"The estimates for each column are based on different groups of people. So these strange movements are due to statistical error. Again, there is nothing misleading about this chart if you read it the way it is supposed to be read. Certainly within each cancer type group there may be subgroups which have higher survival rates (different factors for each patient), but this is an overall look which is making a clear and understandable point."
