We Are Still In the Blogging 1.0 Cycle - http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r...
Makes a good point when he points out once you let go of the words, any conversation about them is out of your control. Still, from the reader's viewpoint, it would be nice to have an easy way to aggregate the conversation instead of having to chase it to many different sites. - Tom Landini
@Tom Landini, I'm not yet convinced that the readers care about the comment fragmentation at all, let alone as much as the blog owners. And even less convinced once you get outside the realm of blogs focusing on tech early adopters. - Robert Seidman
@Robert Seidman Maybe I should have said "a reader's point of view," namely my own. I was thinking of it more like reactions to public speaking, particularly the political kind. If a politician speaks on something you care about passionately, then you'll likely want to chase the conversation around it. - Tom Landini
Closer to home here in FriendFeed, comments about a particular blog post (or whatever) get fragmented when different FFers share it. Are we commenting on the original post or the sharing of that post? - Tom Landini
@Tom, but we're already very different than most readers: we read blog comments, and (many of us) write blog comments. Most "readers" do not. There are a ton of stats out there on that, it's not even up for question. - Robert Seidman
@Robert OK, I'll buy that "readers" (whoever that is) don't participate in the conversation. And, clever tech-oriented person that I am ;), I can probably figure out how to see what I want to see. For example, if I wanted to see the conversation around Frederic's post here on FF, I can use the search: who:everyone "We Are Still in the Blogging 1.0 cycle" - Tom Landini
This conversation isn't FriendFeed fragmented....yet! BTW, I'm not being a stickler, I'm just bringing up readers because Frederic's post references Duncan's post on the importance of focusing on readers. - Robert Seidman
Am I the only one that constantly wonders who Mr. Lardinois is? I only know one brand attached to the Last Podcast, and that's Frederic. Keep wondering who that other dude is ;-) - Alexander van Elsas
Must be some French dude who hacked into my accounts... :) - Frederic
Qui êtes-vous???? ;-) - Alexander van Elsas
