@blowdart yes they do, it proves you are entitled to work in the UK and they are obliged by the government to check that entitlement.
@blowdart usually they ask for this after you've been offered and accepted the job, not for just an interview.

why go through the cost of an interview and then check if the candidate is allowed to work in the UK. Fail early is more sensible.
