Ok here is a tough one FF'rs. Which one is the best. The Simpsons or Family Guy
The_Simpsons_vs__Family_Guy_by_baseballer13.png

Easily Family Guy. - Mathew™ one of a kind

well, according to the emmy awards, family guy. it's nominated for best comedy. simpsons never got a nod. - Morgan Haley

Simpsons. A true TV Pioneer. - MVB (Curmudgeon of FF)
The Simpsons always pushed the envelope. Family Guy took the envelope, rolled it up nice and tight, and proceeded to do naughty things with it. - Morgan Haley

Simpsons! Simpsons! Simpsons! Simpsons! - Harold
1UP m9m. WTF, people. SIMPSONS! How many of you Family Guy voters are like, under 25?? I have a suspicion :P Family Guy can be funny, but it gets way too broad sometimes, and it's like, *entirely* dependent on pop culture references and flashbacks. The only thing it really has over The Simpsons is Stewie. - Kamilah Gill
Simpsons - Family Guy's first initial run was basically a rip off of funny Simpsons moments. They still steal so much stuff from it. It's crazy... - George Smith

Family Guy. - Jemm
Family Guy. Simpsons kind of peaked around, oh, season, uh, somewhere in the teens. Simpsons tries to be too modern/topical, the majority of Family Guy's good stuff is 80s references. - Andy Bakun

French manicures: Slutty or No? This is a 3 week-old debate across 10 year "generational" lines. We need a solution.
The story: 26 yo bride-to-be wants the women in the wedding party, including the moms, to have French manicures. She's paying for it. The younger ones 16 and 19 are balking as are the 34, 37 and 41 yo. They all agree it's slutty. The 21, 24 and 29 yo. And the bride's mom, think they're classy. - Anika
I say slutty. For me, the guys I grew up with and hung around with always looked at a girl's nails. They were convinced that girls with French manicures were whores. That's exactly what the teens said. They said, "French manicure = internet porn", which amuses me. But it's the 10 year divide that is more interesting. - Anika
I don't think so, at least, for nails that aren't excessively long. My mom usually gets an "American," which doesn't make the tips quite as white as a French. I think it does look a little classier, but not a huge difference. - Ladybug Heather
I've never heard french manicures described as slutty. Now I know what I have been doing wrong all this time. - Dragon Goldmaple
Never heard of this before. I would think long acrylic nails with all types of designs and crap are sluttier. I always thought of French manicures as classy. Guess I don't look at enough porn. - Rahsheen ™, Coach of FF
Wait, why is the bride dictating something so microscopic as the bridesmaids' nails? What's wrong with just letting them be themselves... - anna sauce
I'd go with a nice sheer pink or white. French manicures do have a reputation of being "stripper nails" or porn nails, at least to some people. I'm in my 30s and I had that feeling too. It's like too much pastel, too much lip gloss, french tips=stripper. If half the bridal party hates them, why not just go with something else? - Melissa
It's not weird for the wedding party to have matching nails, Anna. - Anika
formerly classy. undone by kathie lee gifford, hood rats, and tacky innanet porn chicks. i would opt for pastel sheers or shimmers instead. i think i used revlon's iced spice for my cousin's wedding. just please, no french manicured toes. UGH. - tiffany
This is news to me. I like what Anna says btw - I was really impressed when my cousin's wedding dictum to her sisters was simply "here's a fabric, get a dress made in this color and choose your own hat". - Daniel J. Pritchett
But yeah, slutty. - anna sauce
I think the length and cut of the nail has much more to do with the pr0n look. Square and long = eew - Heather Solos
I'm not a huge manicure person, but I've never considered French manicures slutty. In fact, when I was 14 and got my first manicure for my aunt's wedding, it was a French manicure. - Shannon Jiménez
agreed heather. i think you nailed it. oval shaped is less slutty than the square tips look - tiffany
As long as they are done well, not overly long or squared, too shiny, too bold, etc., I think they look classy. But the line can be easily crossed into trashy looking. - Carmen
There is a long and well-respected tradition that the bride gets to make her bridal party wear things they would otherwise not be caught dead in, and people humor her because it's Her Day. So, I say let the bride have her dang day, and just hope she doesn't make everyone wear chartreuse spandex dresses and lucite high heels with 'em. - (dot)lizard kelly
This is actually the only thing she's being forceful about. They're all wearing dresses they purchased of the 3 approved colors and cuts. They get to wear their hair and makeup like they want to, but she has a serious bug up her ass about the nails. - Anika
I can see the association between french tips and porn. But as a few people already said, it depends on the length and the style. I've had french manicures before and always felt happy about the look. to me it look classy but then i don't tend to have the long evil looking nails. - pea ♥ fierce as a woozle
they are HOT. that's all there is to it. I like them. They don't have to be an everyday thing. Maybe just when she's feeling all that, and a bag of sunchips. - Morgan Haley
I like them better with a bit of off-white and on natural nails rather than fake ones, personally. - joey
and now I want to go home and give myself a french manicure. :D i'm such a lemming. - pea ♥ fierce as a woozle
lemmings are HOT! - Morgan Haley
Off-white ones makes me think of smokers. - Anika
Anika, good point. I wouldn't go with a yellow-y white, just not super thick stark white but a more natural one. - joey
I recently got into a huge argument because I said I think they look silly. Not gonna get drawn into this one. Of course, I constantly get into arguments about the silliness inherent in weddings. - ha3rvey (free hugs!) from fftogo
never heard of " french manicures" - had to google it :)- buts it not "slutty" - Peter Dawson
I like the toenails treatment too. but only if she has cute feet. and by 'cute' i mean not all nasty and shit. i don't have a foot fetish, but the french toenail thingee is pretty hot too. - Morgan Haley
I had a friend who got a French manicure on her toes for a weekend trip to Vegas. I gave her so much crap about that, that by time she got to Vegas, she got them redone. She said, "I know you wouldn't have let up, especially by the pool." She's right. - Anika
I say french tips aren't slutty... hooker nails, to me, are the long ones with designs and sparkles in them. French manicures have always seemed classy to me, and most brides I've known have had them done. Including me, both times. :p Then again... I've been known to carry off the 'lady on the street, whore in the bedroom' routine pretty well. So maybe the nails fit... Always preferred f**k me red polish on my toes, though. But, that's just me. - Bette Cooper
And as a total aside, I was annoyed at the lady who helped me at the bank today. She had old nail polish on, where it was just in the middle. Such a shame because she had really nice nails. But seriously? Either wear it or don't, but don't look sloppy. - Anika
I think perhaps the fact that few of my friends are getting married, and the ones that are have tiny little backyard ceremonies, are is perhaps the reason I had no idea that brides regularly dictate the kind of nail job. - anna sauce
OK here's a question- why do couples that are young invest in $$ rings and $$ weddings when they should probably be saving for their future #completelycheapass - anna sauce
That was one of the many reasons we didn't have a "real" wedding, anna. - Carmen
So I should amend this post to say "I feel slutty"? http://friendfeed.com/bitseyb... LOL. I've never heard of French manicures being considered slutty. I went to get my nails done before my friend's wedding this past weekend and had intended to get a colour to match my dress, but when we couldn't find one, the manicurist suggested I go with... more... - The Bohemian Penguin
they just look ugly to me. Kinda makes me think they've trapped their finger in a door and you get that white flek if you've banged it hard enough. Personally, if your nails are getting in the way of operating a mobile phone or a keyboard *they're too long*. Other than that, I'm spending my time looking at something else to bother noticing ;) - alphaxion
People have different kinds of weddings for different reasons. Some young couples waste money because it's the "Bride's Dream Day" - some people just want an informal backyard celebration. If you're not paying for it, who cares? - Dragon Goldmaple
I like French Manicures on natural nails. the porn industry kind of ruined it for fake nails. - Lindsey is Fierce!
For the record, I'm 24, so I fit the age group you mentioned liking the style. Also, yeah, I'm the girl who walks around for a week with all her nail polish worn off except for the bits in the middle. I never have time to take the polish off, but I only ever get them done for occasions. Actually the French manicure has stood up to the hell my nails go through at work much better than a classic manicure. And I've never had fake nails. - The Bohemian Penguin
LOL @Penguin. I didn't see that post! - Anika
28 years old. I do not think they are slutty. I think a french manicure with extremely long nails is tacky, but a well done french manicure, to me, seems perfectly fine. - George Smith
I don't think fake nails are involved. I don't know anyone who gets those. - Anika
I used to get them regularly, because my nails were rather brittle. Since I couldn't grow them naturally, I did it the fake way. French, natural, red, a nice beige for work, loved them all. Learned how to type with longer nails, had no problems doing anything. Once I've mastered the art of small talk in danish, I'll be getting them again. :D Love my fake nails, personally. They also keep me from scratching myself silly. Now, fake nails on the toes weird me out a bit... - Bette Cooper
I don't understand why a french manicure would be "slutty," since it's not any kind of status symbol at all - it's just a fashion choice. - Jason Nunnelley
A french manicure is a pretty clean look. I mean if she was asing people to get dangly bits, stars and carrying on that could be problematic. French Manicure, just fine. - Michelle
I've never liked the look of a French manicure. It always looks tacky and gross to me. Same with decals, gems, designs, etc. I don't understand what's wrong with nice clean manicured nails with one color or even just a bit of clearcoat on them. Doesn't anyone do that anymore? *sigh* - tinypants - Hagitha of FF
I am glad to know there's 16-19 year olds who don't want to look slutty though :) - Jason Nunnelley
So how many bridesmaids does she have? I'm so catty. I love talking about weddings. I was in 4 in one year (my siblings). - anna sauce
wow. slutty? - edythe
@Jason, I think the remark sh/be "I am glad that a 16-17 yrs old, know the difference between looking slutty or not looking slutty !!". Given this day and age plus the way they dress.. as the french say "imaginez vous" - Peter Dawson
She has 4 bridesmaids, one maid of honor and the rest doing various things for the wedding. There are 3 other women involved, but they haven't weighed in. I don't think they're on Facebook. - Anika
Well this was making me think I was losing my mind, so I googled 'slutty french manicure' and came up with a link to this snippet from a BOOK. Typed on actual paper. So it must be true! http://tinyurl.com/kwl3gr - Melissa
Yes, and the book is called The Man Plan. You can't make this stuff up. - Melissa
Holy cow, Melissa. That's for real?!?! That's too funny. - Anika
Inorite? It's a DIFFERENT Melissa, I swear :D - Melissa
Yeah. Sure. LOL - Anika
I used to get my nails done, but now it kinda grosses me out- mostly because the lack of hygeine in most salons, and nail polish makes my nails feel suffocated. - anna sauce
I'm pretty sure the only way to reach an agreeable resolution is to stage a dance fight. http://www.youtube.com/watch... - Daniel J. Pritchett
Dang it Daniel, I'm going to have to put that in my Netflix queue. I haven't seen it since I was a little girl. My mom loved musicals. - Heather Solos
I pretended not to like it when it was my big sister's fave but clearly I did. - Daniel J. Pritchett
yes, for me there's a difference between natural short nails and longer acrylic/gels. - edythe
um, ok, I've read the Man Plan. but it wasn't my idea! - edythe
I think the length of the nail is what matters. Plus, aren't the little gems and bright red more slutty then bringing out the natural color variation? - Heather
ASIDE: Stupid car getting smacked totally made me forget I was gonna stop by the store to get nail polish to do my french manicure. ugh. Now I'm even more annoyed. - pea ♥ fierce as a woozle
ha, Michelle (soulpowr): "I mean if she was asing people to get dangly bits, stars and carrying on that could be problematic. French Manicure, just fine." "stars and carrying on." :D - edythe
i haven't had a french manicure in years, but that's because they just got to be old news to me. i do like the short fake toenails with the french manicure from Kiss. Also, Penguin, your post about your french had made me sort of want to get one ever since! - edythe
What or who are French manicures? We have Asian manicures here, and as i am told they are very good. Don't know about slutty, i go find out first thing tomorrow. - Nik
oops, i did *not* read The Man Plan! I read The *Four*-Man Plan. Totally different. - edythe
No. Never seemed slutty to me. - Mitchell Tsai
What the fuck? I get french tip on my toes all the time, and I am in now way....NEVERMIND. - DO ANYBODY NO MONIQUE
I have no idea what a stripper's nails or a porn star's nails look like. French manicure? That's just a basic type of manicure. I'm really blown away by this thread. LOL. Y'all done looked too hard at too much porn. - Rahsheen ™, Coach of FF
I didn't know manicures could be slutty. (Or what a French manicure is, or how it differs from other manicures.) - John (a.k.a. dendroica)
*Picks up John so we can go get manly manicures* - Derrick
...depends on the owner of da fingas. ;-p - .LAG liked that
LOL @Monique. You a fool. ROFL - Anika

Question: Why do you guys re-Tweet yourselves?
Really? Who does that? - Kol Tregaskes
I've been tracking bit.ly clicks and noticed that after 5-10 minutes, a tweet "dies." With the amount I tweet, sometimes I just want to make sure that people who may not have been at their computer at 9am can see the tweet at noon/3pm/etc etc - George Smith
I don't. I hardly RT others. - Derrick
Which also makes me want to run an experiment involving spacing out "RTs" over time is better for traffic generation than just the amount of followers - George Smith
@George: Oooooh that makes sense - Mona Nomura
Interesting point, George. - Kol Tregaskes
Yeah - I mean, follower count is really meaningless if tweets do die. It's about who is engaged (Monday mornings ROCK as far as click through is concerned). Lately, I've been taking tweets of friends that I want to retweet and waiting to retweet them for like 30 minutes. I seems like it helps spread to new eyeballs better since most of the more active twitter users follow very similar users bases. - George Smith
George, seems to me like: self RT = *bump* - chrisofspades
Nope, but I know people who do. - John Wang
@chris - exactly. Bumps are good if they are done right. I mean - twitter is a conversation platform. In life, if something is important, you bring it up again when it's appropriate - ie new audience. Over doing it can be an issue - just like friends you spend a lot time with might get sick of hearing about your new business endeavor - but ultimately, if done right - it's very effective. - George Smith
When I get a new follow and I go to see their recent tweets and it looks like the person is constantly re-tweeting their own stuff, I don't follow them back. Also, if it looks like ALL they do is retweet other people, and never really post anything original, I don't follow back. - Joey Gibson
