“I am growing weary for the growing number of posts seeking to deconstruct the web's latest buzzwords to prove they are being used incorrectly - I don't care if a social media "community" is not the same concept as a "community" in early 19th century America”

English is a living language. Definitions and meaning can morph and change. - Sonciary Honnoll
We can all agree that meaning of words change -- but it is still useful to have a common understanding of what a word now means even if its different from before - Brian Sullivan
@brian very much agree - i am all for constructive discussion and critical analysis I just feel like some find they don't have a whole lot of positive value to add to the conversation so they begin looking for things to tear down so that they too can be an expert - Marco (aureliusmaximus)
@marco - Well said. I do however, enjoy any discussion regarding changing linguistics and the construct of community. - Nice Fish Films
@nice fish tyx - I do as well - in fact I love any kind of discussion that challenges CW or critically discusses ideas - Marco (aureliusmaximus)
"horseless carriage" and "web" probably different meanings, too - Mark Dykeman
that explains the weird looks lately when i tell people i love surfing the horseless carriage ; p - Marco (aureliusmaximus)
@marco - winner! - Mark Dykeman
While the etymology of new terms and meanings is helpful for newcomers to the net and having a repository of them as a reference would be cool (an ever changing wiki often based upon keystroke errors would be kind of dorky funny), in order to take away some of the intimidation factor the terms have for people, I try to liken it to a toy that only has instructions in a language you do not know. Best to play with it to figure out what everything really means. I agree, repeated analysis is tiresome. - Boo

My what an unpopular post this will probably turn out to be. That's why I love this blog. Those who contribute to it say things that would be taboo for less popular blogs and you rarely pull punches. Once again you hit the nail on the head. Great work Cyndy :) - Derick Valadao
Thanks Derick. ;) - Cyndy
Cyndy does a great job, which is why she was the first person I invited to be a guest poster. I'm glad to have given her a new platform to express her good posts. - Louis Gray
Cyndy has expressed my thoughts on the Twitter Followed/Following issue far more eloquently than I ever could. - Sally Robinson
Great post! I just don't think Twitter can last much longer. - Bill Sodeman
I'd be interested to see exactly how many people were only concerned with followers, because the opposite was true of my 1000 (before the cull!) connections. - Badger Gravling

First Look at Tweenky, Gmail-like Interface for Twitter

Evan Williams just put away his checkbook from the summize deal but needs to get in touch with these guys! THIS is what twitter.com needs to look like! Good stuff. - paisano
oh Orli - this gives me hope! With the auto-refresh we might even be able to have a half-decent conversation on Twitter! Do you know what it's using under the hood for the real-time updates? Ajax? Keep us posted on this please!! - Matt Hooper
Matt, it's probably Ajax-based. Guys, this application is amazingly good! - Orli Yakuel
twitter is dead. too bad it uses a bad standard. let me know when they interface ff - AnotherⓟⓁⓊⓂⒷⒺⓇ
That's pretty nice. Wonder when they'll open up their beta more? - Patrick Veverka
any invites? - acedanger
Thanks for the positive comments everyone. Our team is really dedicated to providing the best twitter experience possible via the web. There are a few bugs left to work out, but we're hoping to get those ironed out over the weekend and do a soft launch next week. - Derek Gathright
Oh, and follow @tweenky for the latest updates with the application. Matt, this application uses the Summize & Twitter APIs, and heavily uses ajax (jQuery). - Derek Gathright
Whats going on with this people! Is IE secondary ?? "It looks like you are using Internet Explorer. We are still in early early early beta and haven't had the chance to properly test in IE yet. In the meantime, go download Firefox! =)"................. - Jigar Mehta
Jigar, Ugh... IE is such a pain in the ass. we're hoping to get IE7 support, but really, we're targeting power twitter users, and they don't use anything but Firefox & Safari. Right now we're at 4% of our traffic is IE users so not sure it is vital to get working during a beta launch. - Derek Gathright
Sounds interesting. Would love an invite. Thanx! - Barbara K. Baker
Alright derek, any idea where to get invite from?] - Jigar Mehta
The screenshots look really nice. Would love an invite. Thanks! - Sudar
No invites... but hopefully Tweenky will go public soon. - Orli Yakuel
I need something looking like gmail like I need a hole in the head - James Tenniswood
@derek - Thanks for letting us know a bit more about it - can't wait to have a closer look! - Matt Hooper
Wow! it's so cool to see that lots of people liked Tweenky. Really something that worth waiting for. - Orli Yakuel
Agree with James. Why? - Duncan Riley
wheres the innovation ? I Agree with James, do I need another gmail type interface ? to me its just a skin being applied to Twitter, you can do all the makeup you want, but that will not hide the twitter illness beneath a skin !! - Peter Dawson
@Duncan, convenience. But you know what, it's not a second Gmail, it's just some colors an elements that resemble to Gmail, and make it easy to understand and work with the applications. Duncan, this application rocks big time, wait till you try it yourself :-) - Orli Yakuel
Orli, " this application rocks" - this is just a UI app , as much as I hate sayin this, but building an interface on a "rocky" /unstable application will certainly lead to what ? another mini fail whale experience ? - Peter Dawson
Peter, you're talking like Twitter is to be close tomorrow... come on... we all know that this "UNSTABLE" thing, didn't stop none of us from using it. And I'd like to think that Twitter will be stable eventually. - Orli Yakuel
Tweenky.com seems to bring up only a white page... So is this a full Twitter-like platform, or just a UI that talks to Twitter itself? - Jason Carreira
I can't reach at the site.is tweenky under construction?? - Chris Qie
Yes. (even for me, and I miss it already since yesterday) - Orli Yakuel
See http://twitter.com/tweenky/sta... for what has happened to Tweeny - Nick Cowie
Yeah, I know about that. It will come back shortly :-) - Orli Yakuel
waiting to play with it... not sure if i'll use it - Naor
I really would like to try this. Sorry they're having trouble right now.. - Rebkin
