Derrick
I've never once plotted, thought about, strategized, clamored for, lost sleep over, pondered, or appealed to people in order to gain followers or comments. I was just myself.
SPOT ON, D.... - Live4Emma (L4S)
+100 - Alex Scoble
It'll eventually be like twitter where a most of your followers end up being spammers, 'social networks experts', PR, and marketing folks. - Rodfather
+100 Derrick - mikepk
So true Rod - lots of my new followers are soc med experts, where are all of the other experts? - Todd Jordan
Agreed, Derrick. I've got so much other stuff to lose sleep over, like job hunting, relationships, etc, that losing sleep over followers just seems silly. - Jon, the Beartato of FF
Word. Being me has gotten me the most followers, I think. I like it like that. I like that the me you see online is the same me you meet in person. Ain't no future in frontin' - DO ANYBODY NO MONIQUE from IM
That settles it then. From now on I'll be Monique so I can get more followers. - MVB (Curmudgeon of FF)
Being an 'open' woman helps get lots of followers - for example, posting lots of pics of herself, being flirty, etc. - Todd Jordan
lol@Matt - Rodfather
Yay for FeDrick and being yourself! - Her Lindsay-ness
Sounds like me. - Akiva Moskovitz
Hear. Hear! Being yourself is always the best policy. Less to keep track that way. :-) - Mathew A. Koeneker
I'm amazed if people follow me. So I can't say I clamor for the attention purposely (I borrowed clamor because I liked it!). - Katie: Witch Of The West
Katie, I'm with you. I love engaging people and finding out what makes them tick. We don't have to agree on everything all the time. Some people like chocolate, others like vanilla, and it's all okay. For the record, I like both chocolate AND vanilla. - Derrick
And for the record, I'm not trying to cause trouble. I swear I'm not. I just think...okay, so now you have 1000 followers. Now what? If you're boring, and/or not engaging, what's the point? - Derrick
I think you have an excellent point Derrick and I don't see this as trouble making at all. It's just interesting to find people with similar interests and tastes and to chat about it and share. - Katie: Witch Of The West
That's why I like you Derrick. You are You... - Håkan Dahlström
okay, okay! I did it once, just once. I announced my gender-leanings on friendfeed just to see how many extra followers it got me. I didn't lose sleep over it though, I was just curious. Honest. :-) - Slippy "Threadsbane" Lane
A lot of tech bloggers jumped on board early. Since this is replacing Google Reader for some, they want to make sure their feed is on an aggregator people are using. So getting their blog post here could mean more hits, subscribers, and more $$. I'm using it more for entertainment than a tool, so I can care less. - Rodfather
I've never worried about gaining followers or comments. I'm just happy to have people on here that don't mind interacting with me. :D Because I'm kind of a social asshat, you know. :) - tinypants - Hagitha of FF
which is probably why you'd b a good blogger, derrick. - edythe
Right on. And that is why this group pals around together. - Donna Mugavero
signed up originally to get readers because other bloggers were doing that, but then i saw the conversations and now i don't really care about followers and blog readership. i do what i do and move on. - Amber, Random Time Lord
*Fist bump* Amen, I've never tried to be anyone else other than myself. What's the point in that? - Haggis (Sean Loyless)
Same here, Derrick, and somehow I got a mention from Scoble anyways. Getting followers is a side effect, not something you can, or even should want to, engineer, unless your reason for getting followers is to advertise something. Surprising as it may be to some people here and on twitter, not everybody here has something to sell. I said friend requests would be come the new spam back in august: http://friendfeed.com/e... - Mr. Gunn
Every minute of every hour of every day is consumed by these thoughts. Ok, I lied. I think of bacon. And bacon. And gadgets. And coffee. And teh Internet. And donuts. And alcohol. And glitter. And unicorns. And Cabbage Patch Kids. And Nintendo. And Super Mario. And Transformers. And and and... one time? In band camp...? - Mona Nomura
I guess it all depends on why you are here. For me this is an outlet so if I wasnt myself I'd be cheating myself. For some this is a business tool. For them they must strategize to get their message out. - ChiliMac from twhirl
To clarify, there are A-listers who are doing their thing, and that's fine. But when people see what they're doing and think, "A-ha! I need to do EXACTLY what they're doing, and then I'll be them!", is where the failure comes in. No one's ever going to out-Scoble Robert Scoble. That's all I'm saying. I reiterate: So you have 10,000 followers. Now what? - Derrick
*round of applause* for that, Derrick. - The Bohemian Penguin
