Interesting website for SharePoint products, but as with any site like this, its success is going to be driven by the community. - John Ferringer

Great points by Pete. I've been thinking about the same stuff lately, although its kind of scary b/c I've also been wondering what's coming in the next version of SharePoint at the same time. Its just so hard to keep on top of stuff when you're not using it on a daily basis, but MS is in a tough spot too. It is really hard to find the balance between too many updates (.NET releases) and too few (SQL 2000 to 2005, XP to Vista). - John Ferringer
Heh, I was just talking about this last night. CAS policies are a very good thing, and you should never use Full Trust, its a cop out. - John Ferringer
Not for everyone. We ditched our cable & kept the internet in February and I don't miss it. Not at all. Just want to get a better antenna, although I'm hoping that the converter boxes will help with that a little. - John Ferringer
Good stuff. It may seem a little common sense-ish, but I prefer that to making the assumption that ppl automatically know this by default. - John Ferringer
Wonder if that will include updates to the server products? Seems like it will, since that's what we saw with the SP1 release as well... - John Ferringer
Very important thing to keep in mind, never backup your SharePoint environment at the same time that your search crawls are scheduled to run. - John Ferringer
Good info. The post mentions this, but the important distinction to keep in mind about this function is that all it does is keep new site collections from being created in the target database. Site collections within that database are still able to view, add, modify, and delete content. - John Ferringer
Hopefully we'll be out to Mendocino again in the near future, looks like we should try to add this winery to our list to visit. - John Ferringer

Good information to keep in mind. I didn't have an agent for my current book deal, but that's partly b/c the publisher came to us so we didn't really have to work to sell the proposal, plus its a technology book. - John Ferringer
