Hi, i was trying to set up Google Docs with Browsa-Browsa to have the list of documents as a sidebar, but i can't get the iPhone version in the plugin pane, just the plain, ugly mobile version. Is there a way to make it work?
Just wrote a userscript for Friendfeed that alerts you using Growl and adds a dock badge when used with Fluid. It's a first draft, so any ideas/advice/bug fixes/contributions are welcome. http://userscripts.org/scripts...
The notification doesn't contain the text of the message btw, just the fact that there was one. Couldn't work out how to get that without using the API + private key etc.

Basically if you run FF in Fluid, which makes it seem like an application on the Mac, this will integrate DMs a bit more with the system and help the illusion that FF is a bit of software rather than a website.

Any way to open links in new tabs in the background (especially useful for Google Reader's inability to open news in background tabs instead of new windows)?
Command (Apple)-click should open links in the background. Make sure you have 'allow browsing to any URL' enabled in preferences.

I sometimes have problems with Gmail running in Fluid. Some action will take a long time to complete (showing the gmail "still working" message at top) Finally I close the window and just try to reload gmail. This produces an error "400: bad request" every time. Any suggestions?
my only guess is there is some state left over from whatever Ajax request Gmail was hung up on, and this state is included when trying to reload the whole page, causing the error.

Seeing it here too! And only in Fluid. Todd, any update on this?

I wrote a script to automatically kill and restart all fluid apps every 12 hours - so far gmail and my other fluid apps have been running much better. you can grab it here - http://mjg500.tumblr.com/post...

I had similar problems with Google Reader. I found the problem fixed after I reinstalled the fluid app.
- Rohit
I have been finding that problem lately with Gmail in general in Firefox. maybe the service?

I've been having trouble with Fluid apps becoming unresponsive after being open for too long so I wrote a script to automatically restart all open fluid apps on a periodic basis - http://mjg500.tumblr.com/post...
Figured it out. It has to do with Google Labs apparently (specifically the ones on the sidebar like Calendar or other things). Upon disabling those, it seems to have stopped scrolling to the bottom.

Style for Google Reader: elegant and slick. This style simulates the look of Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Actually the style is taken from iTunes user interface design scheme, marble, which is said to replace the aqua interface.

URL bar with gmail. I noticed that the url bar in fluid never shows more than the base url in gmail. Firefox shows the message id, which is convenient when trying to generate a link to a specific message. I looked through fluid's prefs and didn't see anything. Thoughts?
Derek: You could create multiple Fluid applications per account. For example: If I wanted to control both my @cdevroe and @viddler accounts, I could create applications named Hahlo-cdevroe and Hahlo-viddler.

but aren't the cookies shared and therefore make it impossible to be logged into two accounts at the same time?

(I'm a novice)How does one load a script from pastie to use on a fluid SSB? I don't see an "install" button like on userscripts.org. I tried dragging a .js file from desktop to SSB window (running gmail) but nothing happened. I opened a new tab in the SSB window and dragged the file there,no luck - http://pastie.org/pastes...
At the menu of the app you've created using fluid, click on the icon which resides on the right of "Window" > Select "Manage Userscripts > At prompt, add script into the "Include:" section.

Another way: under the SSB's Userscript menu (the script icon in the main menu bar) select "New Userscript...". In the dialog that pops up give yr script a name, then click "Create". Now paste the script source into the .js document that is opened. Save & close. Look under the Userscript menu again for your new script (by name). Click it to make it activated (checkmark will appear). Reload your browser window/tab for it to take effect.

Mailplane has lots of great features for Gmail that Fluid does not. Fluid is a general SSB generator and Mailplane is an SSB highly tailored/polished for Gmail. I'd give Mailplane a try, but it is not free like Fluid.
- Todd Ditchendorf
I don't understand why you would want to pay $25 for MailPlane. Why pay to use Gmail when Gmail is free to begin with? I mean, if you want the features of a desktop app, then why not just use the mail app that comes with OS X? Just seems a bit unnecessary.
- Kahil
Ok, the same reason you use Fluid for any web app. But MailPlane has a number of features like drag and drop attachments that does it a little better than Fluid + Gmail. (Only for Gmail, for Checkvist, FriendFeed, Basecamp and Lighthouse I use Fluid).
- Leandro Ardissone ∞
but still....you can do all of that with the mail app....and for free. I just don't see any features in mailplane that make it worth the $25 investment.
- Kahil
I'm pretty sure Mailplane uses a Fluid instance and then just throws some other stuff in.
- Nicholas
yeah, its something similar to Fluid for sure. what i don't understand is how they can get away with charging $25 for what essentially is a free product, Gmail. Its like painting a house and calling it new....or "born agains"...lol Don't waste your money folks. If you really want some of those features, then just use Thunderbird or the Mail app....they are FREE
- Kahil
@Kahil - dude, chill. Mailplane is a cool app with some significant value adds for mac users of Gmail. you have now stated 3 times that you dont know why anyone would buy it... you dont like the app, *we get it*. Let others decide for themselves. Mailplane may not be for everyone, but that's ok.
- Todd Ditchendorf
@Nicholas, actually, no... Mailplane is not affiliated with Fluid in any way, and it does not use Fluid in any way either. It just happens to be very similar from an implementation standpoint (both are SSBs built on WebKit/Cocoa)
- Todd Ditchendorf
I agree with @itod. Also, people is paying for the extra effort added over a free app, nobody is paying for gmail itself. It's like you want to add extra memory to your computer, you aren't paying for the computer itself, but for the extra memory. Consider it like a donation to the developers for their improvements over gmail. And if you don't like that, well, don't buy it. Gmail is free.

Lately, I am not able to click on an RSS feed and have it open up in my Google Reader Fluid anymore. It always wants to jump back to Safari, which in turn opens a new tab in Google Reader and so forth until the Fluid.app throws an error and allows me to terminate that cycle. I didn’t change anything I am aware of. Any idea what might be wrong? Has...
thanks for the link Tod. unfortunately, that doesn’t work. it only keeps Fluid from detecting the infinite loop, which means the SSB keeps spawning empty tabs until the memory is full or I force quit it.
