I don't feel a need for the phone part, just the super-cool touch-screen music player part. Plus, everyone else and their puppy was getting a 3G last week, and I kind of got burnt out on it. ;) - faithx5

"Hi, Carolyn!
I'm glad you enjoyed the music. I got the idea to include music at the last second; it's such a big part of my driving experience. And yeah, definitely different than Missouri!" - faithx5
"They tape on Mondays, then it airs on Wednesdays. The results show on Thursday is done live, I think. It's good they don't do the competition show live; they had to keep stopping and restarting to get stuff right! Although not as much as they might've, honestly. The host and judges are really great at it.
And don't worry about having missed it; you couldn't see me and my friend in the audience anyway. But the dancing was great!" - faithx5
"Yeah, you could see great. Not their faces as much as on TV, obviously, but they were piping the camera feed to the big screen above the stage, which helped (and then I watched it again last night, of course). And yes, Cat is the bestest ever. I'll write a longer post about what it was like to be at the taping later. Right now I'm still forced into using the library's internet, and they close in a little while." - faithx5
"Well, I don't really. Most of the time I had it on a mix - which is when the Sheryl Crow song popped up and I was like hey, this is a good driving song. I'm not actually sure the song "California" came on at all (or I think it did, but not right when I got to the state), but it was appropriate. So the music choices are representative of what I was listening to, but their placement along the drive is somewhat edited. More so later because I started just putting on mixes instead of consciously choosing what to listen to." - faithx5
"I did, but I haven't posted about it yet. I'm still in internet access limbo - the people I'm staying with have internet, but I can't connect my computer to it. Bah. Anyway, re: Kwaidan. I'll need a rewatch, since it didn't immediately turn me onto Japanese cinema, or even itself, on first viewing. In its defense, however, I watched it while under packing and moving stress, so I'm not faulting it for my inability to love it. Of the stories, the one with the blind monk was my favorite, I think." - faithx5
"I've known professors to use blogs and wikis for academic purposes, but more as tools to build classroom community rather than plugging into the wider social network community. A few, however, do go farther into using Twitter, etc. I wouldn't be so quick to write off the use of social media in academics. Certainly I think it'll become more prevalent in academia as more and more newly degreed and tenured professors are those who have grown up using Facebook, blogging, etc." - faithx5
"Yeah, I hadn't seen all the films either, and didn't recognize the clips from several of the ones I had seen! Even so. I keep wanting to do something like this myself, but I always get overwhelmed by the time it would take." - faithx5
This applies more to sitcoms, but I had to admit I couldn't think of a single actual good dad in recent sitcoms. Coach Taylor on Friday Night Lights comes to mind in dramas, though. - faithx5
