1. Small user icon next to every post. The visual cue would really help.

hahahaha Peter, apt and succinct. But yes I disagree on both. I'd like to check out AJ Barac's cleaner friend feed but I only use Chrome now.

Clearly, all opinions are valid, they are opinions after all... but can you state your reasons why you don't like these?

Yup sorry bout that, there is already an icon next to each post. And RE the scrolling, you would prefer a cluttered and busy friend feed?

I can grok an avatar faster than I can grok a textual name - two little icons would tell me Who and What instantly. Plus, yes, I'd give up some white space for higher information density. For me, it's all about efficiency of scanning the feed.

I'm quite happy the way it is. To have an option to use the full width of your window would be nice but it's not a biggie.
