Equilibrium had a much better story and was better acted...I'll take it.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
I actually didn't like Equilibrium very much - it was a much less engaging Matrix knock-off. But I can't defend Ultraviolet on story or acting either. So I'm back down to it - Milla vs. Christian. That's the only criterion here. :)
- Jandy
Equilibrium seemed more like a retelling of Fahrenheit 451 vs a knockoff of The Matrix, Jandy.
- Scoble, Alex Scoble
In story, yeah. In style, totally Matrixy. Except not as good.
- Jandy
Equilibrium actually works as a fairly dumb, thinks-it's-smarter-than-it-is action flick. Ultraviolet, even as an action movie, somehow has its action sequences arranged in most-to-least exciting order. The plot is way, way dumber than Equilibrium, and that's saying something. *So* disappointed. Strictly on stars alone, I couldn't say; neither really rose above the material or anything.

I think I was expecting Equilibrium to be really good, and you're right Andrew, it's not nearly as smart as it thinks it is. So I was really disappointed. I was expecting Ultraviolet to be a heap of crap, and only watched it for the eye candy, and it actually is quite pretty, on a shot-by-shot basis, so I guilty-pleasure enjoyed it.

Joe, you just reminded me of how my dream was to see Sean Pertwee cast as The Doctor, just for the awesome factor. (Also, despite my Milla love, I think Equilibrium gets my vote here.)

See, I was expecting Ultraviolet to kick more ass than Equilibrium. Same director, bigger budget, the fight idea that they never got to use in Equilibrium that he wouldn't talk about for the DVD commentary because he figured he could get it into his next movie... There was every reason to think Ultraviolet would amp everything up. Instead... huge disappointment when you went in thinking that.

I love Equilibrium, and the man saves a puppy - so, team Bale for this one. (To be fair, I liked the fighting better than the Matrix.)
- Jennifer Dittrich
I hafta say, that next to last screencap of Bale is pretty convincing. Andrew, yeah, definitely - I think expectations probably play into this matchup a lot.
- Jandy
FYI JUST FOUND THIS: http://twitter.com/MillaJo.... You are all fired for not alerting me to the fact that Milla is on Twitter. F-I-R-E-D. EDIT: lol, reading it is kind of like listening to the Ultraviolet commentary she did, which basically consists of her going "ooh, this part is cool" every few minutes, but she pronounces "cool" with two syllables, like "coo-ul."
- Jandy
I am very glad I stayed up another minute to poke fun at Joe. Followed.
- The Amber
Amber, poking fun at Joe is its own reward.
- Jandy
and thats exactly why I never told you about Milla on Twitter.
- Joe "Looptid" Pierce
They both feature "Gun Kata" - but Equilibrium did it first, and did it better.
- Nathan Chase
It's surprising, since they're both from the same writer/director...
- Nathan Chase
This is easy. Christian Bale is a man. Milla is a woman. That said, I would not pass up an opportunity to, um, know either one of them. ;-)
- Ladyepiphanybug
Mills would slice and dice Bale as he complained that someone was blocking his light
