The Avatar IMAX 3D screenings are sold out. Is it worth it to see in regular 3D or should we wait? Note that the IMAX we'd see it at isn't the giant screen anyway.
Drive to the Science Center. It's worth seeing in proper IMAX 3D.
- Akiva Moskovitz
I saw it on Real3D but still want to watch it on IMAX. Watch the IMAX 3D version so you don't go twice.
- Rodfather
I saw it in regular 3D and was blown away. I'm going to try for IMAX next week. I think regular #D is fine though
- Fancy Fembot
I preferred the regular screening to IMAX.
- Rob Haas
Saw it in RealD and I have a hard time believing it'd matter after the first 5-10 min when yer concious of the tech. But if you want a comparison, check out http://3dvision-blog.com/what-to...
- Ken Sheppardson
The Science Center IMAX gives Ben eye strain, so we don't usually go there for 3-hour movies. The IMAX we'd see is somewhere in-between that and the regular experience. Better quality, but not too large of a screen. Just the regular theatre renovated for IMAX. I've seen a few films that way and it's pretty great.
- joey
I saw the Real3D version on the local "ultrascreen" and it was terrific. We had to sit in the very back row and it was still great.
- Mark It's 2000-Oh-1-Oh J
When is the Ultimate Premium Enterprisey edition coming out? ;)
- Micah Wittman
MS product segmentation marketing has taken over the cinemas!! =)
- Micah Wittman
Don't you need to wait for the Super Dooper Deluxe Re-import holographic Directors Cut Second Edition? :)
- Ian May
Ian, I'm waiting for the yt spoof that comes after what you just described :D
- Micah Wittman
Spent the last 4 days staining the deck. Thank god the weather wasn't hot. I think next time I'll live less frugally and give someone else the honor of doing it.
yeah that one took all of a 1/2 second :)
- (jeff)isageek
Is there ANY way these two films are in the same category?
- Jared B. Luther
I agree, this is a no brainer... Two Towers FTW :)
- Danielle Closs
Ugh.. Jesus, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull sucked.. I walked out of that movie so disappointed.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Crystal Skull was the only Indy film where Indy could've skipped the entire thing and the plot would've concluded in exactly the same way.
- Jeremy Thompson
Two Towers, Indy was ruined by the over the top ending.
- Kol Tregaskes
Ep III was ok but I choose it over the matrix because I am a SW geek. I can watch it over and over because it stimulates me geek brain - even complaining about it or pondering how it could have been better is interesting. Matrix was a great flic but not too many extra neurons were stimulated. And on 2nd, 3rd or more viewings, M becomes more and more meh to me.
- Capn' One Eye - adrift
Matrix, easily. The first three star wars set a benchmark that the next three easily slipped under ...
- Paul W. Homer
Blinding speed Kung Fu vs colored light sabres. The Matrix is The One!
- Shane
Matrix. The sequels are bad enough to cause villagers to riot, but the original is near perfect. Empire vs. Matrix, well...in that case SW all the way.
- Jeremy Thompson
Wait, Jemm....are you counting the pod racing scene as part of Ep 1? Or are you just counting that scene as its own separate movie? If you count it as part of Ep 1, no way Ep 1 > Matrix.
- Jeremy Thompson
@jeremy: Of course. And Jar Jar Binks, too!
- Jemm
@Jemm: Hehe, I actually didn't mind either of those too much the first time through. Second time was rough -- stiff acting and a lot of exposition. Ep 1 > Matrix 2 unquestionably, tho.
- Jeremy Thompson
this is the flickchart battle that keeps going! :)
- (jeff)isageek
and it looks like The Matix is the clear winner among the friendfeeders :)
- (jeff)isageek
Only because you chose episode 3. That's not really a contest. If you'd said The Matrix versus Episode IV or V then Star Wars would likely have carried the day.
- Daniel J. Pritchett
Hey, thanks to KShep's URL trick I've been able to force rank my favorite movie to the top of my list by pitting it against my former #1!
- Daniel J. Pritchett
Not even remotely close. The Matrix.
- Chieze Okoye
No, but ASUS is with their 1008HA Eee PC. They claim a six hour run time, but I'm still a two-battery kind of guy.
- Kevin C. Tofel
And the T91 too!. For a mobile device, i'd definitely want a second battery possibility although i've been working with power packs a lot recently. A bit more universal and easy to charge.
- Steve 'Chippy' Paine
Thing is, I tend to keep equipment longer than most. Notebooks especially. I am on my third battery in my own notebook. I would rather replace a battery myself in whatever device than pay $100.00 for someone else to do it. As for phones, I go through about 2 and 1/3 per day, so...
- MVB (Curmudgeon of FF)
I agree with MVB - definitely would not buy. ASUS should have learned from Apple that this is a really silly idea.
- jcunwired
I wouldn't like it but I'd get by. Can always grab a Tekkeon external battery to charge/power it. Will the Asus T101 have a removable battery?
- Rodfather
Hasn't seem to have affected Apple sales much has it?
- ronin
I've had my HP mini for 3 months and haven't had a need to take out the battery. Now that I think about it, I wish I had another, these puppies drain pretty fast.
- Fancy Fembot
I have no problem with my iPhone or Macbook lacking a removable battery. The space saved allows for a larger battery & longer time between charges. I'd have a large built-in battery than a small removable one.
- Kevin D. White
Polar Bear thats all i know, the first season a damn polar bear came outta the jungle and it freaked me out so bad, didnt go back.
- Cody Heitschmidt
Oh, and don't forget the part where they realize they aren't on an island, just a remote section of beach in Panama City. Imagine their surprise when they go crashing through the foliage only to find spring breakers partying wearing too little clothes and too many beads... EDIT: I think that was the twist added by M. Night Shyamalan
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
Just for fun, let's imagine what it would be like if they did a new Star Trek movie for The Next Generation. Who would they cast in the roles? I know the original actors are still young compared to TOS, but this is just for kicks!
Robert Scoble as Neelix. Oh nevermind, that's Voyager.
- Rodfather
I stayed with the historical racial casting thus my picks are: Ben Kingsley as Pickard, Pierce Bronson as Riker,Lawrence Fishburne as Worf,William Hurt as Data, Cuba Gooding Jr as Geordi (on the edge with this one),Rene Russo as Dr Crusher, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Troi (Look them up, you will agree.)
- Travis
Ben Kingsly as Picard??? He actually might be older than Patrick Stewart, and he's short. I like William Hurt, he's a great actor, but I'd say he's a bit old for Data as well. And I don't know what you mean by historical racial casting.
- Matthew
Chris Rock for Laforge...................
- Kevin J Hatton
my kids like his books (if I am thinking of the right guy)
- RAPatton
That will be the end of the universe.
- Fancy Fembot
Yeah you're probably thinking of the right author, as it's a young adult book. Thanks @cecily for the other book recommendation.
- Lynne d Johnson
from fftogo
At this point Robert, I think everyone else would be fine if you airbrushed out the embarrassing bits and posted the photo regardless =)
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
come on Rob post it - Pete's going to be Demi's new man soon to replace Ashton
- Thomas Power
@Scoble Harumph, not going to be jealous, not going to be jealous & yes post it! But does Maryam know you're such a swinger :)
- sofarsoShawn
Dave Winer brought up an interesting point; Mashable may have a conflict of interest. They are featured on the twitter SUL, does this mean that they will write only positive things about twitter? http://www.scripting.com/stories...
- Steven (optionshiftk)
You can't post to friendfeed from his site, but can to Twitter & Facebook (where his fanpage is at 125,000ish fans). As well I've noticed more stories on Twitter in his RSS but that could be due just to its popularity. But that's beside the point: Rawr!
- sofarsoShawn
Whoa...read that and just...THUD...Melissa's right, who says shit like that? What does that even mean? Cheyenne, that was probably the most classless thing I've read in awhile. This isn't YouTube.
- Admiral Anika
Handsome in a way that makes me wonder "scientologist?" :D
- Jack (a.k.a. Jeber)
Thanks, Anika. That was the WORST comment I've read in a looong time. WRONG.
- Melissa
That's the kind of talk that makes you take out earrings and put on Vaseline. JUST SAYIN'.
- Derrick
Oh, I see. I think I blocked her a while ago. Clearly an asshat.
- Michelle Martinez
Derrick. Mm hmm... hold these *hands earrings*
- Melissa
WTF, Jack? Why do people make assumptions like that? *stands in line to kick Cheyenne's ass*
- Trish R
it seems you can't block someone that has a private feed - Cheyenne you are a fucking idiot
- BEX
I knew something was up in the FF's. I think I found the thread of issue.
- Mauricio
Mau, there's more going on elsewhere. If you're curious, hit me up and I'll pass the threads along. I'd sooner forget about them. Onward and upward.
- Derrick
"Next stop Hollywood" Nah, Hollywood is moving North eventually anyway.
- jjprojects
Stuff Hollywood. Internet famous is where it's at :D
- Mo Kargas
Trish, he's "Tom Cruise" cute. On my scale of cuteness often actors are used as degree markers. Tom Cruise cute is pretty high on my scale. As to my opinion of Scientology, I think they're loons. But sometimes cute loons.
- Jack (a.k.a. Jeber)
There's not famous and Internet famous, there's just famous.
- jjprojects
I mean, people thought they were web famous on Twitter, and then the famous people showed up, now they're web famous too?
- jjprojects
I am keeping a close eye on you, Cheyenne. Everyone else, carry on.
- Melissa
What the fuck is going on here? Cheyenne, seriously- what the fuck?
- Bec Rowe @d0tski
I mean, was that a brain fart, or are you really this much of an idiot?
- Bec Rowe @d0tski
I've seen him in person- looks very different, but similar, than his photos. I didn't recognize him right away, though. Anyways. Gayer than aids- lame.
- anna sauce
Wow.. "Gayer than AIDS" totally killed the wet panty parade.
- Outsanity
I have this sinking feeling that y'all got trolled. :(
- Karl Knechtel
Karl, that's unlikely given her history on FF.
- Rochelle
Real hot when he sucks in the cheeks(on his face)
- Monique
Cheyenne, that's not something to joke about. And my history? I'm confused. What about my history? Please elaborate.
- Rochelle
Cheyenne, were you dropped on your head repeatedly as a child? Did you mother drink gallons of gin while you were gestating? I mean, sure, you can string words together with at least enough skill so what you type can be deciphered by other people––and for you, I consider that no small feat and I applaud you for being able to maintain enough concentration to be able to do it––but I strongly recommend you start trying to, you know, actually consider what you're typing before you hit enter. Seriously.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Oh Hell No. Cheyenne is trying to pick a fight with Rochelle. There is no room on FF for ignorance & hate. Cheyenne kindly remove yourself from the internets.
- Zulema ◕ ◡ ◕
let's hear your jokes, Cheyenne. I'm curious to know what you consider humorous.
- Melissa
I'm not sure if a tie alone makes him an asshole. That's a personal choice - I've been known to wear a tie from time to time. The knot size in the first picture though...whew. OK bud. Maybe half the size of your chin next time, ok?
- Mike Nayyar
Nyo he's rocking a kind of Mick Jagger stylish fop look.
- anna sauce
OMG something's never change & you're totally ruining my chances with mashable!!!...Cheyenne :((((( chill & enjoy the man that is mashable, Rawr!!! ~ Scoble get me his # !!!
- sofarsoShawn
Wow. Not here too. What does it mean, gayer than AIDS? AIDS isn't gay. Unbelieveable. This requires a seperate thread. AIDS strike all not based on orientation but on being human and having bodily fluid contact with the disease. I get shocked often reading comments and today this is the first shocking one.
- Monique
Exactly, and I'm not not the easily offended type either. I'm going to make more Lolcats those cheer me up heheheheee
- sofarsoShawn
gayer than aids is one DUMB comment.... only dumb people make dumb comments... ;o)
- Rob Sellen :o)
Yup, got another one here: thx for being soooo intutive: see your 2nd last comment: you fit bill re: those who make dumb comments
- sofarsoShawn
Aint dumb... you said he was hot... but elsewhere you said you weren't hitting on him, just asking for someone else... why I am asking.. what is it.? You are or you aint.. simple question that come out confusion from what you posted... not dumb.
- Rob Sellen :o)
From BBC News: "As 2008 turns to 2009 at the end of this month, an extra second will be added to every clock. But who decides exactly what time it is? Professor Brian Cox meets the man in charge of all our timekeeping - the world's director of time."
- Mark Trapp
from Bookmarklet
The article refers to him as a time lord, and the companion TV special I'm watching on the Science Channel, "What Time is It?" seems to be self-congratulatory in referring to people like Dr. Cox as "time lords."
- Mark Trapp
So sorry/ My prayers are with you and your family
- Alan Simpson
We're thinking of you and your family. It's hard to just say anything that will help. I can hardly imagine how you feel. I hope we're helping some here.
- Kamilah Gill
Thank you all so very much. I'll never be able to properly express how much your comments mean to me so I won't even try. I'll just continue to occasionally strafe your threads with comments in all upper case. You guys are simply unbelievable. I am very, very grateful for FriendFeed right now.
- Akiva Moskovitz
they say that the worst thing to experience is outliving your own child. I'm sorry, but out living the people that gave you life and have been there your entire life isn't the easiest thing either. I hope you're coping. If you ever need it, there's a hug waiting for you in the UK.
- alphaxion
I've just seen this, Akiva. I'm so sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and all your family.
- WorldofHiglet
sorry to hear that Akiva...absolutely gutted by that news...my condolences
- Live4Emma (L4S)
Oh hun, I'm so so sorry to hear this news. My heart goes out to you, Rochelle, Audrey, and all of your family. :(
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
I'm sorry to hear that Akiva. I lost my mother the same way almost two years ago. My condolences go out to you, Rochelle, and your family.
- Mark Krynsky
Akiva - I am sorry your Mom passed away. Loosing a parent is really hard. My heart goes out to you and your entire family. The grieving process is unbelievable at times, it can really surprise you when you least expect it. **** HUUUUUGGGGG**** Glad she passed away while she was resting...that is a really sweet way to go.
- Susan Beebe
Just saw this, Akiva. All the best wishes, thoughts, and prayers for all of you.
- Laura B.
Condolences to you and all of your mother's family, friends, and other loved ones in your time of grief. I am very sorry for your loss.
- Michael R. Bernstein
Best wishes to you and your loved ones on getting through this time.
- Steve C
I'm sure seeing you grow, marry a beautiful woman, and getting to experience the cutest ever granddaughter makes for a happily accomplished life.
- Matthew DeVries
My condolences to you and your family.
- Russ Jackson
Honestly, there is nothing I could say other than you have my sympathy, and, if I was going to go I'd prefer to go in my sleep. I just hope her waking moments before it were as peaceful.
- InPerpetualMotion(Gina k)
