Most stuff I bookmark online (on delicious or magnolia), but short-term stuff, like jobs or concerts I'm interested in following up on I bookmark locally.
- Jandy, ConcertMaven of FF
yeah, similar - frankly i've never gotta hang of bookmarking...I keep tools i need to viisit regularly in my toolbar and then every other one i tend to search google for! :)
- Zee.
socially through delicious w/ some on Google bookmarks & Yahoo bookmarks
- scott
I always do it socially, unless I have a tab open that I haven't looked at yet and need to close the browser. Then I just delete them again once I've looked at them.
- Geoff Girardin
Socially - I rarely mark bookmarks as private, but if I do, they're short-term (as with Jandy).
- flammable
I always bookmark socially, unless it's local scope (eg intranet)
- David Slattery
Socially. I don't see the point of bookmarking locally as socially works both ways and locally only serves me. Plus I'd rather have all my links saved to the cloud and my desktop rather than just the desktop.
- Jon Gosier
I have been using the hell out of Read This Later. At least as far as marking things to read later... *cough* Once I've checked something out, tho, it usually ends up on delicious or somewhere.
- abacab
I use both, depending on what I'm bookmarking.
- LouCypher
local bookmarks are for porn and you all know it
- Mitch
Local for sites I like and If I think other people like the site I add it to stumbleupon or delicious It all really depends.
- Patrick
from twhirl
I used to bookmark by creating contacts. That way they got synchronised to my mobile device. But I don't bookmark since FF3. Browser history = bookmarks. For me it's quicker to type a few letters in the address bar and then pick one of my browser's auto-complete options
- sjjh
@Zee I'm glad someone else uses that method!
- David Young
socially, now using diigo since i can have bookmarks private, public or only shared with group/project members only (especially on projects which has some confidentiality issues)
- Naor Mark
I usually bookmark socially. Share, learn, and grow together. :)
- Daynah
Somewhere in the past few years, I got too lazy to bookmark at all. Most of my computers almost always have something like 8 windows open with 35 or so tabs between them, and I might have IE, Chrome and or Safari open, too. Wonder what a psychiatrist would make of that.
- MiniMage, sheeple of FF
With FF related items we can see how many people posted and bookmarked any one page. Its great.
- Roberto Bonini
Both, one off stuff I keep for reference goes to delicious, stuff I use regularly and want to bookmark for ease of access goes into Google Bookmarks, nothing goes into the browsers local bookmarks.
- Andy Davies
Both. I primarily bookmark locally with foxmark syncing but also bookmark socially w/ magnolia.
- Keith - @tsudo
How do we all feel about this? Personally, I would put ads in my tweets, and I wouldn't object to others doing the same. Ads are all the same to me, they get ignored.
- Will Higgins™
hmm, i dunno - tweets are so short that i probably would unfollow anyone who added them to their tweets. But on a twitter background, even though i wouldnt do it - i wouldn't blame people who did.
- Zee.
The problem with this is that you probably won't be able to tell the difference between an ad and, let's say, a site that the "twitterer" is actually recommending. Unless the user is providing amazing content, I'd probably unfollow.
- Antonio Marques
from twhirl
I'm yet to see this in action - is there a Magpie disclaimer in the tweet at all? if it's at all detectable, it's an automatic unfollow as far as I'm concerned
- David Miller
is this, firstly, in concordance with the twitter tos? i find it hard to believe.
- Tibi Puiu
I am going to try it. Says I can make $98.41!
- Stowe Boyd
Something is wrong, it says I can make $7,703!
- Eric Sessions
I tried Twittads, not Magpie. Magpis says I could make 286.11 €/month
- Stowe Boyd
What a weird service. It says I can make 5.08€/month.
- Anika
Oh boy, I could make 3 bucks a month. :/ Not worth it in my opinion. Interesting concept though.
- Geoff Girardin
What happens to all the money of rich people when they move on and they don't have any children or relatives? Assuming they didn't leave it for someone in their will.

- Mark Trapp
I cheated by using iTunes, and looking at my top 1000 played, sorted by album, and then looked at my decades' sets. I'm sure that overlooks work by Nirvana, NIN, etc, that aren't ripped in there.

- Cyndy
can't necessarily give you albums but can give you a list of favorite performers/bands: Eagles, Stevie Wonder, Prince, George Michael, Radiohead, Tears for Fears, Fleetwood Mac, the Cure, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, REM
- Kimberly J
It's so hard to pick just ten. And albums... there are so many good songs, but whole albums? My list changes over time, but here are ten *among* my favorites... Radiohead (The Bends), Nirvana (MTV Unplugged), O Brother Where Art Thou, Pink Floyd (pick any one between 1973-1977), The Beatles (pick any between 1965-1970), Portishead (pick any), The Clash (London Calling), Roxy Music (Avalon), Sigur Ros (Hvarf-Heim), Nine Inch Nails (Ghosts i-IV), Oh, that's ten, do I really have to stop?...
- LogEx
Louis, I'm usually data-driven, but music is different... To get my initial list I scanned my library and ratcheted up my emotion detector. But I just applied your algorithm and it did tweak the list somewhat.
- LogEx

Ben Folds (Songs for Silverman), Crowded House (Crowded House) (Woodface), Dave Brubeck (Time Out), Ella Fitzgerald, (The Definitive Collection), Pete Murray (Feeler), Rodgers and Hammerstein (South Pacific), Mussorgsky (Pictures at an Exhibition), Orff (Carmina Burana) , The Rat Pack (best of)

"The biggest reason for the abandonment behaviour however, dawned on me as I perused my blog stats for the year to date. And it was the amount of patience required to get a blog off the ground. Because despite what the ‘Make Money Online‘ and other get rich quick blogs may tell you, it’s not friggen easy to get people to read your blog!"
- Thomas Hawk
My main issue has always been the time investment. Writing a good blog is a time sink - easily an hour a day. Which on top of working and other hobbies, is quite a lot. Twice now I've managed to get a blog off the ground (it does take 8-12 months) only to abandon it when other things took priority, to find that my (modest) readership vanished by the time I could return to it.
- Eric P
Though let me also add this - how many of those 200 million were simply "personal diaries" where the blogger didn't stop blogging so much as they started utilizing myspace/facebook more?
- Eric P
Eric: True, but that still leaves an inactive blog behind.
- Geoff Girardin
I want to turn this around and ask, is there a way to quantify just how successful an individual would be if they started a blog (not a personal journal) and kept at it diligently for 6 months, a year, two years.. even four years.
- Phil G
I tried to comment on this this morning but I guess my 'interview/audition' comment wasn't that well received...nevermind, the interview was great!
- WorldofHiglet
Very delightful interview to read! I especially like that you're a fellow digsby user! The devs said you're one from way back. :D
- Geoff Girardin
Yes, my brother turned me onto it very early on. It's great, I love having it in the toolbar. Much better than Twirl imo.
