photography app question: mac-friendly programs to convert batches of photos into a size/format appropriate for web?
Hey Polly, if you have 10.4 or 10.5, you can use automator: http://twurl.nl/i4h46o - Mark Trapp
thank you. my sister is needing the help. :) - edythe
Ah okay; let me know how she makes out! You can also do batch conversions with Adobe Creative Suite, but that's an expensive proposition. - Mark Trapp
mark: well...i got an e-mail from her a little bit ago the sole content of which was: "Thank you for the suggestions. I am sure I will figure something out. Batch scripts..." LOL she's not too experienced with things like that. i should do it myself to see exactly how it works and then maybe e-mail her instructions... - edythe
I think the name script throws it off (the instructions are pretty straightforward), but there's a way to package Automator scripts into a ready-to-use program. You could go through and make the script, and then when you go to save it, choose "Application" instead of workflow. Then all she needs to do is drag the images onto the application and it'll do it automatically. Heck if you want, I could probably create an app and put it up online: give me a few minutes. :) - Mark Trapp
Oh, one question though: is she on 10.4 or 10.5? - Mark Trapp
Actually, this should work in either: http://marktrapp.com/project... - Mark Trapp
oh, mark! that was so, so nice of you! wow. :) thank you, thank you! - edythe
Oh don't mention it :P Hopefully it works and does what she wanted to do! - Mark Trapp
:) :) ok, she is downloading it now. (she is dubious, but that is simply because she is used to these things being very complicated and I don't think she wants to get her hopes up.) - edythe
Understandable :) One thing I forgot to mention: keep the originals somewhere else, off the desktop (like in another folder): it won't replace any photos on the desktop (because that's where the converted ones are going). - Mark Trapp
