I've had this on my DVR since November (https://friendfeed.com/faithx5...), and finally got around to watching it for the first time. Quite good, especially for a 1927 silent film. Amazingly few dialog cards, but Janet Gaynor's expressions speak volumes. And during a part in the middle, the accompanying music was the same piece used in Hitchcock's TV series, which I believe is "Funeral March of a Marionette" by Gounod.

I found the visual style incredibly beautiful, and yes, Gaynor could say it all with her eyes. When I saw it, it had a live band doing an original accompaniment; I haven't seen any of the prints with music attached, but I believe you. :)

This is one of the most beautiful films ever, I think.
