The author's name was given. When I clicked through to the original, there was a copyright notice. I must admit though that I don't quite understand her reaction. It wasn't like I was presenting that I wrote it. I certainly didn't charge anyone for viewing it. And I had been trying to find more by the author because surely the passage had come from a book. Once I got her note though... I lost interest. - Yolanda

That sucks. I share tons of stuff on Tumblr, and always credit the authors. So far every single time the author of something I posted has contacted me, it's for thanking me for featuring their work. - Guillermo Esteves

Of course... if we were feeling mischievous, we always replay the "Snooty Russian Girl Who Didn't Like Her Photo Linked Outside of DA" tactic with your writer... It unfortunately applies to Posterous since they are presumably based in the US. You can counter-notice if you want to contest it (if you believe it to be fair use, for example). It would be interesting to hear about how Posterous handles DMCA notices relative to other services. - LogEx
