çok güzel bir kitap gördüm geçenlerde - Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York. New York’s storefronts constitute the city’s vernacular architecture, shaping the look and feel of the five boroughs no less than more celebrated elements of the skyline. These unfussy, elegant, and richly colored photographs of butcher shops, bakeries, fabric wholesalers, cuchifritos stands,... more... - tumel

Web Series Tied to ‘Blade Runner’ Is In the Works - Bits Blog - NYTimes.com
"“We don’t take any of the canon or copyrighted assets from the movie,” said David Bausola, founding partner of Ag8, who said he hoped the series would debut later this summer and that the first episodes would depict events about two years into the future. “It’s actually based on the same themes as ‘Blade Runner.’ It’s the search for what it means to be human and understanding the notion of empathy. We are inspired by ‘Blade Runner.’”" - zeroinfluencer from Bookmarklet
It's been done: Total Recall 2070. And yes, despite the name it obviously owed quite a bit more to Blade Runner. - Michael R. Bernstein
This should be great, the theme is a good one. - jcunwired

Hey Greg - Now I can get you in on the whole thing. Really love to get you into the deeper aspects of Purefold. Your texts have been deeply inspirational to our work. Thank you. - zeroinfluencer

@Michael you do realize that Total Recall is by the same author of Blade Runner? :p - Rudolf Olah
@omouse There are more PKD/Purefold connections to be announced... - zeroinfluencer
This should be interesting. I'm in general NOT a fan of Hollywood tromping on stories, yet I actually like Blade Runner more than the novel "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep". (Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies, period.) That being said, anyone who knows both knows that the movie is quite loosely based on the novel. And I AM a fan of fanfic/shared worlds/etc. So I'm cautious it in one sense, yet look VERY forward to it in another. "Inspired by" I like a lot better than "Reboot/re-imagined". - Ken Kennedy
@David they better be drug-fueled, otherwise it isn't "authentic" PKD ;-P - Rudolf Olah

TIS, Is empathy a gift? - zeroinfluencer
Empathy was a litmus, e.g. VK test. If possible for artificial life and ungranted, then it might illustrate purposeful stereotype and dehumanization. Ironically, replicants had feelings for eachother. Rachael seemed almost genuine to Deckard. Don't know if immortality cancels empathy, "but then again"... (Also see google memory http://bit.ly/F3D7k.) Thanks. - Test Information Space
Speaking of Total Recall, here comes a remake: http://ff.im/3WpUM - Kol Tregaskes
i guess there have been so many dystopian films and books and other entertainment products ('material culture', if products offends you) put out there that dystopian imagery is being used as a marketing & advertising theme with rsa/ag8/purefold? i was just reading a piece about 'the religion of star wars', thinking about the resurgence of interest in 'blade runner'... so, now we're going to be blasted with this kind of dystopia-promotional campaigning for a while? not sure how i feel about that yet. - docrivs
docrivs, there's a storyspace between dystopia (science fiction) and utopia (the norm for brand messaging) that interest us. BR is special because it set a vision that many have 'revisited' since. If anything, the aesthetics of relevancy infomed by participation, will yield a blend of these 2 extremes emotionally. - zeroinfluencer
I'm all for mining the dystopian chic of Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner," but all you're planning for are a few 5+ minutes long "web episodes" built around that, with no participation of any "canon or copyrighted assets from the movie.” So I have to wonder… BR became instant classic much due to the fact that it presented a complex and non-cliché-y vision of what the future may look like.... more... - ianf ⌘
good luck, David! - chad calease
Hey Ian, the short films will be working with each other, a network of tales, interconnected. Equally, the roll out of participation opportunities are about the near future, with that vision of BR in mind. BR wasn't an instant classic - it took 10 years to find the fans and longer to reveal the films secret. Don't see Purefold as just films, the transmedianess (across all media platforms) will bring more experiential storytelling. - zeroinfluencer
You don't have to justify anything to me, David, or assure me of your good intentions. My lack of enthusiasm for this is largely due to the very method you are proposing, future-viewer participation at plot/storyline level. BR was a product of a few brilliant minds, at least one of whom was more than borderline psychotic. But still but few minds' vision of the immaterial, thus... more... - ianf ⌘
Ian, that's the fundamental problem with 99% of production methodology today, for both product and film - is the presumption of guessing what YOU want from useful entertainment. The level of engagement has been designed from Platform metadata techniques (Poke, Like, digg) through to talent specific collaborations (write, scout, act). Further, the emphasis is on open innovation - the... more... - zeroinfluencer
I do not specifically want to introduce suspicions of sarcasm into this exchange, so I won't wish you good luck. Perhaps you'll strike that sole seam of gold you're after while sifting the mud through the sieve of drama potential, perhaps not. Rest assured, I'll watch the end result, at least the first five minutes of the initial episode ;-)) - ianf ⌘
IMHO the novel was better than the film in the story sense, Nonetheless, as a film, the lighting, the sound, the overall *feeling* was well done in a way CGI is still working towards. For that, it has my deepest respect. The empathy thing - what better theme is there? As for "Hollywood tromping on" stuff, we can run but we can't hide. My choice is to be a fan of the things I like and to... more... - chad calease
Ian, Chad, Cheers! - zeroinfluencer
david: thanks for your comments and replies. i see what you mean about the middle-space you described btwn utopia and dystopia. i do agree somewhat that some artistic visions have been realized because of being tied to somewhat of a singularity of mind, but i don't think it has to be the case. i loved blade runner the first time i saw it, and that was around the time it was released on vhs for the first time (er, maybe even before, come to think of it...). - docrivs
i say dystopia, bc br focused most on the underside of the world it portrayed -- the dirty dealings that keep it all together -- the replicant-hunting, for instance. it shows the dark sides of a future world. the dark side of life is not something i obsess on, nor is it the only interest of mine, but i am attracted to it... that's why the theme is marketable, maybe? anyway, it's great to be in dialogue with all of you. interactivity is my favorite part of the internet. - docrivs

Upon closer inspection, however, an uneasy sensation of looming menace begins to manifest itself. Composed of a wiry, nervous line, these creatures bear a resemblance to birds only in their beaks and feathered silhouettes; they appear closer to deformations of nature. The hand crank conjures up the idea that this "machine" is a music box, where the birds function as bait to lure victims... more... - zeroinfluencer
