FF is a flood of info & Filters are a MUST. Share your doubts, filters, searches and related tips here. A Primer on FF filters (MUST READ) - http://sn.im/gdmxs
Here is a nice little search for native FF posts with at least 2 'likes'. It eliminates imported items and only shows those with some engagement, giving a snapshot of who is really using the service. Note that I can't read most of them. https://friendfeed.com/search...
It is cool little things like this that make me upset when search breaks.
- Alex Scrivener
It is interesting to note that at least on the first page of that, I know all of the English-language posters. The English-language group of active FriendFeeders really must not be very large anymore. I always wonder if there are other pockets of them around somewhere that just don't connect with any of us, but maybe not.
- Jandy
Jandy, the big x-factor is English language private groups and feeds. I still don't think it's the significant in size, but we just don't know what percentage it is.

I have a saved search for fresh stuff on FriendFeed. Lately, everything that isn't in Turkish or Arabic is something I have already seen and commented on. https://friendfeed.com/search...
depressing when i search mine. it was all razed and replaced with parking lots and filling stations and, in one case, the new city hall.
- Joe The Sausage
This actually turned up some really good vintage photos, prints, and postcards... i put it on slideshow and just watched for a while
- Chris Heath
Brian, that shows FF native posts but also pulls in all custom RSS posts. There are so many of those that it's hard to wade through to see just the native FF posts.
- Rochelle
Yeah -- I see. It's too bad FF didn't implement the custom RSS more cleanly.
- Brian Sullivan
Is there a way I can use Brian's link and then do somethingsomething -ping.fm to at least weed out those posts? Does service:-ping.fm work? Help!
- Rochelle
Rochelle, Louis is correct. If you need more features (have filtering applied on top of any list or search, use my script: http://userscripts.org/scripts... (also can filter by keyword, show only posts with 1 or more images an a few other things). Page me for help. :)

Scheduled Saved Searches: The Next Big Update to Saved Searches ( to be used together with the "Subscribing to Saved Search" feature suggestion here --->- http://friendfeed.com/ffss... )
Scheduled Saved Searches [ feature suggestion ]: Your subscriptions and Friend-of-a-Friend(FoaF) get you content and content "recommendations" on your homefeed. Now, with "scheduled" Saved Searches content "filtering" comes into your home feed as well. Schedule the updates from your favorite people, groups, events, conferences and anything else you are interested in at a time that is comfortable to you and stay on top of your interests always. Since the updates flow into your feed at a time of your choice, you won't miss them; and since the updates are clumped together by topic, you can settle into a rhythm while friendfeeding. The audio attached to this post explains this in a little more detail.

lol @ the smiley Ahsan :D. Just putting the idea out there, FF isn't the only one who can use this; openff can implement this too. Realistically, yes, it'll be a long time before this happens.
- vijay
All they gotta do is hook it up to the email system (yeah, right) :)
- Ahsan Ali
OK, this was cool. I wanted to see how scobleizer replies to twitter comments. So, I asked for all tweets not by him but with a reply from him. http://friendfeed.com/search...
I don't really have this as a saved search. This was research to see how one person manages his FF/Twitter interaction. But it does show off the sort of thing you can do with FF search.

was using 'fresh' - to put abit of color on my stream - just changed to 'Helvetica' - to try it out.
- Chris Clayton
I hadn't tried any of the themes until I saw this thread. Just ran through what's available and have to say I like Helvetica, too. Simple, clean interface.
- Will King
That's a good question :) A Home Feed is not exactly a list (it doesn't have a list name)
- Ahsan Ali
But if you really wanted to, you could simulate that with: friends:tomit -list:abc -list:xyz
- Ahsan Ali
Or I guess I could make a list that is a copy of my home feed. That's just a lot of trouble. I just wish it was a searchable item.
- Sullivan
from email
Yes, that's what I'd do. Personally, I don't have anything on my Home Feed. I have 25 lists, plus a Firehose list (with all subscriptions)

New Saved Search - Search for comments by FriendFeeders in the Feedback room - http://friendfeed.com/search... Sometimes you get those tidbits about what they're working on ;)
hey, I just noticed something cool. Do a search with room:something and FF auto-changes room to group when it is _saved_. I know it's trivial, but ... cool ! :P

#STICKY : The Official FF Filters list. *note to admins - edit this post & add new filters as they come in, thanks :) Also, all comments in this post that aren't filter links have to be edited out.

I have a search for my posts with no likes where I am the only commenter (-likes:1 comments:1 -comments:2 comment:alexscrivener from:alexscrivener) I have another for my posts with comments or likes (comments:1 OR likes:1) from:alexscrivener. How can I subtract the first from the second, so that I get my posts with comments or likes, unless I am...
Hmm, by definition it's already excluded... The first one searches for posts without any likes, the second one searches for posts with at least one like, hence it shouldn't overlap. I suggest this: from:alexscrivener -likes:2 OR -comment:2 which will get all posts with exactly one like or exactly one comment. Try it out.

Fwd: I like to search for stuff related to php but not in url, because a lot results are like http://a.com/a.php which i don't want in the results? Does anybody know if it is possible to filter these results out. Thanks (via http://friendfeed.com/friendf...)
