if this is for your luggage, you could also try needle and thread - worked to get me home one time. some hotels have sewing kits you can have.

I bet the front desk or concierge could set you up with some duct tape or at least packing tape. Is there a drug store nearby?

Some airports offer shrink wrap ... which is great until the TSA wants to search you bag.
