In a passage of prose (ie. not acronyms, initials, etc.)? Only ironically.
- Michael R. Bernstein
I use all caps when I want to emphasize a certain word like when I say I LOVE Jeremiah's work it stands out. But I almost never use it for more than three words together. Why? WELL LET'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU USE ALL CAPS. The human eye actually reads by looking at the shape of the words, and because the shape is all messed up in all caps it's very hard to read. It also looks like it's "yelling."
- Robert Scoble
If you want to be taken seriously, never. A word here or there capitalized once in a great while is OK, but it's just too easy to go overboard. Irony is OK, too; everybody likes irony.
- i80and
NEVER!!! except when shouting: "DAMN YOU STEVEN PEREZ!"
- Laura Norvig
Radio copy used to be all caps double spaced because that was supposed to be easy to read. Is that still true? Has paper copy been completely replaced by prompters? I haven't been involved in radio in a long time.
- Robert Hafer
When I'm DRUNK. But lots of things seem like good ideas then that probably aren't. Or when I want to emphasize something or actually am shouting or am just being silly. Never anytime I'm trying to be serious or professional.

You need to create a group (public or private). Click on Groups, then "Create a group." Once the new group exists, you can click the Add/Edit button below the group's name to add services, including RSS feeds from any source you like.
- Will King
interesting. I decided to give FF a 2nd try (I signed up for it when it first came out) not because of the celebrity flood to twitter but I wanted a place for *discussion* that wasn't limited to 140 characters.
- Violet Mae Lim
I still rarely use FF compared to Twitter as I'm often using Twitter from a device. That said, I love how my digital life aggregates into a single place, along with everyone else. The key will be search. Tracking "popular" on search topics on FF should be very interesting.
- Geoff Wilson
it's all about the meta data. Twitter will never be as valuable as FriendFeed for that very reason.
- Steffan Antonas
The "cool kids" might be moving, but I doubt that the cool kids can make FriendFeed a success (that is, compared to Twitter. a network as diverse as Twitter). Twitter was the first in its kind. Many people consider it "good enough".
- Meryn Stol
Because you aren't cool anymore and the REALLY cool kids (re celebrities) are on Twitter.
- Laurent Courtines
Agree. FriendFeed is significantly more useful for sharing real information. No comparison.
- Hamilton Wallace
Twitter on Oprah was the best thing for FriendFeed. An eureka moment as she jumped into the Twitter stream...
- zeroinfluencer
I've been on FriendFeed since March 2008 and I love it!!! :)
- Susan Beebe
Twitter and FriendFeed are not the same. Although the cool kids are already here ;)
- Nicholas James
The REALLY cool kids have identi.ca accounts and use it to talk about coding rather than congratulating each other over their new media gasbaggery. Just sayin'.
- Tom Morris
friendfeed has way better noise reduction filters than twitter atm
- Phil Smirnov
I dont know about cool kids, or I dont care if I am one, but I just did it!
- Lakshman Prasad
Steve must be prescient - I think it was last summer when he kept saying FriendFeed was actually more useful than Twitter, which is why I have both!
- Joan Vinall-Cox
michelle, of course you are. you have a pug. :)
- Karoli
It always comes down to Pugs, doesn't it. Good thing we know the truth.
- michelle lamar
It's basically impossible to converse with any manner of context on Twitter. It's maybe a one- or two-blurt attention span. Perfect for those with ADD. I like FF much better.
- Rick Cogley
And, I have a Golden Retriever, so I have no need for a pug. (they're cute, though!)
- Rick Cogley
Excellent! Now don't forget the Twitterer who is just so important! Or, the Twitterer whose tweets are to and from his/hers co-workers about things that you just do not care about or get.
- Elizabeth
This is funny! Twitter is what you make it. Yes you are limited to 140 characters, however you can include links to what ever subject you are into. Twitter is a great business tool for any business.

Excellent article. You can not only see the downward spiral in companies, you can FEEL it! Retail is taking the downward spiral further and deeper. Retailers want to Boo Hoo that no one is buying now, so why try. I have news for retailers, people are buying. If you think people are not buying, just tune into HSN (Home Shopping Network) some time, that is just one, off the top of my head example. This should serve as a wake up call to companies. If companies do not pump up the employees and their customer service, someone else will.

Great article and one of the best descriptions of Twitter and the uses: From Article:But if you think of Twitter for what it is — a big room full of people having conversations about a variety of topics that you can participate in or monitor if you like — you can start to see some benefit from it. More importantly for journalists, Twitter is conversations happening here and now. As my friend Albert Maruggi pointed out at a Social Media Breakfast last year, Twitter is the police scanner of the 21st century. I would argue that it’s better because it’s not limited to emergency personnel. Twitter is anyone, anywhere in the right now. If something just happened that is newsworthy, someone is probably reporting it on Twitter. It’s foolish not to monitor it.

Avi, I know I am in the minority here, but in GR when I click See Original on an article it takes me to a page that is adapted for phone, I then have to click view in HTML. Anyway to be able to choose?
