Good points here, except I totally disagree on Armageddon. Bay actually did a pretty good job of "keeping the train on the tracks" in that one, relatively speaking.

The problem with daily blogging is that you inevitably touch on areas you're unqualified to discuss, and risk making yourself look silly. Godin does this often; I call it #blogggingtoohard

"One under-recognized fact is that B2B digital media is often more about digital outreach than it is about attracting website visitors. Revenues from e-newsletters, webcasts, etc. often equals or exceeds website ad revenue, and typically a large minority of website traffic comes from e-newsletter click-throughs. Increasingly, our marketing customers were willing to pay a lot to reach just the right people. Publishing and trade show brands were still important, but audience segmentation was becoming the key to happy customers, better ROI and expanded margins. Further, because our competitors couldn't begin to match these services, we could price based on value rather than cost."

As long as the submission process is smooth, most self-publishers will leverage as many channels as possible, but the real question is will they attract enough customers to remain viable?

Please, no; Greek mythology is so played out. If it has to be white, at least go Norse! I'm still trying to find some good Afro-Caribbean and Egyptian mythology getting attention.

Great article on the limitations of Search Engine Marketing, especially for any marketers who believe it’s the Holy Grail for lead gen and are shifting more money in that direction. The whole article is worth reading, and I’m especially intrigued by the potential for Search Retargeting.

That Lifestreaming nonsense is why I don't pay any attention to Rubel. Same clown who touted Second Life as being a marketing gamechanger.

"As I noted on Twitter, this was a thought-provoking series that might not inspire a ton of traffic or comments, but is incredibly valuable insight. I'd love to see you collect them into a simple ebook (no pics, just the text and relevant links), and put them up on Amazon for $2.99. I'd buy it! Hell, if you need help, I might be able to do it for you."

"As a fellow former zine publisher, I love that angle! While I think blogging is more akin to zines, it's interesting that ebooks seem to have added a key element that was missing from both: the ability to monetize the publication. Not only do you not have to go into debt, you have a shot to make a small profit and make subsequent publications sustainable. I only published three issues of my zine, and the biggest reason was the time and resources it took weren't ever going to be matched by any financial return. Now what I'd love to see is the rebirth of Factsheet Five, focusing on blogs and ebooks that embrace that old zine mentality."
