I really liked this idea - especially one comment to use the plastic Gerber baby food containers for the Jello - we have tones of these lately...

My last 2 kids really love potatoes - more than ice cream. Both have been born since we moved to Idaho about 3.5 years ago. Coincidence that Idaho is the potato state... my older kids don't think so.
"Well, here we are. Women's voices are finally getting heard -- the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada has issued new breech guidelines that above all, advise that women need to be offered the choice of vaginal breech birth. What is the most important about these guidelines is not the nitty-gritty of candidate selection and techniques of delivery, but rather that they have tackled the ethical issue of forced surgery and come down firmly on the side of not obliging women to have surgery they neither want nor need." http://rixarixa.blogspot.com/2009...

I thought this was an interesting part of the post - as a man I understand; I think just offering my seat to a woman should be enough - I don't have to assume she is pregnant. From the post: "I just read an article about riders on the subway in Chicago, and whether they give up seats to pregnant women or not. Only half of bus and train users in Chicago give up their seats for a pregnant woman. Some commuters said that they don’t want to offer their seats to pregnant women just in case the woman in question isn’t actually pregnant."

I think this is the one art of dadliness that comes the most natural. How often are the mothers of our children saying they are not only raising the kids…but the dad also. It definitely describes me. I really like being a kid; kids have a lot of fun and there is a freedom and sincerity in their actions. I love this about my children and there is a part of me that never wants to fully give up my immaturity. To be a great dad I think this is one of the most important qualities you can have; to be a kid. So how is being a kid important to your dadliness? http://familynester.com/home...

When it comes to birthday parties, do we really need to spend a lot of money to make our kids happy? I don’t think so, in fact I think the best parties are the ones where you are creative and aware of what is truly fun for your kids; whether they know it or not. So here are some of my ideas - things we have done that the kids have loved - they are simple and fun: http://familynester.com/home...

Great ideas. I'm a fan of the inexpensive party myself. I grew up with small parties at home. My mom was always so creative with them, they were cheap, and were remembered by all the kids. I'm guessing I'll be doing the same. My daughter's 4th is coming up in August... the hard part is keeping it small without hurting feelings. But I'm feeling pretty insistent about that.
