I like it, but only in theory. I think carrying these around with me is simply too much hassle. Are the magnets strong enough to attach through my swanky leather case?
- Fox Tucker
Yahoo's doing lots of useful stuff lately. But I don't feel comfortable building on, say, YQL, without knowing Yahoo will exist next year. :-/
- Jeremy Dunck
Been playing around with this. Some nice components to aggregate a bunch of the social nets and easily update. Not completely sold yet.

last.fm is still my favorite. but i use blip.fm and hypem.com as well and scrobble to last.fm. in fact i use anything that will scrobble to last.fm.
- Lynne d Johnson
ok, who actually uses this? And can you please explain how it actually works...Do you have to type in what you're actually listening to??
- Zee.
Zee - I use blip nearly every day. It's awesome. It integrates seeqpod (I think) and you "blip" (like tweet) songs with a little message too. The interface lets you listen to all tracks in a similar way to favtape.
- Matt Harwood
Last.fm is my favorite for keeping track of my friends' listening habits, music discovery and listening to internet radio, but I love blip.fm for giving me a way to tweet and ff out what i'm listening to and to instantly hear what my friends are listening to.
- Mattie Kenny
Last.fm tracks my listening habits. blip.fm allows me to pull up any song I'm thinking of and post it somewhere. You can also create a playlist. And it all (for the most part) can be made part of your last.fm stats via the aforementioned scrobbling functions.
- Helen Sventitsky
before blip.fm i used twittytunes (i still use it), it's a firefox addon. while i'm listening to itunes and scrobbling to last.fm, i can send a tweet of what i'm listening to with twittytunes. i think bc of this blip.fm hasn't wowed me yet, other than being able to listen to friends' playlists.
- Lynne d Johnson
Lynne - I used to use twittytunes but then when I upgraded my FF, the plugin didn't work anymore and I never bothered to add it. You bring up a very good point.
- Mattie Kenny
I like Blip, but haven't been as active on it as I used to be. I would lose followers whenever I blipped more than 3 times in a day. They need to beef up their selection. You used to be able to add your own stuff easily, but there are restrictions now.
- Bryan R. Adams
Have to say that Twisten.fm works a bit better in some aspects.
- "Jazzperous" Isaksson
Could you elaborate Jeppe? Blip is just a search engine. None of the music resides on their servers, it just streams MP3 it finds on the net. Some (many?) of those servers are not very reliable.
- Jared B. Luther
I find it *really* annoying that the page has to reload when moving between screens on Safari. This makes you lose the focus on the article you are reading on Google Reader thus making it impossible to share an item before you read the original article.
of course I meant "impossible to share an item *after* you read the original article": the article will not show up on GR once you go back to your reading list, because it is already "marked as read"
- santiromero
Have you tried getting Byline app and then using that to star/share items before you read them in Safari? You can read almost everything in Byline so u don't need to switch between the two.
- Amani
@Amani yes I actually like Byline very much. However syncing takes a while sometimes (I've got 500+ feeds), so I keep coming back to GR...
- santiromero
Doppler is another OK app for feeds. Worth checking out - Henrik

LOL - The 'auto refresh' problem is the single biggest complaint I get from users of my iPhone adult site at xratedmob.com - Seriously! I get at least 20 emails a week from users telling me to fix it.
- Fox Tucker
I fully agree with the original point, not because of Google Reader, but because of how it affects my FF reading when I use Tabulate.
- MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
Whatever you do, though, don't go thinking this is SimCity Lite. This mobile version is fully featured, with pre-built cities, accountant recommendations, water pipes, natural disasters, etc. The works. [Pinching] in as close as you can on the 2D sprites reveals intricate details, such a smoke emitting from towers, or shading alongside the buildings. Overall, a really nice graphical presentation that compares similarly to SimCity 3000.

I wish the app would just come out already. Since first hearing about the app I check 2 times a day on the apple app store. I search the net for stories about it. I really want this app!!!!
- Colide81 (James)
@Colide81 Appshopper has a handy feed you can subscribe to for new apps. If you really wanted to get fancy, you could run that through Yahoo Pipes to get an update in your feed reader when the app is released.

The pop-up notification UI is completely obstructive and outdated. Apple's got to change the notification model to mimic the one on Android phones, by using the menu bar and a button to open it like a drawer.
- Dudu P
agree Android does this better than iPhone. so does Windows Mobile and S60. it's a definite weak spot, although those aren't as nifty as Android.
- Jon Price
A nice feature if they increase battery life to compensate.
- Fox Tucker
Yeah I agree, why? It's easy enough to push the home button if I want to see the time, mail etc. Seems like a battery waster. Aren't there better features they could/should be working on instead?
- Jon West
Jon, I believe this is just a patent... meaning that they aren't really actively working on this for an near and upcoming iPhone update. There are lots of things Apple has patented that have never seen the light of day yet.
- David Bisset
""That was fast. It's barely Nov. 21 and the iPhone 2.2 update is here, all 246MB of it, as promised. Included in the update, according to the release notes and as we'd heard, are all the new Google Maps features we've been waiting for like Street View (which is so far butter smooth and delicious over Wi-Fi, slightly less magical over 3G), public transit and walking directions, as well as over-the-air podcast downloads, mail enhancements, Safari tweaks, improved sound quality for visual voicemail, fewer dropped calls (again), and more. But you know, not MMS or copy and paste. Grab it now.""

"If you live in the US or Canada, like it or not, your English pretty much sounds the same to the outside world...and the Google iPhone application. Those outside this area have been having less success with the Google iPhone voice recognition application it seems ... at least that's what some of our commenters have said. "

So Jonathon... My very best "cor blimey guvnor" accent just won't cut it? BTW, where the 'eck have you been for the last month?
- Fox Tucker
I think the app was a good test of whether I still have a British accent. As it failed to understand even a basic word like "Pizza" I think I'm still in good shape :)

"Don't hold your breath waiting for the iPhone to support Adobe's Flash software: Apple's terms-of-service agreement prohibits it. Although Adobe says it is working on a version of its popular Flash player for the iPhone, Apple is unlikely ever to permit it to appear in the handset's App Store, no matter how much customers want it."

"I am always amazed at how creative people can be. I mean, there are some people out there saying “I’m gonna create the first iPhone bacon case”, and they actually do it. That’s what German website Dawanda came up with and the good news is it can be yours for the price of 25 Euros."

This is a drawing my 4 year old daughter made after playing Trace on my iPhone. She loves playing this game, and always wants to borrow my phone to play with. It is a game with so many interesting levels. It's got wonderful music too. Here you see a drawing of her playing the game, and she even drew her finger.

Although I'm sure I'll love this feature, it's too bad a 3rd party app had to be sacrificed to make it happen.
- Ryan Twomey
I'd rather see this being developed by in-house by Apple, than by a third party.

"You’ve proved to those thugs in San Andreas and Liberty City you’re the baddest crime lord there is, and now you want to prove your worth in the mobile world, too? An upcoming game for iPhone called DrugLords might be right up your alley."

Reminds me of great game I played years ago called dopewars. It was fun. However, I'm not convinced that Apple will be happy to roll this out through iTunes.

"LockDockBar is an application that displays 4 icons on your locked screen: SMS, Calls, Emails, Calendar. The app displays the notification badges for each app so if for example you have a new email, you will see this notification next to the email icon. From there, instead of unlocking the phone and launching the mail app, you simply tap the mail icon from your lock screen and it takes you there directly."

One unpublicized feature introduced by Apple's latest iPhone software updates is the ability to save Web apps to the home screen and have them launch in full-screen mode without the Safari wrapper, essentially mimicking the experience of a native app.
