what about the other 1/2 of the whipping cream? doesn't it go in? (Okay with me--I'll pour it into a rich cuppa coffee or on a dessert.)

"There are chicken wings, guacamole, nachos, sandwiches of all kinds. But the best football food of all is chili. A football Sunday isn’t complete without a big pot full of spicy, burbling, delicious chili. And I’ve settled on my go-to recipe this season. It’s a vegetarian version that gets a deep, earthy flavor thanks to a heap of spices and a palmful of instant espresso—and I think it deserves a spot on the menu for your next Football Sunday. Nutella Brioche Pudding | Bread Pudding Recipe | Baked
"In restaurants, bread pudding isn’t very high up on my list of things I’d order. They’re often dried out and rubbery, closer in texture and taste to a buffet-line scrambled egg than the luscious dessert the name promises. This self-sweetened, self-saucing brioche pudding cobbled together from pantry staples and scraps turns the traditional notion of a bread pudding on its head. Swaths of buttery brioche crust are enrobed in a fragrant chocolaty custard, holding bits of tender sweet fruit in its folds. I used banana because it was well past its prime, but this would be just as good with raspberries, blueberries, or whatever fruit you happen to have on hand." - Steven Perez from Bookmarklet

Rise of the 'gastrosexual' as men take up cooking in a bid to seduce women
"They say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach but it seems the dining tables have turned as increasing numbers of men are taking up cooking in a bid to seduce women. Dubbed 'Gastrosexuals' this new generation of men consider cooking more a hobby than a household chore and use their kitchen prowess to impress friends and prospective partners. Men having the ability to cook is also now a key factor in attracting women along with salary, status, personality and appearance, according to new research. The report 'Emergence of the Gastrosexual' cites the popularity of superstar chefs Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver as a factor in making cooking a macho pursuit. According to the study by food company PurAsia 48 per cent of people say being able to cook makes a person more attractive to them and 23 per cent of 18-34 year old men say they cook to potentially seduce a partner. The report also shows 60 per cent of British men now regularly cook for friends and family, favouring... more... - Cee Bee from Bookmarklet

Blueberry Martini Jello Shots – NYC | Bionic Bites
"My friend Chris invited me to a barbecue last weekend, and wanting to be a good BBQ guest like Deb at Smitten Kitchen, I offered to bake a pie. It turns out, though, no one who was attending the BBQ was very excited at the prospect of pie. Who would’ve thunk it! Geez, how can anyone not like pie? Pies are delicious; it’s jammy fruit in a buttery flaky crust! So then I thought of making a watermelon tomato salad with olives, but after showing Chris the recipe, her response was, “Uh, that’s weird.” Back to the drawing board, I searched the Internet, but nothing seemed really interesting. A few days later I was still lost, but after a few glasses of sangria with friends, it finally dawned on me, ‘My friends are lushes, why not make jello shots!’ I didn’t want to make regular jello shots though, I mean my college days are far behind me. "An egg fried in the center of a piece of bread—a simple preparation that elevates the union of my two favorite breakfast food groups, eggs and toast, to a whole new level. I've seen this delicious combination referred to as: Popeye, egg in a basket, toad in the hole, and the more literal eggs-in-toast. Wikipedia lists even more that I haven't encountered: Kibbee Egg, hen in a nest, moon egg, cowboy egg, and one-eyed jack.
