There should be some sort of ceremony for those who leave FF. Not so much for them, but for those who are left behind. I'll bring the vegetable plate.
- Todd Hoff
I call the potato salad ! :) I liked his non-zen comments. And also that I got some crazy zen pushed on me from time to time.
- Thomas Bøhm
Perhaps he felt that Friendfeed was a drag on getting any serious work done. There is an enormous downside to social media in terms of wasting time and energy. All the jibber jabber.
- Sean McBride
Still that doesn't mean you can't follow him on twitter!! ;)
- Paul
Whilst we had our fraught moments, and his thinking can appear irrelevant, I found him to be a challenging and interesting adversary, worthy of respect.
- Slappy Line
That is sad. Greg had an interesting slant on things - I could grok his feed.
- Chris Loft
Lent was smarter than many of the people he interacted with here, which tended to provoke his annoyance. FF will be not be nearly as interesting without his posts.
- Sean McBride
is this the hippy guy? yeah "interesting" slant...he always had a more "zen" than though attitude that was condescending
- sofarsoShawn
Bummer. I enjoyed that he always had something to say. Will miss him.
- DeWitt Clinton
No, not "hippy." Much too hard-headed and hard-edged to be "hippy." Big picture guy, with a grounding in Eastern metaphysics.
- Sean McBride
Looks like his twitter account is kapoofers now, too.
- Alix Whitmire
I enjoyed a lot of what he had to say, but Gregory did appear to be getting increasingly frustrated (and cantankerous) over the last month or so. I'm sorry he left, and I hope he finds the joy he is looking for.
- Ladybug Heather
Twitter feed is actually still there, just protected.
- Roberto Bonini
Thank you, Heather... that is what I was thinking but couldn't find the way to say it.
- Yolanda
@Jason. Can't get it either now. Quite strange - was getting it half an hour ago.
- Roberto Bonini
Oh man, I liked the guy. We rarely saw eye to eye, but I'm not so full of myself that I can't see that people have different perspectives and that's "ok".
- Derrick
Not on FF, not on Twitter... I hope he enjoys where ever life takes him. I wish you well Gregory.
- Ken Stewart | ChangeForge
Someone with his email address should try to confirm that he is actually ok.
- Sean McBride
I'm with Zee. I blocked him a long time ago.
- Paul Reynolds
Yeah, he had the distinction of being pretty widely blocked.
- j1m
He is making a statement to us about the impermanence of all things.
- Robin Barooah
If anything, this is an interesting experiment on how thoroughly someone can erase themselves on FF and Twitter. Here on FF there's nary a trace except people's reply comments to him.
- Phil G
Wow! I liked his interesting, albeit heady, questions... Sad he left!
- Susan Beebe
Not completely in agreeance with Zee, but certainly there were times where I nearly went the ban. Some days he'd be great value, other days overboard. Hot and cold. Still, sad to see anyone quit, and I do wish him well.
- Duncan Riley
Being able to see the big picture without being firmly grounded has a tendency to make one more and more disillusioned - especially if you have not yet realized the futility of debating with black and white thinkers and those whose perspectives are vastly different than his. Perhaps he'll decide to come back; perhaps not.
- Internet Strategist
Yep. He's back!!!!!! On twitter, that is.
- Roberto Bonini
I thought his stuff was good -- reliably ornery, sometimes grumpy, heavy on the US criticism, but it's all good -- we need you back GL -- ok I'll speak for myself, I hope you come back :)
- Christopher Galtenberg
I miss him too, there was always something in his feed or comments that was truly worth reading. At least the spark of an interesting observation or idea if not a full blown one. I was actually in the middle of replying to a post when he deleted the account.
- xero
Meh. After watching him engage in a long comment debate about the auto industry only to go back and delete each and every one of those comments 30 min later so that it appeared the person was ranting to themselves, I lost a huge measure of respect for Gregory Lent. He showed poor form, poor taste, and a lack of respect not just for the person he was debating but for the concept of civilized debate altogether.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Looks like he has a private FriendFeed now. He was deep which is what is what I really like about him. I can skim almost every comment except his, sometimes I bookmark them for reading later. He is temperamental, but I could live with that. ++Derrick and ++Heather.
- vijay
"After watching him engage in a long comment debate about the auto industry..." Oh yeah... I remember him now. Name didn't ring a bell, but I do remember chatting RE the auto industry. Anyway, looks like either he's back or somebody else grabbed the name. No idea why somebody'd do that. Maybe a different gregorylent. Seems like this is Important to some folks: http://friendfeed.com/gregory...
