Looks like these structures were abandoned a long time ago. I cannot understand why the dentist chair, school desks and table were not sold? It looks like they abandoned it in a hurry. - Shakeel Mahate

Shakeel: My guess would be that rather than being abandoned in a hurry, it was a very gradual transition. At first, they just close something thinking it'll only be temporary. A few months later, a window breaks or a pipe freezes. The weather gets in and nobody notices and things start to go downhill. Properties change hands, the contents depreciate, and pretty soon stuff's worth less than the cost to salvage it. Also, keep in mind many of these buildings were abandoned 20+ yrs before eBay, craigslist, etc. - Ken Sheppardson
