Michael Forian
“The measures taken by successive governments to save the politically corrupt, morally bankrupt, physically decrepit giant from collapse have served to only hasten its demise. While the decline has been decades in the making, the acceleration of ruinous policies under the current Administration is leading the United States — and much of the world — to the point of no return,” says Celente. By 2012, even those in denial and still clinging to hope will be forced to face the truth. It will be called “Obamageddon” in America. The rest of the world will call it “The Greatest Depression.” - Michael Forian from Bookmarklet
Obamageddon... I like that! - Michael Forian
stock up on ammo & canned food now! {/sarcasm} - Andrew C (✓)
I just might! I trust Celente and his trend forecast. He's a genius. - Michael Forian
Genius? http://www.edrants.com/gerald-... Ever see that episode of Newsradio where Dave booked a futurist? (also, http://blogs.computerworld.com/fox_new... ) - Andrew C (✓)
Just because he forecasts a gloomy future? Time will tell, but he is a genius for many people, including me. - Michael Forian
No, it's more that many of his previous predictions were either wrong or extraordinarily vague, or so obvious anyone could see it... as mentioned in the two links I just posted. - Andrew C (✓)
Isn't 2012 when all heck is gonna break loose anyway? I saw it in a movie trailer... :) - Bill Sodeman
Andrew, just look at his prediction rate on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... - Look at the high regard people treat him with and his institute. - Michael Forian from iPhone
Bill, the 2012 movie trailer is awesome! - Michael Forian from iPhone
I've never heard of Celente till today, and what I've read of his writings does not fill me with confidence. - Andrew C (✓)
Andrew, have you seen The Obama Deception? By Alex Jones (Oh no! I mentioned thou' who shall not be named!)? Celente is in 90% of it. Check it out on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch... - Michael Forian
You will not be disappointed to learn that I consider Alex Jones a kook as well. (And the wikipedia page for Celente rightly notes that his more extravagant claims are hard to find verification for. Combine that with his banal or wrong claims and well, no, in my book the evidence for 'genius' is looking mighty slim.) - Andrew C (✓)
The Wikipedia page showed both sides of the story, not a one sided one. Only time will tell with Celente, again, he is a "future" trends forecaster! - Michael Forian
Time should already tell! He's been in this game for years now and his predictions to date are either lame in that they're too-vague-or-obvious-to-qualify, wrong, or unverified. - Andrew C (✓)
So you're telling me that his predictions (I'll take it that you mean the vast majority of them, not all), that were lame in the sense that they're too-vague-or-obvious-to-qualify, wrong, or unverified got him to create the Trends Research Institute? http://www.trendsresearch.com/ - His praisers vastly out weigh his critics. He knows his stuff, and he will point out the obvious, for why... more... - Michael Forian
The more I read about this guy, the more he sounds like a snake oil pitchman. The web site design for that company is straight out of Kook Central. (I know, you can't judge a website by its design) But since his two books (from 1991 and 1999) are available at my local library, I will give them a skim. - Andrew C (✓)
Go for it. Maybe you'll find something to like about him :-) - Michael Forian
And I'm sorry, but if you think worthless people don't get paid - and quite well - you have clearly missed the Cramer/CNBC fracas of a few months ago, plus, I dunno, a truckload of other examples. - Andrew C (✓)
Cramer was gambling with people's money. That's a big no-no with Celente. Him and his institute do not give out financial advice. - Michael Forian
My _point_ was that just cause the guy has a company and gets paid to make predictions does not mean he is credible. - Andrew C (✓)
Hundreds of news networks across the globe use him as a credible source, be it CNN or Russia Today. I guess we should all turn off the TV so we can be shielded from Celente's mild errors. - Michael Forian
Argument from Authority is a logical fallacy. (edit: and so is a strawman argument.) - Andrew C (✓)
It is. But I was only turning your extremist beliefs about Celente into a pathetic parody. And, I was stating the obvious. - Michael Forian
"into a pathetic parody" Yeah, /that's what a strawman argument is/. - Andrew C (✓)
Actually, it's the truth, but I'll let you label my comments to your pleasure ;) - Michael Forian
*awaits for above comment to be labeled as fallacy... wait, maybe this one will be too?* - Michael Forian
Obamageddon is now only 6-18 months away! - Andrew C (✓)

I'm normally not a fan of Porsche styling, but this red on black thing is kinda hot! - Sparky, lurking
I've been fascinated with sunroofs since I was a little kid (cause my parents always bought cars that never had them). This one is technically impressive; love the integration into the rear and how it segues into the rear of the car. Someday, Derrick. Someday. - Derrick

Yeah, so totally saw a new Carrera today. Wasn't a Targa, but the tres cool LED lights beneath the headlamps gave it away as a 2009. I was more excited about seeing the car than meeting Zach Snyder last week. DAMN YOU SEXY PORSCHES. - Derrick

Oh, so true. Isn't it? - Michael Forian
no... it isn't at all. America gets back it's investment in Israel. something it doesn't with the rest of it's foreign aid. further Israel would gladly not take the money if the world would not dictate it's sovereign borders. it was Jimmy Carter who forced this on Israel. further the other part of this is we are funding the terrorists around them with AID. unlike their neighbors Israel... more... - NoahDavidSimon
this poster is the reality I am dealing with online on social networks. problem with libertarian theory is it is a theory. it has no applicable community. without a community there is no application. Ayn Rand might of been a Zionist, but people that would of thrown her into an oven have co-opted her ideas. - NoahDavidSimon
I would like to know Michael... How is it true???? - Ron
don't bother Ron. I had to block him... not once... but three times now. I keep on telling myself he is just a 14 year old kid. but he is brainwashed with hate. I am sad because he is of a Polish background and I thought their people might of learned the lessons of the Holocaust, but sadly this child has found the loopholes with his own guilt complex. I tried for months to tell him... more... - NoahDavidSimon
Forian thinks America blew up the WTC on 911. the kid is poison. - NoahDavidSimon
Happy 61st Birthday to Israel, Noah! :) Listen, my political stance has changes quite a lot recently, and it's bound to change sooner or later too. I do read some stuff from infowars.com quite regularly, but it's not my new Bible. I appreciate you bringing up the links to the videos... brings back old memories ;) Have a good one! - Michael Forian
Jordan just threatened war of all Arab states if Israel does not agree to negotiate with Abu Mazen. this means that Fatah does not recognize the right of a Jewish state unless it is the unsustainable 1967 border. this means the "2 state" idea does not exist. the PLO is now claiming that Arafat never got the approval from Fatah... let alone Hamas or Hezballah. so as far as logic is... more... - NoahDavidSimon
When the day comes, we will see— Seesmic that is! I read upon this briefly, but if it is what you are stating then Israel is going to have a lot more to deal with next time around. Who knows! Maybe Israel will be receiving the humanitarian aid from the UN this time! - Michael Forian
that day is now. "Israel faces all-out war within 18 months if it does not come to terms with the Arab world and allow the establishment of a new Palestinian state with its capital in Jerusalem, according to Jordan’s King Abdullah II. The Hashemite monarch also declared on America's Meet the Press television program Sunday that threats from Iran and Al Qaeda will fade away once Jerusalem is divided." http://ff.im/2sjuG - NoahDavidSimon
these are the followers of http://ff.im/2iksu Haj Amin al-Husseini. Arafat's uncle and a top Nazi who ran concentration camps. he founded the PLO that Arafat wanted Israel to negotiate with. the head of the PLO is the man who bombed the Munich Olympics. you expect their word to be good? in some ways Hamas is more honest then Fatah. - NoahDavidSimon
No, that day will be within the next 18 months. But not now. - Michael Forian
up to 18 months in PLO terms means yesterday - NoahDavidSimon
Noah, you are the Douglas Feith of the internet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... - Bob
I was watching Obama speak tonight. Tu Quoque Bob. Douglas Faith under Reagan would of passed legislation that would of protected terrorists and would of given them "Geneva Conference" enemy combatant status. would of made saving LA from Al Qaeda impossible - NoahDavidSimon
when you sign papers with a doctor to perform surgery, it is murder for the doctor to leave after cutting you open. The doctor can't turn around and say he just didn't care anymore. He also posted a piece saying that Hitler's worst mistake was that "he didn't gas the Jews."" what is going on here Ron Paul? why is this acceptable on your forums? - NoahDavidSimon
time to take Israel's que and bring down the Iranian regime. Iran's protesters are being sloughtered as the social media hypocrates online can do nothing. Rep. Kennedy Denounces Mockingbird Media Over War - http://www.infowars.com/rep-ken...
This is why I'm proud of the Kennedy's— "In the mid-1970s, after Nixon’s fall from grace for attempting to cover-up Watergate, Congress passed the War Powers Act, eliminated the draft, demanded oversight of the CIA, cut the budget for the Pentagon’s Special Operations Forces, and curtailed the ClA’s paramilitary capabilities. “The lesson of Vietnam is that we must throw off the cumbersome mantle of world policeman,” said then senator Edward Kennedy. On Wednesday, Kennedy’s nephew, Rep. Americans' Global Warming Concerns Continue to Drop
PRINCETON, NJ -- Gallup's annual update on Americans' attitudes toward the environment shows a public that over the last two years has become less worried about the threat of global warming, less convinced that its effects are already happening, and more likely to believe that scientists themselves are uncertain about its occurrence. In response to one key question, 48% of Americans now believe that the seriousness of global warming is generally exaggerated, up from 41% in 2009 and 31% in 1997, when Gallup first asked the question. - Michael Forian from Bookmarklet

My pooch, Fenton! 1998-2010
Fenton Forian, 1998-2010. We had to have him put down because of growing tumour on his belly and two masses, one near his heart and one near his lungs. We were only informed that he would only have a few days at the most to live, because he was anemic, on Wednesday. My brother, who originally bought the dog, slept over last night to be with him for the last time. This morning, my mother, brother and myself brought him to the vet with tears bursting out onto out faces. We then tried to compose ourselves. They have him a major tranquillizer and we had a good 15 minutes to talk to him. The nice doctor, Madame Claire, started process after that and we had another 5 minutes alone with him. He was really a great dog. Most Golden's are. He past away at exactly 11:00AM this morning. - Michael Forian from Bookmarklet

Just was talking to http://www.friendfeed.com/garin and we came to the conclusion that if you are going to comment on a friendfeed item you should either be first or last. Why? They always are visible. So, here's your chance! :-)
zaloom! - Kevin Johnson
If we are really cool we'll get on this list http://friendfeed.com/search... - Robert Scoble
Kevin is first, who will be last? I just want to be the penultimate commenter! - Robert Scoble
first and last words are all that matter on the FF. - rob friedman
Okay. Everyone stop NOW! - Kevin Sablan
great. now FF is going to be filled up with those annoying ass people that comment "FIRST!" on everything. - Enrique Gutierrez
Aw crap, I could sit here all night waiting to be last, so may as well comment now. - Sharon McPherson

Any worthy FF thread will engage interested parties enough to read most of the comments. - iTad
Do I get bonus points if I end up being the thread killer? - Kevin Johnson
Kevin you could always delete your 1st comment. :) - rob friedman
Kevin! Yes, and we're having a great time watching this. It will get old fast, but for now it's really fun! - Robert Scoble
Dang it I am 5 min too late. So I guess it is like posting on a blog post, you always want to be first. - Jeff
Hey Enrique.. that would suck. Oh... LAST! Oh Jeff... Last. - Ted Bradford II
That's why these threads just go on and on and on... people just want to have the last word. ;-P - Chris Heath
Chris: I don't want the last word. I want the penultimate word. :-) - Robert Scoble
Nope, I like the riffng of the conversation. Jump in anywhere. Enjoy the free flow of ideas and worry not about being seen by the scanners. Those who take the time to expand the thread have such a richer experience. - michael sean wright
if i wasn't so tired i'd play that out Chris (as my last post was truly in jest). Late here in East TN. Gonna go tip a few cows and call it a day. - Ted Bradford II
Ted: so was mine ... didn't you catch the winky tongue? (i'm on cape fear so i'm soon to bed as well) - Chris Heath
Good point, unless you're actually using the RT chat aspect of FriendFeed, I guess... - Andy Werner
I actually come back 5 days later to make comments so I can have the last word. Everyone has already forgotten what the conversation is about by then. - Jeff
Chris- I did, but needed a segue into a cow tipping joke... cause I've never done so before. I do know this, tomorrow I will use the word 'penultimate' and dazzle family and friends. Hope alls quiet on the Cape bro. These storms have been a biotch. Annnnnnd Jeff just trumped us all. Tell him what he's won Enrique... nite all. - Ted Bradford II
Second to last is always visible on my screen. :) - Bwana ☠
Clever way to get the most commented upon comment on FF ever.... - Barak B
Ted, if you haven't dozed off- i'll have you know that the coastal winds tend to keep a lot of the storm systems at bay- if you're close enough to the water - a mile or 5 inland can make a big difference some days - and spot t/storms can be localized around here big time - for instance yesterday it rained (for a short period) at my house while i was at work 5 miles away getting no rain - only knew cuz the ground was wet when i went home for lunch... ok - it's really time for sleep now - g'nite FriendFeed - Chris Heath
so in other words, last is not least? - Julie Bovee Hill
Barak: check out this idea for a long thread (still nowhere near the longest on friendfeed, but the idea.. ) http://friendfeed.com/ajbatac... - Chris Heath
Chris: Yes, that is a good one too. This is better though and I predict with end up with more comments. - Barak B
Yay! I am last as of now :) - Amit Nangare
lets see how long this lasts for! :) - Paul Kinlan
Another one of these? From Scoble this time? Wow. BTW, last post. - Chris Charabaruk
I will be the penultimate commenter! - Garin Kilpatrick
That way I can be the ultimate one. - Chris Charabaruk
Nope. - Barak B
friendfeed should allow for "liking" comments so top comments can be the ones shown, no matter the chronology. And allow the users to watch comments by likes, threaded or chronologically. - Charbax

I usually read all the comments of something I'm interested in. I don't just read the top and bottom ones so I don't care where I come in. I comment on what I want to because I want to say something. Canon Rebel XS vs. Sony Alpha A200K. FIGHT!
I'm in the market for an entry-level DSLR. These are the 2 that I'm stuck between. All I'm asking for is a basic comparison and which one YOU think is a better choice. If you have an suggestions for a better DSLR, feel free to comment as well! - Michael Forian
Canon. - Mona Nomura
I had a Sony CyberShot 5 mp that I truly enjoyed and loved. When I stepped up to DSLR I went with the Canon XSi rather than the Sony because of the reviews and image comparisons at http://www.dpreview.com/ Plus I knew the odds of being able to rent lenses before buying were better with something like a Canon or Nikon. - FFing Enigma
Go with the Canon - without a doubt. I had been looking for a while and I researched. Ended up with the Rebel Xsi and I couldn't be happier with it. - Holli C. Buck
I don't have the option to bump up to the XSi, so if I were to get a Canon, it would only be the XS. - Michael Forian
Michael, the site I posted above should still have some decent comparison shots for the XS. In fact, here is where they compare it to several cameras including the A200 (though not the A200k) http://www.dpreview.com/reviews... There are spec and image comparisons, which might help you decide. - FFing Enigma
Tina! The site helped a lot! I couldn't check it right away due to my teacher being a bit anal about going on non-school related websites :( Again, thanks :) Canon is looking the best right now! - Michael Forian
Just got the XSi about a week ago. I'm completely in love with it. - m.0
I wonder if anyone on FriendFeed has the A200? - Michael Forian
When purchasing a DSLR body you are not so much buying a camera as buying into a line of lenses. Lenses are 100x more important than the body they attach to. So the better question is Canon or Sony lenses. And the answer there is clear: Canon. Buy Canon or Nikon, nothing else. - Benjamin Golub
Canon XSi. I have one. Great Camera, and as Benjamin says, there are great lenses (such as the Canon L series) that work with it. Even the kit lens is good, much better than previous Canon kit lenses, I'm led to believe. - Ian May

Oh, come on! Do you really think he was talking about Israel? Paul wouldn't touch Israel, with Stein there, with a 30ft poll while on CNN. He was talking about the states. - Michael Forian
who used the occupation word? time for Paul to show up at a bar stool next to Mel Gibson. maybe Jimmy Carter can show him how to write a meaningless apology letter. Paul is a moron on most things. you can't create trickle down economics without a vessel that can hold water. our vessel is called a Republic. his internationalist view on Capitalism trickles out.... it doesn't trickle down in - NoahDavidSimon
to use the word occupied you must look at his language. Israel never occupied Judea, Jerusalem and Samaria. to say that one would have to assume that there was a country that was occupied. a broken treaty became the reason the Jordanians did occupy those lands from 1948 to 1967 and committed ethnic cleansing. to argue these facts as opinion is bias, prejudice. you go in the right circles and gravity itself becomes a mere opinion... the only way to prove otherwise is to diagnose the person making the claim - NoahDavidSimon
I didn't agree with Ben Stein that Islam was not the cause. It's his analysis and weakness on that issue which brings him into dialog with Paul and Lee. Lee obviously wants more money to be spent, Paul wants no money to be spent... but Ben Stein enables both of them by saying that the reason all of this is so expensive is because we don't say who is attacking us. It really is that... more... - NoahDavidSimon

A bit of a situation... input wanted!
Hey guys! Long time no chat! So, I was going through the pictures on my Sony digital camera and wanted to see the photos on the internal memory. I took out the memory stick and to my surprise I found 2 pictures that I had never taken in my life! The first being the interior of Future Shop (Canada's Best Buy) and the other being taken of an employee (of Future Shop) inside of Future Shop. Yes, I had purchased the camera at Future Shop, more than a year ago, and I had never checked the internal memory. The guy who sold me the camera for my mom told me that it was "brand new" and never used (I always make sure of this because I hate the fact of someone already "spoiling" the product). So, what should I do? Go to Future Shop and show it to them? Ask them for a total refund? Something more?! WHAT SHOULD I DEMAND!!! :D - Michael Forian
Show it to them in writing and cc any consumer organizations you know of for Canada. Consumerist is focused on the US but I believe they occasionally publish incidents that have happened in other countries. Before you frame your letter, read other stories on the web to see what those people said and did. I'm pretty sure Consumerist has done stories on products sold as new that turned out not to be. - Spidra Webster
Before you contact them, though, decide what you're asking for. Are you willing to keep the camera but want a discount that reflects its open box state? Do you want to return or exchange the camera? What do you want them to do? Have that clearly expressed in the letter/email. - Spidra Webster

or maybe when no one was listening Jones was the one outlet he had and he used it. Monckton is rather new to my sphere. I will look into it. - NoahDavidSimon
he does have the bug eyes... but I like a man that holds true to his values. I still am not sure if I would compare a rude interruption to nazis, but I can see how they simply were irksome pricks that got his goat. those kids don't have a government warrant to interupt political dissent... maybe he went a little too far with that metaphor... but then again he was on his own being taunted by the worst form of trolling social ankle biters. - NoahDavidSimon
also I have to have respect for the guy because it really did seem for years like you could not question global warming till this guy started questioning it. - NoahDavidSimon
it really is a matter of proportion. I'm not a Godwin's law absolutist. I've seen so much abuse in metaphors and rejecting the metaphor. perhaps it's ok to embellish a situation however. perhaps nothing really ever captures the Holocaust's patterns. it's ok with me if Monckton wants to go over the top. it's fine. I'm not offended. there is very little in history that can ever compare... more... - NoahDavidSimon

CBC News - Venetians hold funeral march to mark population decline
"Historic Venice is approaching the dread status of living museum, with a population now below 60,000 — a largely symbolic threshold considered by some to signal the end of the city's viability. As native Venetians flee in droves to the mainland for cheaper housing and easier living, those who have stayed marked their modern-day demise with a mock funeral procession Saturday down the Grand Canal." - Michael Forian from Bookmarklet
Why would 60,000 mark the end of its viability? That's still pretty large. - John (bird whisperer)
They're grandstanding I guess? - Mitch
60,000 is a large number, unless you consider the infrastructure of the city itself. Built to support a much larger population and with some pretty unique requirements, it takes a lot of full time residents to keep a place like that going - esp. when abandoned buildings have to be kept up, or they'll cause their neighborhood to sink. - Jennifer Dittrich
I really don't know why it's 60,000... makes me think back to that Muslim Demographics video where they said that any country's population with less than a 2.1% fertility rate is totally screwed. - Michael Forian

I am! I am! The thought of people questioning my presence as a critique, because of my nationality, of American politicians did cross my mind while creating the channel (to be honest, I was thinking of doing a mix of Canadian/American politics). US politics are infinitely more interesting when compared to Canadian parliamentarian politics! We have 4 dumb major parties (one of which is only there to strive for Quebec sovereignty) that bicker all day long, form coalitions, end coalitions and get literally nothing done. The last time I was interested in Canadian politics was a few weeks back when a pro-climate change protestor got into Parliament and yelled at the members of parliament. I laughed. - Michael Forian

Number of U.S. Troops in Afghanistan Overlooks Thousands of Support Troops - washingtonpost.com
"President Obama announced in March that he would be sending 21,000 additional troops to Afghanistan. But in an unannounced move, the White House has also authorized -- and the Pentagon is deploying -- at least 13,000 troops beyond that number, according to defense officials. The additional troops are primarily support forces, including engineers, medical personnel, intelligence experts and military police. Their deployment has received little mention by officials at the Pentagon and the White House, who have spoken more publicly about the combat troops who have been sent to Afghanistan." - Michael Forian from Bookmarklet

Two weeks into his presidency, they nominated him for it and said, “oh this is going to be a slam dunk.” Because of the Tea Party goers and the 9-12 Project people that stood in his way and stopped him from accomplishing the things that he thought, “please, I’m the Messiah, I’ll be able to accomplish that.”" - Steven Perez from Bookmarklet
Well, now we know who took Rush's Oxy stash. - Steven Perez
Well, Beckie, you should be euthanized ... we can't have it all, can we?! - Rene, Pro Button Pusher
Stupid. While I DO happen to believe that Obama should turn down the prize, it should DEFINITELY NOT go to anything related to Beck. The Nobel Foundation should have waited until the end of his first term to give it to Obama, giving it to him now is pointless. - Michael Forian
Whatever Beck's been smoking, I'd love a hit of it. - Chris Charabaruk
Pardon my saying it but Beck is a fucking moron. He's just pissed because HE wasn't nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. - Prosey BUTTONS!
I'm sure the Nobel Committee can come up with a prize for Douchebag of the Year ... - Rene, Pro Button Pusher
Beck doesn't realize that Europeans find him and the people who listen to him to be complete and ignorant fools. Of course he knows this, because his viewer base is completely ignorant of that fact as well. - Rene, Pro Button Pusher
It should go to the Rush/Beck combo. Did you read Rush Limpball's response to this? Gawd, the neocons are frothing like rabid dogs over this. - Prosey BUTTONS!
Yup, I did. It's true what Rachel Maddow said yesterday: after trying to impeach Obama there is nothing left for the fringers to do. Well, other than actually kill him. - Rene, Pro Button Pusher

Even I think it's stupid that Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. Why? Maybe if he BROUGHT HOME THE TROOPS! That's somewhat peaceful? :)
As @alansmurray said: "Nobel goes to 'person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations ....' shall have done". The award is for accomplishments, not intentions. - Michael Forian

Most likely. We should ask Forian what the Ukrainian part of his heritage was doing to Jews in Ukraine in 1941, shouldn't we? - George Hall (Australia)
I think it might be a good idea. hey @FORIAN? - NoahDavidSimon
I once knew a girl who claimed to be part-Ukrainian...turns out her dad, supposedly Ukrainian, was hiding a WWII real identity as an escaped war criminal. Forian saying his dad was part-Ukrainian now really makes me wonder if the same applies in Forian's dad's case. - George Hall (Australia)
You guys are fun. Believe it or not, the Polish side of my family brought my father's family from Ukraine to Canada pre-WWII. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for my Polish great-grandfather :-) - Michael Forian
