"When I was a kid - 12, 14, around there - I would much rather have been a good baseball player or a hit with the girls. But I couldn't play ball, I couldn't dance... So, I started to draw and to write. I was... lucky that I didn't have anyone to copy, be impressed by. I had developed my own style, I was creating before I knew there was a Thurber, a Benchley, a Price and a Steinberg. I never saw their work till I was around 30." - Anna Haro
I love Shel Silverstein's writing so much. Just seeing those book covers made me smile. - Trish R

I was wondering who was counter balancing my pessimism today. ;-) - Ňicķ
Beautiful though Nice Fish Films. I agree wholeheartedly. And I also agree with Nick. It's time for me to make a personal commitment to being a better steward of the part of the world I live in...on many levels, not just the physical. - JMakesAwesomeSauce
the world is already fine, we are already whole and complete and fine as well, it is just that we pay too much attention to the mind and ego, which are basically just agitations processing stress, rather than machines of insight. the "heart" and intuition are where life is and, who we are. parked there, life is good. no matter what. ... nice post, thanks - Gregory Lent
@ JMS I was trying to write something profound in reply to your comment, but your sincerity and desire needs no further expansion. A couple of years ago I started walking around my neighborhood with a trash bag, just picking up discarded and scattered fragments of debris. Now it's become a very a part of my habit. This is a selfish act as I really enjoy just being outside, getting to know my surroundings. I keep in mind that I have a long way to go to equal the amount of trash I've left behind. - Nice Fish Films
@ Gregory you remind me of my wise friend Tom Morey, life is good! - Nice Fish Films
Just looking over the list of people who "liked" this makes my soul smile. - Nice Fish Films

I've actually been to quite a few of these all across Europe, and they're even more awesome (and smell FANTASTIC) in person. Some are considerably smaller than the photos make them appear, which is always interesting (kinda like the church in the wedding scene in The Sound of Music...it's seems huge on film, but it's really this dinky little chapel filmed wide and high). Really great to be reminded of those visits. Thanks for posting this. :) - abacab
This is an awesome set of photos. Proud to see my alma mater's Riggs Library included in the list. - Ryan Kuder
at one point in my life, i moved the entire collection of books at the Peabody in Baltimore. not necessarily a fun job but it is exciting knowing that the collection will more than likely sit where i put it for the next twenty years. - Nailed Jello
