have had days where I can no longer send emails from my iphone. Reboots don't make it better. Email is the most important thing on my phone , if that doesn't work I could just go back to SMS.

was this the case with the first iphone? is it due to all the new apps that have been released, which may be causing bugs? if it is, then it's not really the operating system, but the software developer
- Cee Bee
I have the same original iphone and this started happening when I upgraded to the 2.0 OS. Even if the apps are at fault in someway, which I kinda doubt, it is Apple's responsibility to make sure that the core functionality continues to be reliable.

the issue seems to be a little of both - the new firmware, and 3rd party apps.. the article mentions problems even with the built in Safari browser crashing.
- Tim Hoeck
My iPhone 3G is stable, but the Safari browser crashes sometimes with to many pages open at the same time.
- Svartling
Tim: For me stability = usability. If it crashes (i.e. is unstable) then you can't use it. I had a problem when email didn't come in at all over night one night. I shut the iPhone off and turned it on -- problem solved. Granted apps didn't crash as he describes in Windows Mobile, but you also can't do the same kind of web browsing using Pocket IE in Windows Mobile that you can do in Safari on an iPHone. It's not an apples to apples comparison :)
