DO ANYBODY NO if it is possible to access the complete tweet history of a user, beyond 3200 tweets?
question.png
I have volunteered for the task of archiving the complete tweet history of the top 1000 for historical preservation purposes and some twitter users have just talked way to much, and I seem to only be able to get their last 3200 tweets. Is there any way around this? - April Russo (app103)

Does anyone know of a desktop blog editor for Windows that supports uploading files & images by FTPES (my new web host requires this) and works with both Wordpress & Blogger?

You know, some us us have been asking Microsoft for a couple of years to get on with supporting SFTP or SCP. I'm not sure why they haven't listened, yet. I guess they don't take enough hits over security concerns. - MiniMage, sheeple of FF

CHART OF THE DAY: Silicon Valley Unemployment Skyrockets (> 12%) by @WSJ @alleyinsider @chartoftheday ~ YIKES ! ~ #Jobs
"Unemployment in the Valley is now higher than it was after the dotcom bust. ? - Can anyone tell me why the search results in Google vs Bing are completely different? My websites show up in Google search, but not in Bing search. Why is there a difference? I'm completely confused by the differences.
Most likely the way Google and Bing indexes and ranks your webpage is different - not sure what kind of algorithm bing uses but google uses a modified page rank algorithm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... that has been tweaked over the years - Wang Yip
Uses different algorithms, I'll link you to something that might help you - Holden Page
Thank you so much for this info!! I'm really clueless on these things! - Jannifer @wordsforliving
Another question - should I worry about not showing up in Bing? Does it matter? - Jannifer @wordsforliving
You shouldn't worry for now. This is just some preparations. If in a good 3 or 4 months your still not showing up and Bing is still growing you might want to take a look at what is wrong. Otherwise, no worries. - Holden Page
Also, the results in google search seem to change more rapidly now. Since I'm clueless, there's no rhyme or reason to it. About 6 months ago or more, I pretty much dominated the first couple of pages in search results. Now there's a lot more competition and I've dropped down considerably even though I'm the most active person in the business as far as using social media. - Jannifer @wordsforliving
Jannifer: You would have to ask an SEO expert. I don't know the ways of the Google Gods lol - Holden Page
They will NEVER provide the same results...if they did, we would only need one. ;o) - Rob Sellen :o)

Anybody know anything about MerchantCircle.com? I'm having some confusion and uncertainty about how that company deals with their member accounts. I'd like Feedback & chat with someone other than a company Rep.

They offer I guess an online presence for businesses where a business can have a website, offer coupons and such. They have "free" account options but it doesn't seem to be really "free" if that makes sense.. - Jannifer @wordsforliving
However, it's catching my attention because I'm noticing how a few people who are NOT active online in social media (like twitter, friendfeed, etc.) but only have a MerchantCircle website and one person in particular is ranked #1 in Google search results. Is there a commercial/research photographer here that would possibly help with write a covering letter and perhaps amend my CV to apply for this research photographer role please?: http://jobview.monster.co.uk/GetJob... :-)
My CV is here: http://www.linkedin.com/in... and basically I have no professional photography experience to put on my CV so I guess a very good covering letter is needed? - Kol Tregaskes
I *really* want this job though. This sounds ideal!! A job I certainly would enjoy; travelling around London AND taking photographs. It honestly sounds bliss to me. - Kol Tregaskes
The only thing in my favour is my photography site: http://squashyfrog.com/, my Flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos... and that I've been around a lot of London photographing it already (be it more in a tourist kinda way): http://www.flickr.com/photos... - Kol Tregaskes
I don't have much to say on this, but I think the key requirement is not your photographing skills, but more your ability to edit and present photos. These guys produce brochures and you need to be able to help them with that. If you can show this in your CV, your coverletter, or through real-life examples (e.g. study some real-estate photos, make a brochure, and send it to them), then I think your chances are good. - Vincent van Wylick
Thanks, Vincent. Yes, very good point. - Kol Tregaskes
Kol - in the requirements, it says NOTHING about having prior experience as a photographer. So I agree with Vincent. Prove that you are right for the job by demonstrating the skills they do require in your CV and elsewhere. Do some research, find out what commercial photography is all about and go take some pictures, edit them and post them on a separate website just for sharing with the hiring manager of this position. Good luck! - Justin Korn
Thanks, Justin. - Kol Tregaskes

I'm trying to get team members to join FriendFeed as the MAIN collaboration and communication platform for us to use to run our Independent businesses, but I'm just not having luck getting the people here who would benefit tremendously by being here. Any ideas on how I can overcome this obstacle?
Not sure if you got the answer you were looking for but my business partners and I at the Secret Women's Business Network ( http://www.swbnetwork.com/blog... ) use FriendFeed as a collaboration tool as we are on three different continents. Evernote - Is a Premium account worth it or needed to make it truly useful?
I'm analyzing apps to help me get organized and reduce paper clutter. Any thoughts on Evernote vs. Springpad and/or if a Premium acct. is needed to make it truly useful. - Jannifer @wordsforliving from Bookmarklet
I have used the free account for some time and like it quite a bit. - Rob Michael (Atmos Trio)
I personally do a lot of note taking and document archiving in a month. Since I have such a high amount of traffic I pay for the service. - CW™
I'm wanting to utilize some sort of document archiving. I'm horrible with keeping track of papers, which get misplaced, etc. Preferably I'd like to scan documents directly into an online app. rather than storing them on my computer first and then uploading them, but I don't know if that's something that's even possible. - Jannifer @wordsforliving
I do that with iPhone (or any digital camera) and send to Evernote via email or iPhone app. - Rob Michael (Atmos Trio)

I don't have an iPhone - wondering if it would still benefit me as much since I don't have one. - Jannifer @wordsforliving
I just upgraded to premium. The cost to do so is minimal, and with the premium account, I can now import any type of file. That's big for me in business: Word, Excel & PPT files I get from colleagues can now be input and accessed through Evernote. I love it. - eEditor
eEditor - can you also import MP3 files (not music, but educational lectures)? - Jannifer @wordsforliving
I've started using Evernote and LOVE it so far! - Jannifer @wordsforliving
I love Evernote but haven't yet hit the limit on uploads (so far, I mostly use it for bookmarking online and tagging things to read or do in the future). I plan to upgrade to premium anyway just because I think it's a wonderful service and I want to support it, especially as I branch out and use more of the features. - joey
Also, they use FriendFeed: https://friendfeed.com/evernot... - joey
Don't have a premium account, but should. I use it a lot with my WinMo - ‘-.-’ Tutivillus Grift
I compared Evernote to Springpad. Springpad is pretty cool, but it's buggy and has enough complaints on their Get Satisfaction website to cause me to shove that one to the background at least for now. I discovered that I could use Evernote with Skitch to take screen shots, then organize them into Evernote. This keeps me from having to save too many .jpg files onto my laptop. - Jannifer @wordsforliving
I use Evernote a lot, but the free version is enough for me for now. It's kind of a chicken-and-egg thing. I don't want to invest too much of my note-taking with them, given that they are a small company and who knows how long they'll be in business. But if most people think like me and opt for the free version, then they'll probably won't survive. - Andre P. Siregar
That's what concerns me - whether a company is going to be able to stick around. That's why I didn't want to invest too much into Springpad. All of these companies sinking makes one hesitant. If it continues to prove valuable, I would upgrade to the premium account. - Jannifer @wordsforliving

Start a new service and send the correct command to itunes so they read the new source?? - Amani
# You should use the <itunes:new-feed-url> tag described in the iTunes RSS Tags section below. The tag will cause the iTunes Store to be updated with the new feed URL, as well as all iTunes client versions that support podcasting. # You should set your web server to return an HTTP 301 response and redirect when receiving a request for the old feed. Doing so will cause both the iTunes Store and the most (but not all) iTunes clients that have subscribed to your podcast to pick up the new feed URL. - Amani

Tech people help: Need to transfer 20gig of files from a PC to a Mac. We have a Mac-formatted external HD that the PC won't read. We have a network, but the Mac will only see the other Macs on the network but not the PCs. We have to get this done by tomorrow. Any ideas?
Upload to Amazon S3, Download to Mac? Install DAVE, the software that lets Macs see PCs on a network, if you have a copy? Those are my not-too-technical ideas. My Macs haven't had issues seeing PCs on my network yet, so... - Leslie Poston
I thought of the upload / download thing, but doing that with 20gig would take a prohibitively long time, wouldn't it? My knowledge of networking is nil. - Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
I'm fairly certain you can setup network file sharing between the PC and Mac. I'll look around for a how to - Eric @ CS Techcast
I thought Macs were supposed to see PCs fairly easily. (But come to think of it, that's only in a home networking context.) - Andrew C
http://lifehacker.com/softwar... In Windows you can search help for file sharing, setup the share from the folder where the files are located, or just share out the whole drive. Turn on Windows File Sharing on the Mac. Adding this link: http://lifehacker.com/softwar.... From PC to mac shouldn't require anything but the share on the Windows machine. - Eric @ CS Techcast
Ya you should be able to connect to a Windows share through SMB. Or you can try installing Windows Live Sync on both machines.. Or burn DVD's. - Rodfather
I think Live Sync would take forever to get to the cloud and back again. A straight transfer over the network is best. DVD would be fine too if all else fails - Eric @ CS Techcast
Thanks, Eric. Maybe the file sharing settings aren't right? We'll check. And yeah, DVD / FTP is our backup, but if we can get them to see each other on the network it'd be SO much faster and easier. Boss just told us to work on it tomorrow morning, though. I'll make sure to bring up the suggestions. :) Thanks for the quick replies! - Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
If you can't resolve the file sharing/permissions stuff, you might try just firing up an FTP server on the Windows box ala http://filezilla-project.org/ - Ken Sheppardson
One thing that can cause many fire sharing headaches is a software firewall. Disable any firewall on the Windows PC to ensure the Mac can query for it properly. - Eric @ CS Techcast
I believe Live Sync will use the local network for transferring to each other. It uses the cloud for authentication. - Rodfather
Turn on file sharing on mac, then hit the option/advanced button and turn on SMB sharing. Shows up in network places - mjc
Format the external drive as a PC drive (Fat32). The Mac can read it. - Cristo
Can't reformat the drive. It's one of our personal ones that's got stuff on it. That was my first suggestion, too. :) - Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
on the same network, you only ever need to use file sharing. If you see the machine name of the windows PC on the mac, click on it then click on the "connect as" button in the top right. Enter the logon details you use to access your windows box and voila, access. - alphaxion
Jandy, well you could always copy that stuff somewhere else first, right? - Cristo
Filezilla or another FTP server could probably be up and running on the Windows box in 5 minutes or so. - Ken Sheppardson
Yeah, we can set up an FTP server no problem. That's what we'll do if we can't get the file sharing to work tomorrow. Turns out the person who needed the Mac tomorrow now doesn't need it for at least another day, so the pressure's off a bit. - Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
I use FTP directly between Mac and PC without a server, just the old school wsftp on the PC and the built in Mac function under file sharing. And if this is what someone has already suggested, then you all know exactly how much of a FF nOOb I am. ;-) - Holly Rae, FFer
GetDropBox.com - Ladybug Heather
Use SMB. Finder - Go > Connect to server > smb://<ip of computer> Should give you access to the PCs shared folder. I always use a crossover cable I made for stuff like this. Just connect the two, set manual IPs and connect using SMB. - Brandon Titus
I had a similar problem between my vista install and my Mac. Neither would see one another. I ended up setting up the drop box on the mac and creating a network location manually on the Vista machine that pointed to it using the IP address of the Mac. They still couldnt read each other but I was able to just dump stuff on the mac. I'm sorry I wish I had better instructions but it has been so long I don't remember the fine details. - Geoff Schultz
I see a lot of people have already suggested FTP. I agree that is probably the simplest solution to implement as long as the network connection between the two machines is solid. SMB file sharing would be a great deal faster. I would spend an hour trying to get SMB working. If you can't get an SMB connection setup in hour then use FTP. - Kevin D. White
Another option would be to run out and buy another 20GB+ external drive, format it FAT32, and hook it up to the Mac along with the source drive. Copy the data from the source drive to the new one, disconnect, and reconnect to the PC. - Kevin D. White
So, what is the final result ? - François Granger
Oh, they got it moved over the next day - I told them about the file sharing thing, but I don't know if they were able to get it to work that way or had to use FTP. In any case, we had longer than we originally thought to get it done, so it worked out. Thanks everyone! - Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
