Discuss with designers about suggestions regarding how to improve the feedly user interface. We will try to pick the best suggestion and fund projects focused at flushing them out and implementing them.
I'm new, so my apologies if requested already (I didn't see in archives). Is there a way to change the default url shortener in feedly? Right now it's tinyurl.
If you look into preferences, I think that there might be a way to choose an alternative one. We are trying to understand which ones would be interesting to support. Could you please create a post on getsatisfaction/feedly with your suggestions? Thanks.
- Edwin Khodabakchian
I'll try that and go to getsatisfaction/feedly as well. I'm thinking about bit.ly
- Bryan R. Adams
Bryan: one question re: bit.ly. Is it OK if we just support a generic bitly account or do you want to be able to use your own bitly account?

"Can we get an amen? Google Notebook worked: it was simple, effective, web-friendly, and perfectly suited to a Getting Things Done system" [Agreed]

One more suggestion, Need a preference setting for language for the Explore Catagory or ( I know this is much harder) a tie in to a translator program. Two out of three suggestions were in Japanese? or Chinese? the other day and I don't do either (nor Danish, French, Spanish, etc.) Thanks 4 Listenin
I'm starting to like Feedly, but the learning curve has had some rough points. Some of the preferences need clarifying. What is Topic processing? (Is Topis a typo?) Also, What color is #444444 or #035842, etc. (please don't tell me,) just suggesting you add a color palate if color is to be an opt.
Hi Elisa. FYI: Lots of people complaining that with new changes to Google Reader, it is suddenly broken in Firefox 3 - I'm one of them. I'll be using Feedly until this is resolved. But I really wish it could share with comments! I could ditch using Reader altogether if it could!
Having just come back from some vacation to find a couple of thousand unread articles waiting for me, a Feedly "catch-up" option would be useful. Something that would allow me to mark everything read *except* for articles from sources marked as favourite, posted within the last day.
Feedly Designers -"recommend" is called "share" in some screens now - but we still have no option to "share with comments" that I'm seeing. Am I missing something? I had a brief discussion with Ed about this in early Sept., and he indicated that "share with comments" was coming within a week...???
Hi Tink. Despite our best efforts we have not been able to pull that feature request off yet. I will raise it at our friday team meeting and will see what can be done.

I think a great feature would be the ability to create your own RSS feed from your "Saved for Later" or "Recommended" categories for embedding into other sites. I blog using Feedly to find my sources, and it would be great to be able to post all the articles I've read to a widget in my blog.
I think something that would really help with navigation is a tweak to the text in the Sources sidebar. In addition to showing the number of unread items, for those with lots of feeds if the text could be a little bolder for the unread sources that would really help focus on what to read next.
I think the biggest improvement would be in having access to this page and the support forums available from every page. It's a bit of a hassle to type in feedly.com just to access ways to find help with the site.
Hi - following up on my "Feedly is annoying" message earlier out on FriendFeed. First, thanks for the information, it helped! Second, it "Recommend With Comment" would be excellent!
How about having some sort of communication method with the people you follow or who follow you? That would be cool because then I could have an offline discussion about postings and such. [Sorry if this is a repeat, I just joined this FF thing.]
Is it possible to make the images that we annotate in feedly be uploaded to Tumblr servers? Now when I annotate some text and images, the images is still on the original source servers when they are posted to my Tumblr site. Many sources don’t like that.
Dear feedly, can you add a feature that lets users add individual feed URLs, not just OPML files? I'd much rather have that over a Google search bar, actually. :P Love the app.
Sophia. Thanks for the suggestion. We are going to look into this. In the meantime the work around is to past the feed URL in the browser URL bar and use the firefox subscription process using feedly in the drop down.
- Edwin Khodabakchian
Hi Edwin. About that, sometimes Feedly doesn't catch certain feed formats or Firefox doesn't display the "Subscribe to..." dropdown menu when I load certain URLs that's why I brought this up. Might be the feed owner's fault, but, oh well. :D Cheers!
- Sophia Lucero
Ok. We will bump the priority on "being able to add a feed directly from feedly". Thanks for the feedback!

For me, the only thing lacking in feedly is gmail intigration. If it is to be a start page, then it should show my emails... and maybe bookmarks. Anyway, love the app <3
I feel like feedly does some great datamining, and it would benefit from some redigested pages from other meme-tracking sites. I second @slax 's idea to allow customization of the headerbar. It would be great to see what I've shared, starred, and annotated.
I guess these customization can be part of the skins/themes... maybe it would be great if we can make our own skins/themes... wish the feedly team design the skin/theme feature customizable :)

im very impressed/addicted by feedly. plz consider suggestions (1) please save my eyes, the white background is really hurting... a css option in the preferences for background/text/h1 (2) below the preview/copy link plz add open in new tab [in background]
slax: thank for the kind words. We will look into both options. #1 might take a little longer because we are looking at what it would take to make feedly theme-able and it is not a trivial issue.
- Edwin Khodabakchian
themes sound great :) [just to clarify, #2) while reading the article, under the access, after 2 links preview & copy link, plz add open in new tab[in background] ]
- slax
Sure. FYI. If you go to more > preferences, there is an option to configure the preview link to open in a new tab instead of the inline preview frame. So that could be a step in the right direction until we make the "in the background option work. I also think that command + click on the title opens in a new background tab. Did you try that?

I'd love to see Feedly remember (and maybe login to) Twitter, etc. Further, when you do add comment integration (hopefully for the sites in the Gawker Media Network, blogger, etc), it'd be invaluable to had feedly store the login information for commenting on those sites.
Kevin: we have been trying to stay away from having to see and save usernames and passwords. This is one of the reasons we decided to go with the extension route. In the medium term, we are looking at adding full open id and oauth support to feedly. It should help reduce some of the single sign-on pain. Thanks for taking the time to post this suggestion though!

While on an item page for a feed, I would love to have buttons (Or, and I'd love this: keyboard shortcuts) to quickly move to next or previous item within that feed. The extra cognitive load in going to the "Also..." is high enough to discourage rapid feed browsing.
Can you add an option to store screen width as a "per computer" setting instead of globally? I use Firefox on 1920x1200 and 1280x1024 monitors regularly, and seem to constantly need to re-adjust that setting.
