I'm writing a book about electronic music. I also write copy, design web sites and teach music lessons.
Editing my sample chapter is the only thing that stands between me and a complete book proposal. So I'm attacking it with verve and brio! No, wait, what's the exact opposite of that?
My first attempt at programming a soundalike was hilariously bad. Simple pattern but I'll never get that depth of tone in a million years.
Readying release of our version of Dancin On The Ceiling. Licensing the cover is no biggie but the Billie Jean drum loop is another story.

"This shit is crazy: the day I made this record, I was at my house in Long Island, and I found this old record that I was gonna throw away. It was a ten inch record from a Lutheran church, and it was pink with a black fish on it. And I was gonna throw it in the garbage, 'cuz it didn't look like it had anything hot on it. But somethin' told me "before you throw it away, put it on the turntable, see if you can find something on it." And I found that sample of "Nas Is Like", and I broke it into 3 parts, scratched it live to the drumbeat that I already had, with the little chirpin' birds and from there, "Nas Is Like" was born, man..." - Ethan Hein
@ratherfancy DJ Premiere, what a musician. Wouldn't have occurred to me to use that record in a million years, and it seems so obvious now.
