I use paypal pretty much every time I have the option as well. The one thing that annoys me about it is that it defaults to ACH withrdawl rather than credit card payments.

Chris: I'd agree with you if Facebook was consistent and left up all speech. But it bans stuff all the time (and people) and is NOT consistent with its defense of freedom of speech. So, since they already have trashed free speech principles, they should get rid of the Holocaust deniers too.

Children have nothing to do with this lol. We all agree Facebook isn't held to freedom of speech, they can do what they want. That doesn't mean it's ethical for them to do that though. Then again, this is the only social media network who owns your material, rather than you owning your material. So I'd say they've kind gone against most of the rules so far.

Playing devil's advocate here... Should the breastfeeding/Holocaust thing be seen differently since the breastfeeding issue was pictures of nipple whereas the Holocaust thing is hate speech in the form of text?

An internet company's Terms of Service aren't necessarily telling people not to break the law, but rather stating what constitutes *acceptable behavior* on their service. Anthony is 100% correct (as is Geoffrey). The solution is more nipples, not fewer nazis. It would be wrong in my opinion to ban simple speech, just because someone thinks of it as hate speech. You guys need to realize that, in nearly all cases, holocaust denial isn't an independent issue; it's part of a larger problem. Sure, maybe not all holocaust deniers are neo-Nazis but you can bet that most neo-Nazis are holocaust deniers. Either way, the groups are inextricably linked and Nazism, neo or otherwise, is hate and does promote violence, etc. Last I checked, breastfeeding just promotes healthy babies.

Also, keep in mind that Facebook doesn't ban breastfeeding groups. They've banned nudity. It just so happens that members of breastfeeding groups tend to be all right with trading photos of themselves breastfeeding which just so happen to usually include nudity and so it was the breastfeeding groups that were making the most noise. I think several different issues are being conflated here.

Partially true, but I've always found that being surrounded by smarter students was more important to my academic success than any other factor. I think Robert's brand is portable enough that he can survive outside of his own domain. At the end of the day, it's about engaging people through whatever means possible, whether that's your blog or FriendFeed, Twitter etc. For what it's worth, I had never read Robert's blog before I used FriendFeed. In some respects there's probably an element of Michael using Robert's popularity to drive a bit of traffic his way. Looks like it worked too.

McCain's campaign is nothing but whining ('why does the world love Obama?'), attack ('Why didn't Obama make political hay out of wounded vets in Germany?'), and big-oil ideas ('more drilling -- in 30 years we'll start to really think about getting off the crack!'). It is amazing to watch the mainstream media cower before the GOP message machine, regardless.

@Vincent - great managers hire great people (and the greatest managers hire people smarter than themselves in specific areas) ....I will say that I think the one thing Obama should be careful of is not assuming the role of President before the 'people' have actually elected him. It's good to go overseas and show your stuff but bad if there is the potential for the backlash of people who don't want him to assume his victory before the people have even spoken....(and yes that is a Canadians outsider POV)

A candidate's campaign and campaign staff is akin to the cabinet and other positions when assuming the presidency. So, by this measure I agree that McCain's campaign has been a scary look at what we could expect from his administration. The relentless gaffe's by McCain show a lack of coordination by his team. If they can't get it together now - what makes us believe they could do it once they were in office?

@Vincent, is it not important the people you select to run things for you. There's a funny thing called a Presidential Cabinet, and this is exactly what the future President will be doing -- choosing people to run the country. While campaign is certainly not a great comparison, it is a great way to see how a candidate chooses his closest advisors, mentors, and friends -- after all, those same people will run the country for four years.

@Jim I think Obama hasn't sealed the deal with a clear majority yet primarily because (a) he's a black man and we've never elected an African-American president so that's always going to be a hurdle and is going to cut into his margins, (b) he's young and not nationally known up to recently, so he is still introducing himself to the country, especially those who don't tune in during primaries.
