"SALINA, KS—Local man Scott Gentries told reporters Wednesday that his deliberately limited grasp of Islamic history and culture was still more than sufficient to shape his views of the entire Muslim world. Gentries, 48, said he had absolutely no interest in exposing himself to further knowledge of Islamic civilization or putting his sweeping opinions into a broader context of any kind, and confirmed he was "perfectly happy" to make a handful of emotionally charged words the basis of his mistrust toward all members of the world's second-largest religion. "I learned all that really matters about the Muslim faith on 9/11," Gentries said in reference to the terrorist attacks on the United States undertaken by 19 of Islam's approximately 1.6 billion practitioners. "What more do I need to know to stigmatize Muslims everywhere as inherently violent radicals?""

"I almost gave in and listened to that guy defend Islam with words I didn't want to hear," Gentries said. "But then I remembered how much easier it is to live in a world of black-and-white in which I can assign the label of 'other' to someone and use him as a vessel for all my fears and insecurities." Added Gentries, "That really put things back into perspective."

The pope is like a prime minister for bishops: his first duty is to be the bishop of Rome, but the Roman bishopric is considered first among all the dioceses and has certain responsibilities, including ordaining other bishops and canonizing saints. He doesn't decide or change policy (the Magisterium of the Church, basically the authority of the Church as a whole, does that), but he's...

Being effectively the smartest guy in the room, what the pope says is considered infallible but only when he speaks ex cathedra (latin for "from the chair"): it has to be about a matter of doctrine, it cannot contradict the teachings of the Magisterium, it must be a clearly-defined statement, and he has to do it in his capacity as the head of the Church (he can't, say, infallibly...

how have I never heard of the Magesterium before?? How does he get the job?

The pope, or the Magisterium? The pope is done through a papal conclave, which is just an election amongst cardinals. The Magisterium isn't a person: it's the collective knowledge of the Church passed down from Jesus and interpreted over the last 2000 years. Basically, the pope can't contradict canon (unlike Brannon Braga with Enterprise. DAMN YOU BRAGA).

Buster got a new home for Christmas! He has gone to live with one of FriendFeed's own founder. Paul an April!! He took right to his new home. He is a lucky little kitty! #foxfosterkittens
Cats sleep a lot. Might not be the best match for Louis Gray.

Oh good, I might see him as he grows :-) I can't get over how adorable he is!

Aww, I had three kitties once, two brothers and a sister, named Angel, Devil, and Buster. Buster was a stumpy-tailed guy and not the sharpest crayon in the box, but so loving. Dang I miss those kitties.

Is this one of those, "I'm interested to see who actually reads my wall, so leave a one word comment about me and then post it to your wall so your friends can do the same thing for you" kind of things? Cause ... no.

James, Pablo is our 48th foster kitten. If I let myself keep all the kittens that I feel in love with I would have 50 cats instead of just my 2 current girls. I adore him, he is one of the top tier of all of them, but sadly I can't keep him. :(
- Rachel Lea Fox
This means someone Rachel knows should adopt Pablo so she can get updates. :)
- Bash
You are truly my inspiration on how I will live the latter portion of my life. I could step over to the side of owning 50 cats though.....
- Janet:#TeamMonique
How do we convince Paul to adopt Pablo, too?
- Corinne L
Yes, Paul and April should take Pablo, too. Brothers shouldn't be separated. ;)
- Jimminy IS Everybody
No, Buster is the star of Paul and April's 4 legged family!! Pablo is a good independent kitty and needs his own special family. I miss him so much!! I've been bawling half the day!!

I did consider adopting Pablo, too, but having two kittens would be beyond our capacity right now. We can only handle one furry quadruped at the moment.

I understand, April. It sure would have been fun to see pics of the pair growing up on FF. And hearing that Pablo was renamed GOB...or Michael... ;-D
- Corinne L
I'm just so pleased that April and Paul adopted Buster and I have another baby in a good loving home where I get photos and updates! I'm so happy to know so many loving people who have opened there doors and hearts to tons of my foster kittens!! I know Pablo will also find a good home. The initial separation is just very hard. :)
