tekrat on How can there not be "Goatzilla" implented. - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"I only think it hasn't been done because the early maps are kinds small. One Goatzilla to any kind of scale could cross the map in a few steps. Plus the tongue mechanics would be hard to code and target on a specfic item." - Ervin Kosch

"Basically its a broken iOS/Android game that later got ported to the PC by BigFish games two years ago. Recently it got an 'HD' remake and released onto Steam with all the same glitches as the previous two versions (see the video for TB's comments). I compared the Big Fish version and the current version and graphical differences and all I can see is that they changed title screen to HD resolution." - Ervin Kosch

tekrat on WTF Is... - Goat Simulator - YouTube - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"I personally love Goat Simulator because its a stupid, cheap, fun game. And yes, I love the YouTube bait. The frame rate didn't bother me so much. The small map and few objective though kills the game after a couple of hours. Maybe I'll pick it back up this weekend. Also I use an XBox controller because of dexterity issues. Maybe I was playing too early of a beta version but I couldn't find a way to rebind the controls on my controller. The goat flip button doesn't seem to on the controller. To get the goat flip achievement I had to jump to the keyboard and which was not easy for me. I really do look forward to new maps pack but right now I don;t see a way to load new maps in the UI. I'm worried I'm going to have to keep copy and pasting files every time I want to play a new world. Overall I like what I have but l do worry about the longevity of the game." - Ervin Kosch

tekrat on Pentagon: We need war funding after the wars are over - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"Isn't just common sense? They have to: * Do the rebuilding, * **Maintain bases because there will be rebel factions on the loosing side that willl try a guerrilla war afterwards** * Fix broken equipment * Pay for the health expenses of the injured soldiers I'm kinda missing the point on this one. Over time the funding will have to ramp down but there has to be a plan in place." - Ervin Kosch

"I agree with many of your points and I would like to respectively counter on some of your point: 1. Nostalgia goes a long way. Plus I didn't think of making it exclusively use the emulator. Maybe have a boot menu and you could set the default OS to boot to. So you have a complete machine with a $45 dollar core that could be easily replaced if you brick it. 2. I concur that cells are definitely hurting the walkie talkie/portable radio market. I was thinking something like Zigbee tech because you could if you get enough of them in an area you have a nearly unlimited range. Also Zigbee would off digital communication and be just below the FCC's licencing regulations. I do believe your the FRS ranges are exaggerated. When I've tested high quality FRS radio on slightly rolling fields and I usually only get about 1-2 miles max. Plus I would rather issue a $40 walkie talkie then a $300 cell that can make international toll calls. 3. I know that but that's offered through any online retailer...." - Ervin Kosch

tekrat on Radio Shack closing up to 1,100 stores | CNN - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"Here's my ideas Radio Shack: * Get someone like TI to build a TRS/Color Computer clone - Make a limited number of them and have something like a BeagleBone inside them and a TRS emulator on start up. That way it still a great hobby computer and plays off the nostagia kick * How about a digital update to the CB/Walkie Talkies? Maybe use Zigbee and create a mess network. Remember you are 'Radio Shack' * Guarantee next business day free deliver to a store on your parts. That way you beat your competition on shipping and you don't have to keep so much inventory in stock that can easily get pocketed. * Kits kits kits - Electronic kits, Aurdino kits, BASIC Stamp kits, heck throw some life science kits while you're at it. Become the education store and ... * Have kid days - Home Depot does it. Appeal to the next generation. Show off those kits and show what you can do. Rotate the demo toys between stores so you don't have to open all of the kits in the same day. * Drop your freaking prices -..." - Ervin Kosch

tekrat on TIL Americans mostly eat white chicken meat and export the rest to Russia/Asia where dark meat is preferred, so most chickens get split in two and sent around the world. - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"I made a Weight Watcher's recipe for Chicken Cacciatore this past Saturday. It called for skin-on, bone-in chicken of any type. You just removed the skin before serving. So I cut up a whole chicken from Earth Fare. The dish was only 5 points a serving and delicious. My wife almost went back for seconds. We finished it off the next night. So yeah, the white meat revolution seems like a farce to me. You're sacrificing a few grams of fat for tons of healthy flavor." - Ervin Kosch

"Why was the warrant served at night? Was the father a violent offender that required a warrant be drawn? Where is the BB gun? If it was game where are the other people playing this BB gun game? If she thought it was a BB gun would that really require deadly force? When the kids asked the office to identify herself why didn't she? A lot doesn't add up. The BB gun story sounds a cover story from either the police department or the DA office to confuse/defuse the situation." - Ervin Kosch

tekrat on Nintendo Confirms Wii U Has Flopped, Slashes Sales Forecast By 70% - http://www.reddit.com/r...
"It's the GameCube all over again. I was reading an article the other days about developing for it at launch. If you didn't speak Japaneses you were boned. It had really bad (read slow) compilers and linker, poor debugging for 'console ready' firmware and the final spec were all released at last minute. The same article said the CPU was extremely under-powered but the GPU was actually awesome to program for. Nintendo seems to have a history under powered CPU's but highly powered GPU and sound with unique control schemes. Its just this time it bit them in butt. They also have a history between generation cycles hardware. I believe the next Nintendo console is going to have wait for the next console release cycle and add so heft to processor. That is if they don't drop console releases all together and just go hand-held/cross platform." - Ervin Kosch

"My recommendation mirrors what alot of other people have been saying. Since you're on a Microsoft platform why not use SQL Server and ASP.NET/C#? My reasons are a little more unique then most. If any project gets successful it will get bigger then you alone can maintain. You'll need help to grow and maintain it. RoR as a technology that is not widely used, at least not as much ASP.NET and PHP. Also because it's in lower demand there are fewer people who actually have the skill to help you. I have the same talent crunch with all our old ColdFusion based systems. Using Indeed.com I looked how many open position there are in my area: * ASP.NET: 145 * PHP: 61 * RoR: 14 On using VirtualBox: I've personally had hit and miss luck with it in a server environment. Also it sucks a lot of resources to operate. For you to at least prototype on it maybe a good fit. If you go this route I personally prefer Debian or Ubuntu Server edition. For me they're both easier to maintain and Debian has been..." - Ervin Kosch

"A lot of people are saying the Ouya is great or terrible. The answer is: both. The hardware is decent but your getting dated equipment. From a friends unit I say the store is getting better. Support is still not there, as is evidenced by this thread. I still hear about major updates every few weeks. I don't think they ever fixed the HDMI recording issue. I was going to become and early adopter but all the early reviews were so negative I thought I would wait. Now I'm holding off until after the holidays to see where the price is and check back here (/r/ouya) to see if the support issues have shaken out. If the price hasn't dropped enough I plan on getting a [Chinese Android TV](http://www.chinavasion.com/china...) box with more power and use my wired XBox controller." - Ervin Kosch
