Public space or public figures or not, generally I'd defer to common courtesy and not take photos of people not prepared to be photographed. Or, at least, switch from a stealth stance to introducing myself and asking for a photo op. Then again, I guess this is why I'm not a very successful photographer! - Ryan

Roger - Yes. During the same game as the photo I had made eye contact with another young women who gave me the high sign with her eyes. She was 20 ft down and on the railing from me. A much younger girl near me called me on what I was doing. She was uncomfortable and not even in my camera's direction. We all need to demand more public wi-fi for just this kind of crap. With something like the Eye-fi card pictures can be immediately uploaded to the internet as they're taken. I love the way the photog retrieved the deleted file though. :) Too bad no one was live-casting on qik or ustream though. I'd guess most cops have no clue about those sorts of software either. Ed, I think Robert's point is that "the purpose" is relative. For a lot of people, Twitter is a way to keep track of people they're already interested in and have relationships with. /I/ find that the signal-to-noise ratio gets higher the more I follow. I haven't jumped into it like Robert has, but my nearly-500 followees give me a pleasant amount of signal, even if the noise alone exceeds the timeline volume of the "average user". - Chris Anthony

It's true that there are going to be users following thousands of others just because Robert does, but that's a risk anyone takes. Lots of people are going to buy a camera because Ashton Kutcher has one; lots of people are going to see "Indiana Jones IV" because Roger Ebert likes it. I was gonna say! There is no problem until people start refusing to transfer over rooms with obvious ownership claims by others. Just taking a name, depending on intended use, isn't necessarily a bad thing. BTW, currently, "transfering" rooms does not seem to be possible. The Secondary Thomas Hawk effect. Yesterday about 20 people felt the Thomas Hawk effect first hand. When someone subscribes to me now I try to go to their stream and favorite some of their photos. The Secondary TH effect is noticeable when i review the new subscribers favorites. Some of the new favorites are those that TH introduced on FF. - Russellreno
