Though Leo Laporte "liked" this bit of news, he has to be at least somewhat jealous as well. Adam would make a great guest anywhere he was willing to sit down and the TWIT network would be a great forum. - JR Holmes

iPhone Dev-Team: Mac OS X 10.5.7 Safe for Jailbreak, Fixes DFU Bug
This is good to know. I've been putting off updating since they said updating quicktime and iTunes made everything harder. Now i can take the step to 10.5.7 and get everything else up to date :) - Simon Wicks from Bookmarklet
Of course this all changes when OS 3.0 comes out. Really not looking forward to having to re-jailbreak. - Drew Lucas from BuddyFeed
They've said that Apple can't really do anything to put a major stop on 3 being jailbroken though, it will take new hardware to stop it being done. - Simon Wicks from email
Finally! - Luka
This doesnt mean they are releaseing a new verion of their tools right now. They are still going to wait untill 3 is actually out. - Simon Wicks

Macworld reviews BuddyFeed 2.0 - FriendFeed client for the iPhone
Hey I'm the first one in that pic! w00t! - C. K. Sample III
Please can we get this for Blackberry! - Ms_Krista
I far prefer Friendfeed's own iPhone-compatible web page. You can do likes in place, you see comments inline, it just works better than BuddyFeed. - Leo Laporte
I got BuddyFeed a few days ago, but have found myself using the /iphone web interface instead just because it requires fewer taps, etc. Neither of them have the equivalent of "My discussions", which is a bummer. - Brett Kelly
as cool as the iphone is I cant get one until they change the keyboard... I use my blackberry for work and I type a lot on it.. u can't really type out long emails with an iphone. - Jason Pollock
@Jason - I've written entire blog posts on my iPhone. It's not too hard once you've had some practice :) - Brett Kelly
Was using MotherFeed and this is much better. Definitely worth the $2.99 price tag. - Chris Sparno from BuddyFeed
I agree with Brett. I took my touch to Europe and conducted 3 weeks worth of business and personal stuff, including blogging, with no issues. The more you use the soft keyboard, the better you'll get. - Stan Augustyniewicz
@Leo I wish these apps cached data. - Steve Rubel
agree with leo - the web interface on the iphone is great - andy brudtkuhl
Cannot complain with the nice web interface. - ashish
I'm using Nambu, not perfect but you have twetter and ff in the same app - David Foucher
Too many taps in BuddyFeed. I'm back in Safari on iPhone FF. - John Francis
I prefer the BuddyFeed interface to Nambu, and since I'm sticking to Tweetie for my Twitter stuff, I'll probably shelve Nambu for now. Yes, the mobile web interface for FF is pretty good, but I really like BuddyFeed's implementation. Certainly don't regret dropping $3 for it. Like most iPhone apps of this kind, I'll use it until it frustrates me or something better comes along. Me likey. - Victor Kamutzki
Off topic, but here's another nod for the iPhone keyboard. I type faster on this than any BB, WinMo, Symbian, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, or dumbphone I've ever owned. Love it. - David Chartier from BuddyFeed

It's a wonderfull time, combination of the inevitability of full realtime and everyone joining the conversation via facebook, Twitter and Friendfeed. - Christian Burns
Coming from CU SeeMe at 160x120 pixel at 10fps over 28.8 kbps dialup to Cisco Telepresence at 1080p at 30fps over 25 Mbps MPLS enabled Metro Ethernet... now when will there be a spigot for the regular home user or real estate to enable this in living rooms, board rooms, and *fear* bathrooms all around the world? Isn't that where it is all heading? - Jay Cuthrell
Steve, your hashtag comments were remarkably prescient. Of course, me being the one who has to actually do something to learn about why you say it's one way or the other, let's just say I did and I learned, well. Welcome back to the puppet, too. - Karoli
For me - far and away, the best post by Steve on TechcrunchIT - Sameer
Track reminds me of Woodstock. The word of mouth so much more interesting than the real thing. - Jim Posner
Woodstock was much more than word of mouth. Those of us who had track in the Sixties will be proven right in a few weeks. - Steve Gillmor
Track to me always seemed like a one trick pony, a short-lived novel feature for the gtalk client with track topics polluted by the rest of the stream. twitter search has the latent unpolluted track stream but not available in the gtalk client. The internet was built on the concept of good enough so it is with track, of course in a few weeks... - Jim Posner
makes no sense, either it's important or it isn't. I say it is, you say potahto - Steve Gillmor
Being able to track is important, being able to do it in the gtalk client not so much. YMMV - Jim Posner
if you have drunk from the fountain you yearn to do it again. it was THE way to keep you from having to subscribe to everybody to find what you wanted. great post. - Sebastian Keil
Sebastian, agree completely. and the net-net has been that now there's some sort of expectation that a reciprocal follow is part of the social contract, which it wouldn't be if we could simply use track. - Karoli
track in the web client is not track. there is no Twitter track except for TwitterSpy and other similarly rate limited 3rd party unsupported and crippled products. gtalk is only the most useful of the released track clients to date, but as with api access doesn't exist. if you want to find out how important track is, just ask Twitter execs when it will be back. The answer: when it's provided by a strong competitor. - Steve Gillmor
ron, no way. you'd have to take mine away too. can't. let. it. happen. ;-) - Karoli
@Steve "The answer: when it's provided by a strong competitor." < Is this your version of the answer or have you heard this stated? - J Allen
The quixotic quest to bring back track reminds me of the book entitled "In Search of Lost Time" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... - Jim Posner
I love that book... - Cliff Gerrish
Jim: What client you use is not important. I use Adium to talk to twitterspy. Your favorite twitter client vendor could ride on twitterspy's infrastructure and present the matches however they see fit. Seesmic did this a while ago with twhirl and identispy. - Dustin Sallings
it's coming back. Facebook went realtime today. Quixotic is creating new windmills. - Steve Gillmor
...and phantasmagorical sightings of track were made in the feature/function flotsam and jetsam which in the end turned out to be low-fi apparitions. - Jim Posner
Jim just can't seem to let this go. Guess we'll just have to keep this going for another couple of weeks. I'm wondering why you have so much invested in the non-existence of track. Reminds me of the RSS is irrelevant argument of days of yore. Was wrong then and wrong now. - Steve Gillmor
re: RSS false analogy...stop me if you've heard this one- there was once a strawman who posed as a ironman... - Jim Posner

What do you think about the new Friendfeed User Interface ? http://twtpoll.com/q68d2y - Yaron Orenstein
Jeremiah Owyang
The problem with this real time feed is the same with Twitter. You have to constantly monitor, and when you're not looking content is gone. The 'pause' button, and "best of day" will be critical in ensuring you're not missing content.
Filters, filters, filters. I predict that in a day or two that will be the big story. The scoped filters make this release really interesting. - Brian Roy
Try lists and filters, does the trick for me. - Mike Reynolds
Filters are great, but take a lot of time to setup - the constantly monitor will be a challenge for a lot of people. - Tony
I kinda got used to "real-time" on Friendfeed by choosing the "real-time" option every so often on the original interface, just going to be a matter of adapting. - Ed Richardson
JustSignal is a solution for all of this. Yay, Brian - Francine Hardaway
Maybe a smart filter creator that works like the suggested people to follow and help you build them out would be a killer feature. - Tony
I think we need some advanced feed settings, so we can set criteria which tells FF or Twitter what we're most interested, and it puts that content (either from specific people or topics) into a cache for us to review at our leisure. - DanielthePoet
rooms + filters - andy brudtkuhl
This isn't that different to Twitter or any other similar service. You have to keep monitoring the stream if you want to stay on top of it all. Being able to pause the stream is handy though. - Paul Jacobson
But JustSignal is going to have to hold more posts - Francine Hardaway
lists, filters, and private feeds - Damian Holmes
As I've said three times, this is good for breaking news, but not for "real" life - Francine Hardaway
you can set keyword search in your filters that may help with not missing something - still tons of room for semantic value there. - Yann Ropars
The problem is, if I want to comment, I have to throw my pebble in Jeremiah's stream, and Robert's, and KSheps, etc. - Francine Hardaway
Francine - Hold more posts? Not sure what that means. - Brian Roy
The "My Discussions" link at the top right is going to save conversations on Friendfeed! (looks like the former "comments and likes" link. Use the "My discussions" link to stay in a conversation. - Susan Beebe
Francine: my real life happens in real time. The thing is this demands total attention. - Robert Scoble
Couldn't agree more. You can't sit watching real-time feeds everywhere, all the time. - Trevor Childs
Robert: That is true but this could really kill productivity so judicious use of the "pause" button or the "close my browser now" button may help at times ... - Paul Jacobson
I wish we could set meta-level EXCLUDE filters. - Mike Reynolds
Robert - yep! - Susan Beebe
I agree 100% great way to follow news but impossible to use without blowing every minute of the day - Todd Cochrane
Filters organize. They don't help for when you step away from your screen for hours or even a day. RSS readers are superb at this. What you need is a product that can offer you the real-time information while you're present but then allow you to totally pause the flow, mark your spot, and start tracking in an "archive" or "offline" mode, allow you to then catch up in a Google Reader/RSS fashion and then resume real-time activities. - Kevin Kuphal

Know what I loathe? "Sista". I'll deal with it from old black men, but anyone else gets The Eyes of Loathing from me. - Admiral Anika
What about 'brother' as in Desmond from LOST? - Jason
New Zealand - Johnny Worthington
What's even worse is when they pronounce "bro" more like "bra." - Joey Gibson
Yeah if you can't say "brotha" or "brotherman" with comfort and finesse, none of the truncations should be attempted either. - Troy
not many surfers in the Urban setting Chris...oh btw yes Eygpt is one country on the Continent of AFRICA !!!! fyi - bcultral
How about Sis? Anika. don't want those eyes rolling..... - bcultral
Nope. If I'm not your blood relative and we ain't in church or the mosque, I don't want to hear it. I especially don't want to hear from people who think they're "down". It's insulting, like they think they know me. - Admiral Anika
I mean, what if you're using it ironically? - Jamelle
I do, but only to my brothers. It's a Chicago thing. - Steven Perez
bra... that grates on me. - mikepk
Cultural sharing is fun! so be cultural! - bcultral

BROSKI!. I dunno, I follow @marvwon and he says bro constantly, it's rubbing off on me. - Richard Lawler
honestly, I'm kind of a fan of "brohem" - Jamelle
So Anika, what works for you? Ms, Mrs, or Anika? I understand being approached by lames trying to be wit it... - bcultral
Graham Wellington. That's who. - Christopher Harley
Add anyone who uses "John Hancock" in place of signature to that list... - xero
Hey Chris, I already did: Egypt is actually a Country on the Continent of Africa! - bcultral
If you are not my blood brother and you call me "Bro", we have a problem. If you pronounce it "Bra" then we REALLY have a problem. I just don't feel like this is a part of slang used by people with any sense in their head (and not for any particular reason) - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
I say Bro to my bro all the time. Cause, yeah, he's my brother... - Patrick from twhirl
Rahsheen, is this a lesson in Ebonics? I get what you are saying...absolutely get it...I even stop using bretheren in reference to my religious affiliates... - bcultral

The word "brother" don't count - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
definitions, definitions...they have meaning! - bcultral
I realized I was starting to age when I hear young folks call each other "Son" and I cannot relate to the description. It seems phony - bcultral
brutha! from anotha mutha! wanna go shoot some hoops!? - sofarsoShawn
Whatever you say homeslice - Rodfather
And keep in mind 1993 is over. 'Bro', 'Bra', 'Brohem'...done. And Chris, I don't recall saying anything about you. I was talking about me and my personal pet peeve. Geez. [shakes head at Rodfather] Homeslice? I haven't heard that one in a long while. My friend *still* uses that and "homeskillet'. - Admiral Anika
"Suspect" means I'm going to have to watch you and make sure you're not a tool. Of course people can say "bro" and still be cool, but the likelihood that you might be a douche skyrockets when you say "bro" or "bra" too much and mean it....especially if you also workout a lot and like to look at yourself in the mirror - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
In Sourthern California it is pretty normal for people to say "bro" - Tony
People who use the "Bra" to refer to dudes are just effing weird and off-putting. People who use "Bra" to refer to dudes in type (forums, and IM) just need to be put away for their and our safety. - Matthew DeVries
Rah, even to my actual brother? ;-) - Kol Tregaskes
Rah, bro...don't diss me like that. I say it all the time. :( - Alex Scoble
I'll just use my standard fallback, "G." As in, "How is it going this fine day, G?" "Hey G, I'm feeling a bit peckish, let's go grab lunch." - Chrimmus Tad
Hahahahahaha sorry bro - J. Abdul-Qahhar
Don't censor me, bro! - Alex Scoble
LOL, like I said. It's not a final judgement. I doubt anyone on here is the type of "bro" user I'm talking about :) - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
I fear that I am, Rahsheen. I use it a lot on IM. - Alex Scoble
Hoops bro, later on, then some of fried chicken? Know what I'm saying hmhmmhmmmm! - sofarsoShawn
LOL@Alex, you have WAY too many active brain cells to qualify. - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
OK, thanks Rah. :) Just be forewarned: if we ever connect via IM, I'll be calling you bro a bit. Cuz that's how I roll. - Alex Scoble
It's all good. :) - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
chill bro chill - James Tenniswood
http://www.averagebro.com/ - ya or nay? (and is "Poppin' Tags" also on the suspect list?) - Micah Wittman
I'll keep trying...bro - sofarsoShawn
It's very interesting how "bro" means so many different things. Haven't done my research, but I think it's an example of slang that was mostly used by blacks and has now been adopted by other cultures. So much so that I can't even imagine anyone I know seriously using it. Maybe if they were talking about their actual brother. Probably depends on where you live, though. - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
suspect about what? - TaaTaa
I hate it though when people say bro, but it sounds like bra - sofarsoShawn
@Anika. Homeskillet haha. That one deserves a comeback too - Rodfather

I'm delighted that I have gotten 30 new followers within the last 8 hours here on FriendFeed. Thanks! But can anyone tell me what I have done recently that motivated you to follow me?

Oh yes, thanks Helen. That reminds me, if you are using firefox, install Greasemonkey (a firefox addon) and this script: http://userscripts.org/scripts... Then go to "better recommended" in your friend settings tab. Very cool. - Phil G

I assume somebody just pimped your account :). Easy, ain't it? - Alex Popescu from twhirl
It happens. It happened to me a couple weeks ago, probably just because I was being particularly prolific with FF posts AND comments. Now, the influx has returned to normal, and I'm down to one or two new subscribers for every 10 or so comments/posts - Slappy Line
i sub'd to you awhile ago philip, because of your comments initially but also because you live in austin and used to work for dell - you're also in my top 10 right between dave slusher and duncan riley :) - mike "glemak" dunn
I made best of day post and a whole bunch of ff followers showed up, maybe you did that? - Fred Grott
I followed you on twitter cuz you're smart and techie! ;o) So it was only natural to follow you here too! - Susan Beebe

I'm liking the location tagging on photos. Hopefully it can be tied in with other apps and sites like Brightkite too, would save time. - Simon Wicks
searching contacts would be enough for me to switch! - Randal Leeb-du Toit
@Simon Yeah, it would be a major FAIL if geotagging isn't Flickr compatible. - Martin Bryant
Interesting. But I'm still bitter there is no stereo Bluetooth out. All the bells and whistles are fine, I appreciate gadgets, but I realize now that MP3/podcast out is more important day-to-day for me than all the rest... If only the Samsung Omnia was closer to being released. - David Sky
@Martin totally agree - Rubin Sfadj
Dave Winer
identi.ca gets a Replies tab and becomes a billion percent less shitty
Totally agree. - Robert Scoble
Friend import next please and then it might be useful - sam sethi from Alert Thingy
sam, I think the point is that if Twitter et al implement Open Microblogging, importing won't be necessary - Kevin L
It needs some "recommended friends" to avoid looking really lame to newbies. - Robert Scoble
Robert, you just want to get recommended there too. Come on, admit it. - Kevin L
klecu: nice try, but I've been talking about this before I was on recommended systems here: http://thenextweb.org/2008... - Robert Scoble
I'm still trying to figure out a reason to use identi.ca. Playing around with it. We'll see. - Dennis Jackson
I don't understand why it was launched WITHOUT a Replies tab in the first place... - Mark Douglass
I agree with Dennis Jackson, minus the "playing around with it" part. - ChaCha Fance
Yes, it lacks some basic features, especially if people are looking at it who are coming from twitter. Not having replies really annoys me, enough not to use it. - jjprojects
GOOD, that is an essential feature... neat to see it growing so quickly - not only with users, but also features - Susan Beebe
big feature - Dobromir Hadzhiev
Yep - looks like identi.ca has been built correctly so far too. It *appears* to be scaleing up nicely after a few slow days early on. - Jonathan Beckett
@critics: Identi.ca is worth supporting, because it is open source. The very reason means that it has the potential of attracting third-party developers that create plug-ins, improve the platform or simply host their own Identi.ca-installations. That's a huge thing. Think about Firefox: It is based on Mozilla/Netscape's code, which was created. AOL didn't do anything with it, but others came and created Firefox (and Flock, Sunbird, Songbird, etc.) because it is open. That's Identi.ca's biggest feature. - sebmos
Next step must be API. - Sergey Petrenko
sebmos: I'm still learning about Identi.ca. Your comment kind of pushed me back on the site to research it a bit. I can see this going somewhere. :) - Dennis Jackson
Replies tab on Indenti.ca is big. I'd also like to be able to export my subscription lists. Edit/delete would be nice too. - Jeff Evans
Nice to see this feature already. I was talking to the dev yesterday and was asking if I can jump in and provide a solution for it. Cool to see that the guy already did it himself :-). - Alex Popescu from feedalizr
Mark Douglass - Twitter launched without a replies function as well, you know. And it took a lot longer than a few days for it to arrive. - Earle Martin
So if we wildly extrapolate identi.ca's usability increase, it could potentially surpass Twitter in 3 months and Friendfeed in 6. The question then is: will users migrate and become critical mass on the new service? By now we know that critical mass is more important than QoS, as evidenced by the bird and the whale. - Ignacio Rodriguez de R,
http://identi.ca/your_ni... --- for output of your identi.ca subscriptions -- thanks evan - Jeff Evans
this is so effing awesome! - Sarah Perez
(s_dance) - Hao Chen
identi.ca is irrelevant. It's a step backwards from FriendFeed. - Thomas Hawk
Whoa, that must of been some seriously shitty software before now, but still shitty I see? - Andrew Baron
This still is not the distributed version you wanted Dave. And I -with all the respect I owe to its makers- don't think that it will success if all the twitter crowd come in. I hope I'm wrong - directeur from NoiseRiver
I think Replies is a setup in the right direction. In fact. it might be the main step. Awesome. - Andrew Ruess from twhirl
For me, it's still just idont.ca.re - Alan Le
Agree with Alan Le. identi.ca doesn't seem like much of an upgrade. It's a distraction from a better solution - getting everyone over to FriendFeed. - Jon Galloway
Yep, i'm with Jon there... I really don't see the fuss Identi.ca . Why are we getting excited over replies...ridiculous. - Zee.
These products are all so new. There's plenty or room for experimentation. - Harry Myhre
Thanks, Dave! And thanks to everyone who had comments and critiques. I know that people have a choice in which service to use. I'd like to make sure that a) the software has features equal or better to other µblog sites b) the architecture is truly scalable -- from small commodity web hosting to >1M user megaservices. - Evan Prodromou

I've decided I need my own private jet. If anyone out there wants to bankroll that, it'd be much appreciated. Sugar daddies apply here

You gotta love a Congresswoman who can talk about Google's Android and how it'll beat Apple's iPhone. - http://www.fastcompany.tv/video...
This is the first FastCompany.TV video I've ever watched. Strange since I've followed you on Twitter and FriendFeed for some time now... - Ben Parr
Yup, I thought that was great. If I was in her district, she'd have my vote. - Dennis E. Hamilton
Ben: so what did you think? - Robert Scoble
This was also my first FastCompany video and I was blown away to hear a politician speak so intelligently about tech. - Joseph Ferris
Great! - It's refreshing to know we've got a few techies running the country and people actually getting that angle some coverage. - Ben Parr
Scobleizer, great interview. I didn't know anything about Congresswoman Zoe until I watched this video. Very geeky indeed. I wish there's more geeks in Congress. - imabonehead
