My five year old wants to make a website. I told him to at least learn HTML first. He just gave me the same "We both know you're going to be the one doing it so why are you giving me a hard time about it" look that his mother gives me on a regular basis.
I have no idea. He's a very intelligent, well spoken, chronically bored five year old boy with an interest in video games, trains and YouTube videos. It's either going to be really cool or a mess of epic proportions. Either way, it will be something that we can do together.

"PlanetInAction.com has released the first version of a fantastic free simulation game which leverages the browser-based Google Earth plugin as the primary graphics engine. The game is called "Ships" and lets you take the helm on ships - barges, cargo ships, container ships, and even a cruise ship (the QM 2). Everything is in 3D, you can drive the ships anywhere in the world, there are sound effects, physical modeling, and realistic visual effects that makes this a wonder to behold. Not only that, but the author - Paul van Dinther - has created some great camera tools to make it easier for people to follow the action and see the sights. This is the best example of the Google Earth API I've seen to date."

To bad, the Google Earth Plugin is not available for Linux, so far

i tried feedly a couple of times, but it all seemed too jumbled for me. i may check it again and give it another chance
- Cee Bee
agreed with Cee Bee and Mark...there's just something not right about the UI for me...maybe it get's better...I'll keep checking back

I swore by FeedDemon til I started migrating to Google Reader. Now if FeedDemon were a web UI, I think Reader would still have no chance.

CeeBee, Mark, Love4Soccarrrr. We have heard that from a few people. We are trying to listen and address the issue in our October release by offering a simpler and cleaner UI and also trying to better correlate and group information. It is not a trivial nut to crack so it might take use a couple more iterations before we get to the right level of simplicity.

I have been using feedly for the past two weeks. I find it so much more visually pleasing than Google Reader. Looking forward to more improvements though.
- Carmen - Happy 2010!
@Edwin: I think it has TREMENDOUS potential and I love the idea behind it but for me the UI was a bit wonky. I just found out about it and I tried it out for the first time yesterday so my mind is FAR from closed on it...definitely keep us posted on updates and I'll keep trying it out! Of course I could just be a dip shit who wouldn't know a good UI from a pile of dryer lint!

I want to like it, but might not get into it. Three texty columns whose contents seem arbitrary. Everything is equallly saying 'look look look here." Hard for me to really connect with it in an orderly way. Will try again. Edit, I'd almost reverse the order, and have the friends on the left(sources), the headlines in the middle, then expanded content on the right, so it feels like it's expanding from little to big. Just an opinion.

sergiooo. we are listening. We are experimenting with a few interface changes over the next 4 weeks to try to reduce the information overload and try to better group information and reduce duplications. It is not a trivial nut to crack but we are focusing on it. It will be interesting to see if people like you who seem to be turned off by the UI see progress in the right direction or not.

Hi Guys, welcome to the Apps room - this is where (i hope) we can go mad with sharing newly launched desktop & web applications. If you have any suggestions please feel free to share your thoughts.
Thanks for the invite, Zee, liking it round here! I used to visit TechCrunch or the like for a constant stream of new services, but it is now hard to find a constant 'list' of new applications to try, rather than hyperbole. Cheers!

The geek side of me is going... "Dude, it's funny because those would be considered 'female' components." And the other side of me is going... "There is no other side of me."
