"Dude. Relax. Take a breather. Granted, "So if its expanding and contracting, whats on the other side?" is a silly (or at least nonsensical) question. But there's no need to pick on good ol' Socrates."

"Wait. Why is that that you think that if the universe is expanding at an increasing rate, that it will never contract? Care to justify that? Logically or otherwise?"

"Actually, the DV problem is *very* annoying. I do some video skits with friends. We typically shoot with a Canon GL1. When we first started shooting, I assumed that I could just take the tape home, pop it into my little $300 Panasonic DV cam and capture it with my Mac. It was a disaster. I don't know much about the various audio formats being used for DV, but it simply didn't work. So now I pretty much have the Canon at my place all the time, and the owner of it basically has to borrow his own cam from me. It's ridiculous. A VHS tape recorded in one camcorder will play in another. Why can't the same be true for DV? I understand the need for competing formats, but as far as I can see there is no good reason for this problem. 16-bit audio is 16-bit audio. Companies sure don't advertise their incompatibility."

"Hey kids -- nowhere in the article is Pirate Bay mentioned. It sounds like they're going after *individuals* who share files. It did say Sweden, but Sweden != Pirate Bay."

""His comment, 'and they've given them permission to go down and shoot us.' Has nothing to do with the 'media' and how they are or are not characterizing the violence." I agree -- but we'll see how this story gets told. I think he's mostly frustrated with the fact that this is being portrayed as black violence. It's not on the black community's head to denounce what often happens in situations like this. A huge portion of the population in New Orleans is black. This is just statistics. Stop calling on ethnic groups to apologize for something they need not apologize for. He's upset because this is being characterized as black violence. Look at how it is being framed already: http://www.davidduke.com/index... Granted, that's from David F*$ Duke's website, and is an extreme example. But people are saying this stuff."
