Ruth Rogers

An electrical/software engineer turned psych nurse. (No, it's really not *that* different!)
@DrCris Heh. Shall we place odds on how long that will last? ;)
@cupcakerica Very sweet of you. I'd have no idea what to tell you to put in it, though. Neck armor, maybe? :-/
@purplesque Ooh, it has a fireplace too? What a perfect room! I'd have to be pried out with a crowbar. :)
@purplesque Wow, with a view (and room) like that, who *cares* what it's doing outside? Beautiful!
@not_ratched I don't tell you often enough how awesome your photos are. :)
Things I've learned from my patients: Coffee filters work better as hats than as popcorn bowls.
Bad, @purplesque? It's just typical PNW winter weather. I don't mind; it's a small price to pay for the glorious springtime to come!
@hillarygayle I told my kids if there was no grownup to intervene, then by golly, HIT BACK! Gotta balance politeness & self-preservation! :)
@purplesque Shoot, you're only 3 hours from us!
First time I felt crepitus, @seejanenurse, I blurted "Oh COOL!" Poor patient. :)
@grimalkinrn I have a 3-flight limit on stairclimbing. Maybe I should push myself a little harder. :-/
@bthenextstep Half an evening shift, here.
@cupcakerica She's ok, but very traumatized!
@BiteTheDust It's just 3 php files to go in wp-includes, so easy enough to un-patch if it doesn't work.
@BiteTheDust Haven't had a chance to try it yet. I downloaded it because I knew I'd lose the link if I didn't. :)
@BiteTheDust I can't remember the link, but I downloaded the patch, & am happy to share: http://dl.dropbox.com/u...
Waterproof iPod earphones would go a long way toward improving my hot bath experience.
@terikris Thanks! Nothing's wrong with the evening, it's me who's off-kilter. I'll get straightened out soon enough. :) Happy new year back!
@Anythiene Argh. Annoying people!
First fireworks are going off outside. It's 11:26 pm. Anxious, are we? *grumble, grouch*
Do you really think saying "don't worry" to nursemom will actually cause her to not worry, @Anythiene?
@terikris Kindness and caution can coexist. Trust, but pay attention to where pt is, never turn your back, & always keep an escape route.
Maybe a long, hot bath would put me in a better frame of mind for dealing with a new year...(I was just getting used to the old one!)
@terikris I like to think I'm always careful...but she's a veteran RN. I keep wondering if he'd have caught me off guard too. Scary thought!
@terikris Yep...Also it's really hard to remember not to rely on our social conditioning & expect normal cues/danger signs.
@terikris She's traumatized, but ok. I'm taking the lesson to heart. No matter how nice the psychotic patient is, *don't* turn your back.
Thinking about my coworker who was assaulted...it was my usual shift, but schedules were changed due to holiday. It could have been me. :-/
@littlemissnikki I had a 5-yr-old who planned to be an entomologist & specialize in arachnids. (He actually became a Yahoo! software engr.)
