Multiclass Mondays #14 – Psionic Power - http://at-will.omnivangelist.net/2011...
two great things that bring joy to my life are my Devops and Perl Weekly e-mails. I need someone to make a Weekly for RPGs. Make it so!
The world's first fanboys respond to the very first reboot: http://j.mp/psAP6b //I fell over laughing.
so, I'm not going to label something firmly in that sphere unless it is using explicit symbolism and imagery.
in the real world, violence is never elegant, and it always carries a heavy price. Action/adventure simplifies the world so that isnt' so.
action is all about the catharsis of violence. When you start breaking down the actual consequences and parallels, it becomes drama.
If you level that against D&D I feel you then need to start parsing action movie ever made for similar trends.
I think that in action/adventure, the prime premise is that "violence works and it works rather elegantly."
I have to say, I watch both sides of the D&D encourages genocide debate with a fair amount of amusement.
Mile Morales (new Spiderman) next week! I am excited to meet him. Preview: http://j.mp/p9X7Sz

RT @RyanMacklin: Today, I talk about how action sequences are conversations. And swear. A lot. http://t.co/GkHdiH8 #gnf
RT @KoboldQuarterly: Actual play writeup of the #4E #dnd adventure the Lost City by @loganbonner @sarahdarkmagic and @gamefiend http://t.co/WANolGl #rpg
(also, talking about typical action-based anime, not Miyazaki fare or anything like that)
So yep, your char has a char fighting another char w/ a char. If we aren't being hyper-literal, that describes a lot of anime.
What I feel is missing from most anime games is that powers aren't treated like characters with stories.
oh shnap. Just came up with a great method of doing cortex+ anime while answering a G+ post of @atminn . Lunchtime gods, I thank ye.
But nevertheless, I have no problems with that being one of my last posts.
I just randomly looked over "Why Making Hard Encounters" & thought "what a brilliant little piece! who wrote that? Oh, me." #circleblogging
what I really want to get together is a few session of DFRPG going at some point. I'd run it, but would rather play. so, someone get to it.
looking forward to playing Technoir next week. Have heard a lot about it, so am super-curious to test it out.
face to face game will meet on September 18th...looking forward to that! That game will most likely be Neverwinter, but we'll decide then.
on the second half of the talent is overrated book. They have detailed the problems, now solutions time. good stuff.
Spirit's Rage Horizon has been pretty awesome. Conjuring up some more for later. Will experiment with multiple Horizons happening at once.
