FF Group Suggestion: Suggestions for groups in the new FriendFeed UI: #betakoltaglist
1. Ability to delete groups. - Kol Tregaskes
2. Ability for admins to DM members, e.g. group announcements: http://beta.friendfeed.com/friendf... - Kol Tregaskes
3. Sticky posts that permanently stick to the top of the feed: http://beta.friendfeed.com/friendf... - Kol Tregaskes
4. Ability to lock comments on selective posts, useful for potential sticky posts: http://beta.friendfeed.com/friendf... - Kol Tregaskes
I still don't understand what rooms, groups etc. are supposed to be or how they differ from feeds. - Karl Knechtel
Karl, everything is a feed, so groups = feeds - "groups" (new UI) used to be "rooms" (old UI). Does that help? - Kol Tregaskes
5. Easy inviting system should be a similar screen to the one we have for selecting what Subscriptions to show on your sidebar. - Kol Tregaskes
6. Notifications for group membership changes and list of groups we admin on the Subscription page: http://beta.friendfeed.com/friendf... - Kol Tregaskes
Great suggestions. This is one of the big things that bugs me about the beta UI. - Jen (SquirrelGirl)
Some good ideas here. Especially the stickies and invitations. Locking could well apply system-wide (i.e. in any feed). - Karl Knechtel
Sure, possibly. - Kol Tregaskes
7. Email notifications for groups (could help migrate users used to mailing list groups like Yahoo Groups: http://friendfeed.com/friendf... - Kol Tregaskes
8. The group description, name and username should be saved when you click to add services or change the group's picture. At the moment changes are lost. A warning should appear at least. Having them save would mean you wouldn't have to go into the group settings page twice, for example, to add a description and a service upon creating a new group. - Kol Tregaskes
I'm very picky about my urls, if I create a private group, can the url be "http://friendfeed.com/hoopsom..." ? Ultimately I'd like to be able to "tag" content and then look at all content I've tagged or labled by going to a specific url under my username. groups are more powerful than tags because I can auto-populate them in lots of interesting ways. I think of tags as a generalization of "like" I don't want to say that I like something just because I want to be able to find it later. - Hoop
Hoop, no to the URL, groups are in the format: http://friendfeed.com/<groupname>. As for tagging, yep, simply add a # before a word and that turns into a link to the search for that word, e.g. #FriendFeed or for all my suggestions and bugs posts like this use #betakoltaglist - Kol Tregaskes
How about "liking comments"...like the ones on this post? Could be a nightmare for FF coders... - Mitchell Tsai
