Some fascinating discussion going on there. Thanks for sharing
- Lisa
Your welcome, Buff, Lisa. I was wondering how interested others would be. I think that the content is ok, but really the main reason I did it was to help the 30DC community spirit.
- Tim Brennan
You and Maria have done a nice job there Tim - thank you.
- Isha (Marysia)
We were there nearly 3 and a half hours. Then Enzo & I stopped off at Liverpool Street Station and gassed further for another hour or so. A very enjoyable meet-up and I look forward to many more.
- Isha (Marysia)
Here's some more info about this video - "5 of us had a meetup at the good old British Museum in London's West End. We chatted for 3 hours about all sorts related to the Thirty Day Challenge. The experience interesting and encouraging. Towards the end of the meetup, we decided to stage a bit of chat for the camera. I shot about 17 minutes which I've spit into 2 parts. As you can see the...

Despite the video camera being very close to the action, the audio it picked up was not good at all. It picked up loads of background hubbub which drowned out the conversation. The iRiver audio quality was twice as good. "
- Tim Brennan
In case anyone's wondering where the 5th person is, Maria's holding the camera & a great job she's done too.
- Isha (Marysia)
Nice video Tim. Looking forward to the next meet up.
- Enzo Vullo
I never knew there was a meet up in London. Would like to join you for the next one. Where do you post the info? I don't check FF much but will keep an eye out now.
- MayC
Yesterday I earned $160!!, which to some is not that big, but to me its huge!;), it just goes to show that if you keep trying, keep learning, then it can happen just like it did for me!, so a big huge thanks to all at 30DC!!.
I am guessing you have put in a lot of effort to get that far.... I would imagine hundreds of posts, and tens of pages, and articles. Not easy, but very worth it! Well done
- Tim Brennan
Nice work Elliot! Make sure you frame that first $100 note and put it up in your "office". Will inspire you all the way to your first million :-)
- Ritesh Lal
Awesome job, I'm on Day 30 and (sadly) sitting at a big zero. But, I'm not deterred, only more motivated to try harder! =)
- David Rogers
Yep, could be of course, or could be a leaked photo - anyone in the know care to comment?
- Mark McGimpsey
I cannot see any possibility of a keyboard being included in an iphone. Totally blows out the design and the touch aspect, that is the hallmark of the phone. Agree with fake. If I was going to speculate on next g iphone design I would say the camera will be moving to the front to facilitate better usability for video calls.

YouTube - David Allen: Getting Things Done. In the SWBN interview, Ed said that the "Getting Things Done" book is the secret to how he manages to get so much done. Thought this might be of use to people. - http://www.youtube.com/watch...
Part 2 of our interview with Ed Dale is now available on iTunes or at the blog. Ed really gives loads of great info in this part (he does throughout but this part will have you rewinding to hear it again) - http://www.swbnetwork.com/blog...
I remember having that same dread of the phone or a knock at the door. The letterbox became an enemy. It was doubly pissy because it wasn't my doing that caused the issue.
- Allison
I didn't think it was possible, but this mini series is even better than Internet Marketing This Week. Thank you
- Tim Brennan
Wow, praise indeed! Let's hope all our interviews after this can live up the Ed's
- Lisa
I really enjoyed listening to this podcast from the SWBN an excellent interview and interviewee, in fact I would say that I have enjoyed listening to all of the podcasts from the SWBN team all have been both educational and fun - my belly thanks you as well ~ Cheers G
- Groobers
Wow. I didn't know that Audible gives free downloads... I've had the book for quite some time already. It's truly a great and insightful read. I recommend it for everyone :) Thanks for sharing Tim! I can download a 'hands-free' version to listen to... I've wanted to recommend it to my friends for a long time, but it wasn't readily available at the local bookstore. Now I can... :)
- Art Y.
If I were to compare it to the book Outliers, I would say that Outliers showed how much our circumstances can affect us. But the 7 Habits show that how we react to our circumstances is far more important than any circumstance itself... We are only as successful as we choose to be... Which I have always known to be true...
- Art Y.
I've had the fortune of reading it and hearing it a few times, it is truly groundbreaking. If you haven't read/heard it yet, go get NOW! You will not regret it :)
- Jorge Blanco
I tried to download it but they say they can't do it for Australia
- Pam
That's too bad... Maybe you could try using a proxy?
- Art Y.
it would not let me do it in the U.K
- adrian brown
Try creating a audible account, leave address blank except put your country as USA. Should work then

How To Create Money (Part 1) - Frank Kern is one of my favourite internet marketers, and his latest video is very interesting indeed - http://www.masscontrolsite.com/desire...
When Frank explained the three reasons why people don't buy something, I wondered to myself which one of them has stopped me from buying Mass Control up till now. I thought it was because I don't have the money, but apparently that means I don't want it enough....
- Tim Brennan
from Bookmarklet
As a tech-nerd, I couldn't help but notice a few things that Frank could do to improve the quality of the video (which is already pretty high). Notice the jagged edges to objects when they move - that's because it was shot in "interlaced" mode. You can fix that by "de-interlacing" but for sharpness it is better to shoot in "progressive" mode.
- Tim Brennan
The audio quality was fine for most of the time, but in parts there is pretty bad interference. Sounds like there was a technical problem with the radio mics, which in general are normally pretty reliable and are used in TV and film all the time.
- Tim Brennan
Frank normally takes these videos down after about a week, so you might want to make use of screenflow it you have it....
- Tim Brennan
Yep Tim, if you want something badly enough you will do anything to get it. Desire is what makes the seemingly impossible, possible...and that is what you want your best customers to be like (which is what Frank is talking about). Easier to sell to people that not only want the product, they HAVE to have it
- Allison
Oooh.... Thanks for the video shooting tips Tim :) Umm... just my two cents, but I think there might be another reason people don't buy. Which is, even though they want it very very bad, yet they are still responsible enough to consider their financial situation and know that they don't really need it even though they want it so so bad, so they just ignore their desire. In other words, some people don't act on their desire, but on their logic and responsibility...
- Art Y.
I think that I fit in to that logic and responsible category perfectly. Then again, when I saw all those surf boards of Frank's, it reminded me when I was a broke student I went out and bought an expensive skateboard which I loved. I think everyone has that side to them which loves to buy awesome stuff.
- Tim Brennan
Today is a day of celebration. I made, not my first dollar online, but my first dollar through sales with the 30DC methodology. This (whooping) 30 bucks commission came just when faith and energy were starting to falter. As always, I tip my virtual hat for Ed and the 30DC team. Thank you all!
Reminder: the UK's Inland Revenue deadline for filing tax returns is January 31. The postal deadline has long gone and any tax returns not yet filed must be filed online by Jan 31.
Yes - system changed in 2008. Ouch indeed. But at least it puts an end to the IR pretending they've not received posted returns for those of us who leave things till the last minute :)
- Isha (Marysia)
via @sethg in the Social Media FF room. I just tried it out, putting my keyword into the search, and got loads of great stuff back. Searches twitter, FF, Flickr, Blog Comments via BackType, Yahoo News, Blogs (RSS) via FF, and Google Reader via FF, all in one go. *And* it has a RSS feed!
- Isha (Marysia)
*And* I've just discovered that it updates automatically. That means we can open up a new Flock, and resize it to the size of say the FF mini-window, & be on the spot as the stuff comes in.
- Isha (Marysia)
Marysia, thanks so much for this! Have just tried it and it brings up lots of great stuff!
- Jen
Hi, my name is Dave Pancost. I just started the 30DC. I live in Washington State and have a background in computer programming. I'm looking forward to participating here as I learn and discover how to be a successful internet entrepreneur. :-)
Thanks, Art, Kathleen. and TrafficBug. I appreciate the welcome.
- Dave Pancost
THanks I appreciate the introduction.
- Frank Dobner
Hello David! My name is David too, so from one David to another glad you found 30dc. I did it this year for the first time and it sure helped me put the pieces of the puzzle together. And yes it is a Challenge so don't give up. you will be glad you hung in there.
- David
Glad you started on 30 DC you will learn many new stuff
- TrafficBug
Welcome to the 30DC. You'll have fun for sure!
- Michael Wilson
Frank, David TrafficBug, Michael, and Mitja, thanks for the welcome. You all know how to make a guy feel wanted. :-) David, I'll definitely "hang in there", as my goal is to build a business that will carry me full time, and I won't stop until I get there. Thanks for the encouragement.
- Dave Pancost
Find other 30DCers in your area with the Thirty Day Challenge Map. Click this link and then 1. login to google. 2. enter your address in the search box and click 'search maps' 3. click the 'save to my maps' link in the marker callout 4. edit the text with your name - http://maps.google.com/maps...
Scary, ain't it? I put in my address -- and it showed me a picture of my house! Yikes! I didn't know they were travelling little side streets -- slightly scary! 8-}
- LJF Wolffe
Your *house*! I want a picture of my house too! Oh, I love your house - it is so cute!
- Isha (Marysia)
You might like to take your full address out of there LJF, and just leave the zip-code. It looks like it's viewable to anyone.
- Isha (Marysia)
Oops! I thought I did . . . now trying to edit the entry -- if it lets me . . . it oughta!
- LJF Wolffe
. . . but it won't. I can't edit the tag, and I can't delete it either, apparently. I've never gotten along well with GMaps . . . grrr . . .
- LJF Wolffe
I think your address has disappeared now. Do you want the photo to stay up there? I think I can delete it if you like.
- Isha (Marysia)
Nah, I left the house on purpose -- trust me, there are plenty like it in the area! I did figure out the edit -- HTML, pull the address but leave the geostats. Should be enough for privacy . . . Thanks for the pointer!
- LJF Wolffe
btw peeps' email addresses show up when we hover over their names in the Collaborate box
- Isha (Marysia)
Very cool! I will check back in a few days and expect to see Australia and the UK explode. This year there were very few US (at least midwestern US) participants to start with and precious few by the time it was officially over.
- liz
Just one problem - now that we've created entries on both sides of the pond we don't seem to be able to get our local maps back. We need to be able to look at separate maps for each area that 30dcers live in.
- Isha (Marysia)
You can zoom in and out to see the different areas. Click on the little buttons or use your mouse.
- Jen
Where are the little buttons? I've been clicking all over it with my mouse to no avail.
- Isha (Marysia)
Here you go Marysia, a Map with just london. Created by using the 'Link' feature at the top of the map (it stores the view in the url) http://maps.google.com/maps...
- Tim Brennan
That doesn't do it - it starts off with a map of London and then after a couple of seconds it changes back to a world view
- Isha (Marysia)
Ok, I found how to do it - drag the marker on the thermometer (on the left of the map) upwards a bit, then it zooms in a bit & you can then drag the map so that the area you want is in the center. Then you drag the marker up a bit more and so on, until you've got the resolution you want over the area you want.
- Isha (Marysia)
If Tim lives high up he can watch the 2012 Olympics without leaving home.
- Isha (Marysia)
Liz, you seem to live bang in the middle of the road at Elevator and Main :)
- Isha (Marysia)
This is wonderful! Great to see where everyone is, and so cool to see 30dcers all over the world. And no need to put your name in if you want to stay anonymous (just give another description or a vague address). Tim, you are a genius coming up with this idea and a good egg for following it through.
- Isha (Marysia)
Come on folks, over 2500 members in this room, and only 20 of us on the map? I know we can do better :-) Not sure who created this google map initiative, but great job!
- Ritesh Lal
Tim Brennan created it. I second that - great job.
- Isha (Marysia)
Fun idea, I added mine, looks like I am all alone in Utah. Be great to link up with someone nearby. Good idea Tim!
- Tim Barrie
And I'm all alone in Germany :-( Time for me to get back to London I think!
- Jen
It came out of Tim & I discovering that we live just a mile from each other. We thought it would be great if people had a way of finding other 30dcers who live near them, and Tim came up with this way of doing it and set up the map.
- Isha (Marysia)
Marysia, are you guys planning another London meetup by any chance? Spend so much time there, would love to join if there's another one.
- Jen
Jenny I posted in this room about it 8 hours ago ;-)
- Isha (Marysia)
Oups - I'm obviously too dumb to do a search properly. Blame it on the lack of sleep. Thanks Marysia!
- Jen
Thus the reason for # tags but it looks like that fell through the cracks, so there ya go
- Ron"micronet"Harwood
Wow I am surprised I am the only one in florida
- Mark South
Well still only 30 ppl there yet Mark - we need to get the word out there so that the other 30dcers come flyin in to make their mark.
- Isha (Marysia)
I've changed the map's title to "30 Day Challenge map". For some reason it previously appeared as the name of a 30 day challenger. Fingers crossed the correct name will stick.
- Isha (Marysia)
I like it.. I agree with Marysia though... not many folks here yet, nobody near either of my locations.
- Susan
Can each person who adds their name and location please ensure that the name of the map is changed back to "30 Day Challenge map" or something similar. Otherwise the map changes its name to your name. I've just had to change the name again.
- Isha (Marysia)
For peeps in SE England or near the West Midlands: if you're interested in meeting up please visit the meetups threads in the 30dc forum. There's a London meetup thread and a W Midlands meetup thread. And please join the 30DC for the UK FF room :) Thanks. - http://www.thirtydaychallenge.com/forums...
Click on "Friends" at the top of the page, and then on the "Find + Invite" tab. There'll be a link to "Import your Twitter Friends." Have fun! 8-)
- LJF Wolffe
Hey Challengers, Send well wishes to fellow 30DC'er @michelletrent, friday she fell and broke a wrist had to have surgery so a little love from the gang helps the medicine go down.
Eureka! My market really did tell me what product they want and yes, its not what I planned to do before all the market research but even better there isn't a comparable product available! World DOMINATION is mine! (Well at least in this microniche)
Goodonya Chris! I think your blog's just great - I recommended it to a beginner quilting friend some time ago and she immediately bookmarked it.
- Isha (Marysia)
Congratulations. You're lucky because the toolbar PR recently updated, that's why you got your new PR's.
- Umit Namli
thank you Marysia for recommending my blog. =)
- Chris Dahl
Umit, Namli, what do you mean lucky? It was a lot of hard work getting the word out on the blog & working my keywords. How would updating the toolbar PR affect me and my ranking? Confused.
- Chris Dahl
Yeh Umit thought that was a weird thing to say
- Isha (Marysia)
What he means is Google updates their information on ranking ever so often. You might have had the ranking all along but didn't show up until now because of Google's update. That's all.
- Karen
Thanks for explaining that Karen. Now all I need to do is get my blog readers to become customers. Although the blog is related, and has a lot to offer, it is not totally geared to sells. I only have links and occasional articles that refer to my website and classes that I sell. Any suggestions??
- Chris Dahl
Thanks for the explanation Karen. That was what I mean when I said you were lucky, guess I've said it the wrong way.
- Umit Namli
I think in the last one they mentioned being back on board today? January 5...
- Margaret Campbell
just subscribe to the podcast. also, the executive tribe (dale, colligan, macphearson and terry) won't fail to inform the downline (via twitter, FF or email) when an update is available.
- Gregg
I've seen it done Art. Not within 30dc but from a friend whom I met - he was on my last year's 30 dc challenge link love team. It is not impossible with valiant effort and some luck. I would suggest you look into 30DC plus at some point, even immediate edge - or perhaps John Reese system as well. They cost money but are more geared to people who want to earn a decent living online, and...
- Peter Gibson
Ok :) Thanks, Peter. If it can be done, then I will try my best to do it! Once I start earning enough money, I'm planning to join the Immediate Edge too. Sometimes we put off things too long thinking that we can always do it the next time around. But somehow I feel that the future is so unexpected. How do we even know there is a next time? If I'm going to do it, I have to do it this year. If not, I may never be able to do it again... If I fail to do it, I will only keep failing.. So have to try my best!
- Art Y.
Errr... not to boast or anything... But just that sharing a goal with other people always helps to inspire me a lot to get it done.
- Art Y.
I agree with you ... sharing a goal is a very important step ... its for that reason ... see this room and it might help you achieve your goal www.friendfeed.com/rooms/goal-setting
- micmol
Cool, $10k is my goal too. I was up to $4k profit this summer, but then I spent all my capital on a trip to Disney World with the family. I'm trying to work back up, but it's been slow.
- Gus
Thanks micmol. I've joined the room. Wow Gus! That's great! I haven't earned anything so far yet, but I hope to soon :) Do you earn from selling affiliate products? Or do you use Adsense too?
- Art Y.
you will do it as long as you believe it...so believe and go for it
- JayP
Art. You should be asking yourself "Can I do it?" In my opinion Art, if what you're doing is really in your heart then the answer is "YES", so go with that and make it happen any way that you can (legally of course). Most important ENJOY IT first and foremost or the answer will likely be "No".
- Rob Cooke
Ok. Thanks everyone! I will do it then! Try my best...
- Art Y.
Note to self, should get affiliate link for this, as at NY party sold 4 to geek heads and 2 to grad school professors at brothers party - resolve to monetize esp if you chirp a lot about a lot of stuff & things.
- JuneM
Tip: IF you are going to make a comment on someones blog to get a back link. Make an effort write enough content to your comment to add value to their blog.... Don't try to take someones link juice with a one-liner (not really a tip more a reiteration of what we should have learned on day 9 of 30DC)
That's a fantastic presentation medium. Can't wait to try this format out. Cool!
- Doug Hudiburg
Wow. That is really cool... How far is the audio recording range of the livescribe pen? Can I use it to record a conference message while taking down notes?
- Art Y.
