Politicians are held in check by the press, for better or worse; that too is one of the ways in which the press allows a democracy to function. Without the threat of public exposure, well… you can imagine.

"I was an architecture critic, not an art critic," I said. "But I think they're all bad. And I'd hate to be in the room when you show this to the mayor."

This is fantastic! "Brilliant Noise takes us into the data vaults of solar astronomy. After sifting through hundreds of thousands of computer files, made accessible via open access archives, Semiconductor have brought together some of the sun's finest unseen moments."

"brains Notes: Even adventurous eaters often draw the line at brains, and it's just as well, since they're loaded with cholesterol. Those who do eat them often scramble them with eggs. It's very important that brains be fresh, so either cook them or freeze them the day you buy them. Substitutes: sweetbreads (Brains and sweetbreads can be used interchangeably in most recipes, but brains aren't as well regarded.)"

I'm sticking with tofu brain substitute, thanks.

i've eaten some things that most would consider off limits, but never had brains. i'm still not sure how i'd feel about that

I had a friend who ordered a brain taco at a Mexican restaurant. The waitress asked him if he was sure about his decision, since nobody actually orders the brain taco. He was drunk so he went through with it. The taco was gross. It smelled weird. It looked awful. My friend became ill after eating a few bites. Not sure if it was from the brains though. I mean, he HAD been drinking. Aw, who am I kidding? It was the brains.

My parents have no problems eating brains. I can't say that I've knowingly eaten it before. I personally draw the line at Vietnamese duck blood. *barf*

i had calves' brains in Mexico. They tasted very much how I thought they might. Like brains.

I've had cow brains mixed in with scrambled eggs when I was about 8 or 9. I remember the eggs tasting REALLY good until I learned what the gray bits were. I mean, really good like the best eggs I'd ever had. My grandmother's favorite part of squirrel was the brains. Yes, I'm from Mississippi.

Fantastic. Toss it on the barbie with other obscure meat products :)

My father loves Brain, Sheeps brain is an old Scottish favorite (my grandparents were Scots). Thankfully I never picked up the habit :-)

This is only the beginning. I'm expecting a whole sea change in the industry i.e. direct downloads, forgoing the label & distribution system altogether, bands becoming self-reliant businesses, cutting out the middlemen, etc. It's gonna be wild.

Man, I had no idea the internet was actively marketed by crack dealers, drug pushers and homeless people! Makes sense though and seems pretty obvious.

i found it by way of finding some way to aggregate all the social networks... the conversations taking place now were never even a thought back in the beginning

Is it awful that I don't remember? Someone gave me a code back before it was out of Beta. Could've been Scoble - could've been a lot of people :\

rassem frassem Louis Gray and his rassem frassem Pollyanna-esque posts about how EVERYONE NEEDED to be on the rassem frassem site. I reviewed it. I didn't like it. I STILL don't like it. And yet, I'm here. Grr.

Followed local tweeps over here a couple of months ago, signed up, but barely touched it until reading a post on Cecily Walker's blog. Now I'm hooked.

For me it was the conversations/community here really, knew of FF in passing due to work but my normal circle of friends weren't here. Info-sharing and conversations were great as I waded in and I was pretty much hooked by end of first week.

Scoble. He says, I do. And before anyone asks, the cliff has to have a pretty view at the very least.

I was looking for recipes on how to feed lots of friends and this popped up. ;)

I first read about lifestreaming on RWW, they had an article on lifestrea.ms! I was interested in such a service and between Techcrunch and RWW I got involved with FriendFeed shortly after!

A tweet from Scoble, which if i remember correctly was: 'Folks, we are having a 24 hour twitout, checking out FriendFeed. See you there.' I followed him to this wonderland; Still tumbling, deeper everyday.

I first saw it on Facebook, then Louis said it had a web site.

Morton Fox, of course. Darn him. :)

mentioned by Mashable in a Google search result, called DeviantArt "the FriendFeed of art sites", made me want to investigate further, I Googled that, and the rest is history... and Edythe, will you share with us your origin myth? I'm a little curious.
